Fish oil, resveratrol (200 mg t-res Now brand). Occasionally, ALCAR and multi...keep forgetting to take the multi.

Ghostrider - I've been wondering how you're holding up with Modafinil.

I have not taken it since last Saturday. I am on vacation now so no sense in using it. I only plan to take it when studying for the entire day as a substitute for caffeine.

Well, this thread was saved from negligence.
Trail is doing fine. Taking Modafinil has allowed me to lower the dose of Ritalin I take, while enjoying additional benefits such as actual (even if mind) nootropic effect, and of course less side effects.
Sadly, I cannot afford the needed high dose of Modafinil, which would have probably allowed me to drop the Ritalin altogether (except for special occasions)
It also allows me to cycle between the two.

I'm gonna get a shipment of Adrafinil (soon, hopefully), of which I WILL take a high dose (300mg-400mg). I'll keep updating.

I used modafinil for the first time in 2009. Tried 200 mg yesterday split up into 2 dosages about 2 hours apart, no benefit over 100 mg as far as I could tell. In fact, I think the effect is waning. I remembered that it caused my heart rate to be a bit faster than normal, but now I don't even get that anymore...which is good because I considered it an undesirable side effect. I think the increased alertness is still there, but I don't feel any boost in productivity compared to without it...it feels watered-down compared to what I remember. I will use up the rest of my supply, have about 1000 mg left, but I probably won't reorder. It's good if you need to stay up all night studying, but I think the best solution is to simply get more sleep. There's also the risk of becoming dependent on something which I may no longer be able to obtain in the future -- maybe if Obama desides to crack down on the importation of modafinil. I started running about a week ago so maybe that exercise has increased my baseline alertness. It's hard to say, but I think I have built up some tolerance to modafinil. Although, I am pretty sure it kept me up later than usual last night.

John, yeah, I'm still here. Although I'm not sure I have much to add.
I keep cycling between periods of a couple of month with Ritalin, Modafinil and Wellbutrine. The latter (150mg XR) is very mild. It doesn't give me an immediate boost but at least for the first several weeks it keeps my average alertness level higher than usual. Some days it might not work at all, in which case I take some Modafinil (100mg). 100mg is usually enough for a burst of three hours without any negative side effects. Sometimes I need 200mg, and I only take more when I'm on a deadline, and only for a couple of days in a raw. Actually, I tend to augment to Modafinil with some Ritalin (10mg-15mg). These lower doses are possible, I assume, because of the cycling, as I've noticed that in long periods of times I may need higher and higher (but it peaks at some point).

So basically Modafinil 100mg is (in me, at least) equal to 10-15mg Ritalin, although Ritalin kind of makes me uncomfortable physically - edgy, stomach ache and (does anybody else experience this) a need to go number 2 (bathroom-wise) all the time. Modafinil is somewhat "smoother", but it's also somewhat "weaker", but on day-to-day activities it seems to be enough.

I am afraid that Modafinil might actually be more "hazardous" to health, as Ritalin has been researched much and even shown to improve some mental abilities, whereas there are some (few) negative reports on Modafinil.

Anything else?

All the sides you assign to Ritalin, I had them on Modafinil ALONE.

How do you schedule your doses? I'm taking 100mg + 5mg Ritalin in the morning, then 5mg every 4 hours.

I'm actually not a fan of adding small dosages throughout. It seems wise, but I usually don't notice I need more until after the effect has worn off, and then I need to take another large dose. I do, however, add Ritalin or more Modafinil after a 100mg dose of Modafinil, when I feel it's not enough.

Note that on large Modafinil doses (200mg and up), I also experience most of the Ritalin side effects, except for the stomach ache, which may sometimes, on Ritalin, be quite horrible, so it's a big bonus for me. I cannot really put into words the difference between the two, except that Ritalin feels more poignant and heavy, and Modafinil is more spread-out (not time-wise but mentally-wise).
