pic 1 - 19
pic 2 - you looked about 23 (but I assume you were younger here like 19?)
pic 3 - 23
pic 4 - 21

These are how old I think you look in each one.

two recent pics of me the other day 27 years 4 months
https://fbcdn-sphoto...492245547_n.jpg

https://fbcdn-sphoto...431120251_n.jpg

Almost every day since I got back from america people have commented that I look like a boy/teenager. When I arrived in LAX the guy checking my bags said "Matthew, you look like a boy!" Also on the way home from a america a lady sat next to me thought I was in college and that I was only 17 years old.. Surprised you think I look closer to my age than people do in real life. lol.People at work the last few days have been saying I still look like 17. :)

those answers have surprised me a bit. very young guesses. lol. Well I wont tell you how old I am but I will tell you which are older and younger, you may be surprised to know how close together they were taken...while struggling with weight!

Pic 1 was taken most recently in November 2011
Pic 2 is the oldest pic taken August 2010
Pic 3 May 2011
Pic 4 September 2011.

I hated picture 3 when i saw it...I thought I looked old and haggard and everyone told me that I had lost too much weight and looked ill (even though i was never under weight skinny doesn't suit me) so I gained some weight again. I think I look about 35 in pic 3!!

My profile picture was taken just a few weeks ago. I think hair and how you dress also changes how old people look. I think I look my actual age in my profile picture. :-)

another think i notice is that in the 2 pictures where you think I look the oldest I am wearing rather heavy make up and in pic 1 i am make up free...some women wear a lot of make up as they think it makes them look younger but it can do the oposite!!! :-)

Well in your profile picture you do look older. Somewhere around 30. :/ Quite a big difference between all the photos really. I think you look better in the 3rd picture btw.

.

some women wear a lot of make up as they think it makes them look younger but it can do the oposite!!! :-)

Completely agree with that :)

I wear glasses but hate having my picture taken with them lol. I have no wrinkles or gray hair and still get asked ID when buying alcohol. I dress for my age, my husband thinks i dress like an old lady!! It's embarrasing when people come to the door and say is you mum or dad in!!! lol. And I own 2 businesses and I want people to take me seriously so looking around 30 is great. :-) I know if I change my dress and hair I can look younger if I want to. I don't think I look nice in pic 3 at all. my favorite is the 4th. :-) I change my hair colour and style every 3 months minimum also..I have a bit of an obsession with changing myself. Here is a picture taken end of June 2011 on holiday in Portugal..I look different again...I look like i have wrinkles it was because I was laughing and trying not to spit my drink out!! haha.

Yeah you look young there too.. It's not always easy to tell in photos anyway because of different things that can affect how old you look. Angle, lighting, flash, and whatever else. Yeah clothing and hair make a difference too. 3 and 4 are the best.... :) My girlfriend looks insanely young for her age too. She's 36 but looks 24-25! I'm curious to how old you really are now lol. Well, maybe let some other people take guesses and then reveal!

If you had facial hair you would look older and probably quite cute!! ;-), is there a bit of stubble in the pic from age 19? Is staying young a very big deal for you have you dedicated your life to it?? Lol i's be curious to know what you do for a living and what kind of lifestyle you have. You don't have children do you? I don't mean this is a bad way, but you very vain for a straight guy!!! lol. Most women like a guy who looks a bit tough you try growing a bit of desighner stubble it would suit you!! ;)

Pushing 30, because of the sagging/jowliness beginning in the lower face, weight gain in the cheeks, and loosening of the neck. And this despite the fact that such a low res pic will hide a lot. The raggedy hair doesn't help.

I always get singled out everywhere I go as looking really young (I GET THIS ALMOST EVERY DAY). It's not everyone at work or the places I go that get told they look so young. 30... please... lol. Sagging skin? huh? ...... Also the photo you posted above is probably not the best one since I was ill at the time. Also I'm not hiding anything. I don't have any sagging skin and I don't have any lines or wrinkles.;p None.

Matt you really shouldn't get so upset...did I get upset when you said i look around 30 in my profile pic? Most people think i look younger than 25 and who cares. It's how old you feel, how healthy you are that matters. You do not look like a teen as you believe you do. I say 25ish this is younger than your age and you look healthy....there really is more important things in life than never ageing. women don't like little boys remember!!! :-)

Thanks :) I know you're right. We had a discussion about my age at work again today and we were talking about my diet. The new temp workers asked how old I was and I said 27; they then pointed out how I looked younger than the 19-20 year old students there with us. I guess it matters what people say in real life more than what is said on the internet. It's not that I just believe it though, it's what people tell me every day... ANd yeah I know girls don't like little boys haha :) I'm not trying to turn into one. I'm just sharing my experience with people and their comments. I guess something doesn't come across in photos as it does in real life.

People are easily fooled because they do not look very closely.

A trained eye will never confuse a 20 year old with a 27 year old. :)

Well it seems like every person I've ever met in real life has been fooled then. :) I guess you are superior at judging ages. Right? Who should I believe? People on the internet or people that are standing only a few feet from me? It's not like I get told I look under 20 once or twice. I get it every day. Surely there has to be something to it???? no?

but Matt, you get told it every day? You must be asking..people also guess ages younger than they realy think in real life because they want to be nice. If I think smeone looks 30 i will always tell them they look 25 just incase they are really younger than they look!!!

I'm not saying this to be mean, you really do look good for 27!! :-) a bit of stubble a hair cut and some muscle building you would be quite sexy!! lol.

