It has to be simply a combination of genetics, diet, and good easy stress-free living. I want to see a close up pic without the shades.

It "has", but it may be not... I mean - he's clearly the one who stands out as a sore thumb, in this context, even taking into account that there are plenty of males/celebrities who take a good care of themselves, and this dude looks like a legit 20yo being almost 40. I've seen quite a few high resoluition pics of him without shades. No apparent wrinkles around the eyes or smth.. Maybe as simple as "Botox"? If that's so - "god" bless that substance, I'll need some of it.

Maybe a little botox. I still think it is his lifestyle and genetics. Many of those other celebrities partied, drank and smoked quite a bit. They also spent endless hours in the sun without protection. Dude also just has and has always had one of those baby faces. I know for a fact that if I had lived the way I wanted to I would easily look like I was 23 or 24, I'm now 37. The last few years of stress and other factors have really taken their toll, and I still look a good 5 to 6 years younger than I am. Some people think I look 28 or 29. I think I look more like 32. And this is after many years of drinking, some years of smoking, a ton of all nighters and lack of sleep, and several periods of chronic stress and depression. I think one thing that saved me over the years was working out and the six years or so that I pretty much avoided stress.

I'd definitely think you are 20 at most if I'd meet you somewhere, though this pic is washed out badly.

I forgot to add that I have had tons of bad UV exposure. I hardly ever wore sunscreen, unless I was hanging at the pool all day(even then I wouldn't somethimes) or at the beach-I'm a pale mole ridden white boy.

Garden is fine, i know i have a video camera here now i'll use it tomorrow i think. Yeah picture is a litle washed out, but doesn't the change i still have a very 'boyish' appearance. I still get mistake for being around 17  By the way, even when images are not clear, it's easy for 'us' to guestimate age. Try a slightly washed out person of any age, it's not difficult to still understand what age 'around' they are. really...

Seriously guys, if you have a naturally youthful appearance and take reasonably good care of yourself, you are not going to do a lot of visible aging from 20 to 30. I don't know, maybe I have just been surrounded by people with good genes. All I know is that the majority of my friends still looked very young at 30. It wasn't until 34 or 35 that we really started showing signs of aging. And, none of us took that great of care of ourselves.

I'm not sure how that statement can be true, because it's not common for 'everyone' to say to each other how young they look. no... actually, in terms of reaching maturity and not aging after that, yes it's slow from that age range. Staying as a teenager at 25 is not 'common'. As you claim it to be :/ I haven't seen 1 person from high school (from fb photos) maintain a youthful appearance.

It must be the area you live in and the genes your friends have. Also, who said anything about looking like a teenager in your mid 20's? I was talking about nothing changing much between the lower 20s and 30. Besides, is that really the goal, to look like a teenager? I guess if it translates to looking like your in your 20s when you are 40 it is a good thing. Most of my friends maintained a very youthful appearances even into their lower 30s-no grey hair, full head of hair, very few visible wrinkles, hardly any or no age/sun spots or freckles, and good healthy lean physiques. Yes I admit there are others that just don't tend to age that well for whatever reason.

Remember now, I said, "if you have a naturally youthful appearance". Some people may have very few wrinkles and beautiful skin, but they just do not have that youthful fresh look about them. It's all about genetics man.

Woah. What a difference. You look so mature and older with long hair like close to 30.

But with this hair, you look so young like 18.

And OMG, you look so cute & pretty. :) I feel like drowning looking in your eyes.

Hahaha crazy :D but no one ever mistook me for being close to 30 :p (in real life haha), even with long hair i was mistaken for 17 all the time... (SERIOUSLY). i saw my cousin the other day he said i look like i was 16 ( i hadn't seen him for a long time, and that was with long hair). :D but yeah, i like having shorter hair! This style is more boyish too.

and thanks :D

I really disagree. Considering we are judging fine details (of a very subjective judgement) I would not classify ANY of those photos as having appropriate detail for an appropriate assessment. Not one of your photos shows skin-tone or anywhere near enough resolution or detail to make out the biggest indicators of aging around the eyes and mouth and forehead. Put another way I think anyone is capable of removing some years and looking younger with the right low-resolution photo, angle, and lighting ala the link posted before this girl is in her 20's:

I'll be sure to post some high resolution picture. What matters is how people see me in real life yes? Well, thats how young people see me in real life (as i'm told all the time)... anyway, don't have lines around my mouth, eyes or forehead, at all. Hmmmm. it's true that high res pictures are better. I think that you don't give that old brain enough credibility for being able to guage the age of someone age even from poor visibility or pictures. Those 'fine lines' you refer to... i think they don't believe make a huge difference. My sister has lines on her forehead from frowning, but she still looks like a teenager and can't get served for alcohol (neither can I, we have to be 18 here)

Matt, I support your desire to look as young as possible...I share the same goal. However, I suspect that this is being taken a bit too far...what's the purpose? As many others have pointed out, it's really easy to look young in one's 20s (just go on CR and drop body weight). True test begins in about 20 years. I really think that in about 10 years, we will have the medical technology through issue engineering to de-age 50 year olds and make them *look* like 20 year olds though stem cell therapies. This will probably be the first widespread application of stem cells. You'll start seeing more products such as this:

No need to question him! He is enjoying what he is doing and doesn't have a problem with it, why poke him about it? :)

Matt is doing a good job, he is happy and should continue without being questioned or annoyed about it.. The point is that it will help him later anyways and that he is doing what he wants to and what he feels good about.

That is an unsuccessful simulation because of a simple reason - no make up or lighting (well some, but still) can hide a youthful facial contours, that underlies..

Hey, do we have any photos of Leto's old folks or siblings if he has any ? Guess that would be interesting as for the genetic vs life style factor.

But I feel that in a way it's kind of bragging. It would be like some rich guy going onto a trading or investing site and replying to a topic called "I have yet to see somebody who is as rich as they claim..." and then posting photos of all his cars, houses, yachts, and women to prove to others his financial status. There's really no harm being done here and I don't think Matt is getting any kind of ego kick out of this...but what's the purpose? How will this benefit others. As others have pointed out, looking young is mostly genetics. Diet, exercise, and stress also play a role. Matt does look young, but frankly, I'm more impressed with Eminem:

Posted Image

He's in his 30s, has had (from as he describes) a terrible and stressful life, he's a bastard child, never knew his father, no family to support him, drug and alcohol abuse, smoking(?), terrible diet, broken marriage, stress of being a celebrity...and a rapper. As far as aging is concerned, this guy has everything going against him and he still looks pretty damn young for his age. I'm impressed, shows you just how much genetics matter. I guess this thread never claimed to be beneficial to anyone...so can we go back to posting photos of MILFs?
