Matt looks young for his age, maybe too young. At 25 and you look like that? In some circles, that's actually a negative that he looks THAT young. Girls might be turned off, especially those around his age and older. Definitely he's going to have problems in clubs, bars and strip clubs.

Imagine the awkward feeling of a server when Matt orders his food...

"Can I have a happy meals please.......and a beer?"

matt, you obviously look young... but using blurry, blown out (hyperlighting) pictures doesnt give anyone a realistic idea of how you look. blowing out pictures is typically a technique people use to make themself look better & younger.

this guy is 43... picture doesnt exactly do him justice, he looks way younger in person.

But if he likes girls 18-21 (like I do) then it's a pure WIN haha..

Indeed.

Being 35 and looking like 22 years old is pure WIN if you like the 18-21 year old girls group.

However, being attracted to a 26 year old woman (you're 35) and she is turned off by you because she thinks you're a kid is also a CON.

I don't know what it is, but I have a feeling that black males have this tendency to reach a point of maturation facially wise and just stay there for A LONG time, like this Robinson steel pumper, Samuel L.Jackson, Laurence Fishburne, I could go on. This guy above actually beats Babyface in baby faceness.

I heard somewhere that on average people of African descendence have stronger collagen bonds, anyone know about this or just a myth ?

Is the unspoken theory here that Matt has somehow managed to turn biologically younger since beginning CR?

See the thread on maximal lifespan extension in CR'd humans. CR started in adulthood does not lead to such dramatic changes in lifespan, especially given the low degree of CR he is on. So if he looks young, it's because of good genes.

This topic is idiotic. Sense here is completely unwelcome and just not cool man.

Of course you're right though. It's probably a combination of good genes, sun avoidance and living in a low UV area.

I think that its just skin care and lifestyle choices he has made. He does not smoke or Drink . Not much sun exposure , good skin care. Cr keeps him thin and our brains assosiate being thin with being young. No facial hair means young. Low juvenile hairlines can take years off someone's face , fair skin means young. No eyebags means young. But all these are all about appearance . Thats how our brains interpret these characteristics. There is no way someone can turn biologically younger with the mechanics and science we have today. CR cannot turn someone younger. Our bodies are collecting damage every single second and all we hope to accomplish is slow down that rate a bit with CR. Sure we can aquire the the looks of someone biologicaly younger somewhat successfully with many ways ,expensive or not , but so did my grandmother being 70 with no wrinkles , good skin , no grey hair , and she still got cancer. Lower rates of cancer , CVD , diabetes and neurodegenerative disease is my true hope with CR and not perfect flawless face.I mean im quite thin , still very little to none facial and body hair at 28 and i have been using retin A for 4 years now. The result is that i am perceived by ppl to be younger sometimes a lot younger but thats not important .Because i am not. I have slowly turn my diet to the CR raw way , i take my supps but there is no way i would say that its all these that im taking and using that make me look this way. Truth is its way too early and the science is just not there .Noone can be sure of how CR is affecting us because the reasearch is just not there yet and Pictures of ppl's faces do not prove anything about CR or supps. Matt's case would be interesting for study if he was 50 or 60 and looked like he looks now but its just not important now him being 25 or so.

Here's an interesting and relevant study:

Longevity and gray hair, baldness, facial wrinkles, and arcus senilis in 13,000 men and women: the Copenhagen City Heart Study.

Schnohr P, Nyboe J, Lange P, Jensen G.

"BACKGROUND: We have previously reported that men who look older than their contemporaries have a significantly higher risk for myocardial infarction. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether persons with pronounced aging signs such as graying of hair, baldness, or facial wrinkles are prone to a shorter life span compared to their contemporaries.