We have a high turnover of people. A lot of temp staff.... So new people every week. :) Well not every day, but almost every day, yes. I know one thing that makes me look older (according to others and my own person opinion) is having longer hair. So why would the security and LAX airport (he was checking my bags) ask me why I still looked like a boy? The women on the plane sat next to me thought i was still a student in college. She assumed that, I never asked her to guess my age. Anyway, I never ask people to guess my age because I think it changes things a lot. I never need to ask them to guess anyway. They just find out my age and are very surprised. My friend rory who is 19 at work; we were sat in the canteen and a girl asks how old I was and I said 27. She said wow! But you look younger than rory!
These picture of me just over a year ago with shorter hair;

you do look extremely young in that bottom picture!!!! All i'm saying is let people have their opinions don't fight with them and try to prove them wrong it makes you look a bit stupid!! Sorry. My brothers 24 and I love rubbing it in that people think he is my older brother, and i find it so funny when people think my husband is my dad (he is 8 years older than me) but i wouldn't get upset if someone guessed my age!! I have 4 kids, my oldest son is 15 this year!! there are more important things all i'm saying. Stop making your life all about your looks, it's very vain and not attractive in a man! your a man not a teen, deal with it. :-) x

Yes I know, I do realise it's a bit silly. :) Hmmm so how old are you? lol. But I don't make my life about looks either. That's not a fair, I do some basic maintenance but I'm far from extreme and don't constantly think about this though. My sister is 25 and people think I'm here younger brother. She don't like that either :p I am a little vain though, I admit. Oh well :)

I think theres nothing wrong in wanting to look younger than one's age, who would want to live forever with sagging jowls and wrinkles - these are a sign of decay, that theres something wrong with the inside of the body, and what we life-extensionists aim for is having younger everything for longer, eventually forever - so why bash or criticise someone who is happy about looking much younger - I say all the more power to you Matt - it seems like you are doing something right and your body is rewarding you for it, which is what we all hope for :) If anti-aging movement is to rapidly go forward some people really need to get over their problem with some people's desire to look younger and their success in it. Its what we are ultimately after - health and youth, for as long as possible. Youthful looks reflect a healthy inside!

1. Curr Aging Sci. 2009 Dec;2(3):193-9.

Mortality according to a prior assessment of biological age.

Bulpitt CJ, Antikainen RL, Markowe HL, Shipley MJ.

Section of Care of the Elderly, Imperial College, London.
c.bulpitt@Imperial.ac.uk

BACKGROUND: Measures of biological age have not been proven to predict mortality.
This study examines whether measuring biological age improves the prediction of
mortality.

METHODS: Prospective study from 1981 to 2001 of 397 male London Civil Servants.
Two indices of biological ageing were calculated.

RESULTS: 60 men died and both indices of biological ageing were related to
survival. In a model that mutually adjusted for both chronological and biological
age, biological age using index one was statistically significant with a hazard
ratio (HR) of 1.11 per year of age (95% confidence interval 1.01 - 1.21, P=0.03).
The useful components of the measures of biological ageing were systolic blood
pressure (HR 1.31 for 1SD), albumin, and, to a lesser degree, Erythrocyte
Sedimentation Rate (ESR). Greying of the hair, skin inelasticity, arcus senilis,
and baldness were not predictors of mortality as measured by our methods.

Similarly serum cholesterol, creatinine, calcium and urate could be excluded. A
modified index was developed including systolic pressure, ESR, urea, albumin, and
bilirubin and had a sensitivity of 78% and specificity of 51% in predicting
subjects who died.

CONCLUSION: This study represents 'proof of principle' in demonstrating the
utility and validity of measuring biological age. The modified index needs to be
tested prospectively.

2. BMJ. 2009 Dec 10;339:b5262.

Perceived age as clinically useful biomarker of ageing: cohort study.

Christensen K, Thinggaard M, McGue M, Rexbye H, Hjelmborg JV, Aviv A, Gunn D, van
der Ouderaa F, Vaupel JW.

Danish Twin Registry and Danish Aging Research Center, Institute of Public
Health, University of Southern Denmark, DK-5000 Odense C, Denmark.
kchristensen@health.sdu.dk

OBJECTIVE: To determine whether perceived age correlates with survival and
important age related phenotypes.

DESIGN: Follow-up study, with survival of twins determined up to January 2008, by
which time 675 (37%) had died.

SETTING: Population based twin cohort in Denmark.

PARTICIPANTS: 20 nurses, 10 young men, and 11 older women (assessors); 1826 twins
aged >or=70.

MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Assessors: perceived age of twins from photographs. Twins:
physical and cognitive tests and molecular biomarker of ageing (leucocyte
telomere length).

RESULTS: For all three groups of assessors, perceived age was significantly
associated with survival, even after adjustment for chronological age, sex, and
rearing environment. Perceived age was still significantly associated with
survival after further adjustment for physical and cognitive functioning. The
likelihood that the older looking twin of the pair died first increased with
increasing discordance in perceived age within the twin pair-that is, the bigger
the difference in perceived age within the pair, the more likely that the older
looking twin died first. Twin analyses suggested that common genetic factors
influence both perceived age and survival. Perceived age, controlled for
chronological age and sex, also correlated significantly with physical and
cognitive functioning as well as with leucocyte telomere length.

CONCLUSION: Perceived age-which is widely used by clinicians as a general
indication of a patient's health-is a robust biomarker of ageing that predicts
survival among those aged >or=70 and correlates with important functional and
molecular ageing phenotypes.