METHODS: In the Copenhagen City Heart Study comprising a random sample of 20,000 men and women, we also recorded, in addition to cardiovascular risk factors, data on signs of aging: extent of gray hair, baldness, facial wrinkles, and arcus senilis (corneal arcus). During 16 years of follow-up, 3,939 persons (1,656 women and 2,283 men) had died. The Cox regression model for proportional hazards, which included age as an explanatory variable, was used for descriptive analysis of the correlation between these aging signs and all-cause mortality.

RESULTS: We found no correlation between the mortality and the extent of graying of the hair, or baldness or facial wrinkles in either of the sexes, irrespective of age. A single exception was observed in a small subgroup of men with no gray hair. They had a slightly, but significantly, lower mortality than the rest [relative risk (RR) = .81, 95% confidence interval (CI) .67-.98; p < .05]. The presence of arcus senilis was significantly correlated with a shorter life span in women (RR = 1.25, 95% CI 1.08-1.46; p < .01). For men the same tendency was found, but the correlation was not statistically significant.

CONCLUSION: We conclude that the degrees of graying of the hair, baldness, and facial wrinkles are not predictive of a shorter life span in men and women in the Copenhagen City Heart Study."

It shouldn't really be surprising for people who live longer to look younger. Centenarians, super centenarians and calorie restricted animals all look younger for their age because of slower aging. Maybe looking younger doesn't mean you will live longer, but can be used 'in my opinion' to assess whether or not 'CR' or anything else you're doing is slowing down aging. It's just one part of the whole thing. And if looking good for longer makes you happier, it might help live a little longer haha.

I believe i am one of the youngest that started CR (age 18, im 26 soon)

Perceived age as clinically useful biomarker of ageing: cohort study
http://www.bmj.com/c.../full/bmj.b5262

Conclusion Perceived age—which is widely used by clinicians as a general indication of a patient’s health—is a robust biomarker of ageing that predicts survival among those aged ≥70 and correlates with important functional and molecular ageing phenotypes.

Matt, did you read the study I posted? It came to the conclusion that graying hair, baldness and wrinkles were not predictive of shorter lifespan. Also, here's an excerpt from the study that you posted which it appears could directly contradict your opinion regarding caloric restriction and perceivedd age:

Perceived age was influenced negatively by exposure to sun, smoking, and low body mass index (BMI)

IMHO it's a common sense. Pretty obvious (was) the difference between CR and non CR monkeys, appearance wise. But we should talk about EXTRA abnormal younger appearance, like when person of 40yo looks more like a 20yo, etc...

Well, you also often link to your pictures showing you at different ages, pointing out that you look younger now than you did when you were 18.

If people do indeed think you look younger now than you did then, it can't be because of CR's effect on your actual biological aging -- rather, it's probably because you weigh less and have better skin as a result of a healthier diet.

We can't really know yet what kind of effects diet and lifestyle has on epigenomic level. As aging most probably isn't a "linear/by script" process it may be that some of the pathways get more active, other less, thus kind of "reversing" organism to a state that would be considered as a more "in tact" (or "younger") state, etc... We still don't know plenty of stuff to make brave statements as the definition of aging isn't even defined enough at the moment.

So all these CR work could be not making us look any younger? Could it be the pork-cheeks in Japanese diet? Bacon glazed with chocolate?

Well dude (Leto) at least avoids sun, that's for sure. I can tell because after like 4 years of conscious avoidance/sunscreen of sun my skin lokks exactly the same (very pale. Though funny thing is - I like it a lot more then when I used to go to tanning beds.).

Does he have arrows or the number one as tattoos on his calves?

And WTF is he wearing on his feet? Boot-like shoes at the beach? I'm starting to think this guy is a serious tool.

I actually used to love the feeling of having a little tan. And, I do think a little color can be more attractive some times.

I don't think many would disagree that he's a mega-tool. But he's a young looking mega-tool. :-)

Man, haha, I don't know what kind of tatoos would be more "toolish" than upward arrows on calves pointing to your groin, maybe only if he had a busty blond chick signed "Lucille" on his chest :-D.
