Yea i wish i knew also maybe its because i was taking it on and off then suddenly stopped taking it my body never got used to it seems people who dont stick to it for long get sides but who knows still not worth it imho. Anyways thers far safer things then fin that inhibit 5ar like saw palametto and axstanathan which im sure u guys know already also heard its safer to use a topical fin solution which bypasses the sides they say but these could be risky also.I just seen way to much evidence by researching med files and info on this site that 5ar and dht is not something you want to inhibit.I never had no health issues until after taking propecia..

Well, for me it's completely worth it. And from what I've researched, although saw palmetto has some effect on the vertex, it does nothing for the front area. One thing in common that all the people I know who went completely natural have: they all lost their hair. I have a few friends who were complaining about hair loss but wanted to stick entirely with supplements, and natural stuff, but they never worked that well.  Maybe they slowed it down a little, but they never got the results they wanted.

For me, losing my hair is not acceptable at all lol. :)

On the topic of 5ARIs:

When looking at the 17beta-HSD3, the final step in testicular testosterone synthesis, curcumin was found to be a noncompetitive inhibitor with an IC50 of 2.3uM, and brought Luteinizing-Hormone stimulated testosterone levels down to 34% of control at a concentration of 10uM.[36] This effect was not dose-dependent, and concentrations of 1uM were not significantly different from 0.1uM and control cells.[36]

From examine.com

66% reduction in T from LH, that's probably about a 30% decrease overall? Though this is a petri dish test with what appears to be a very high dose and body builders swear by 2g of turmeric/day for "massive T increases" oslt, so I suppose it can help if taken at a low enough dose? 2g won't go far as the active dose range for raw turmeric is 8-16g, I suspect that gut inflammation somehow leads to a decrease in T output, I certainly feel a boost from eating foods that have it. Similar to it's cousin ginger, it accelerates intestinal motility, so get rid of more toxins faster and thrive better appears to be the MoA for general health improvements including it's benefits in diabetics.

Would low doses of curcumin/turmeric reduce the need for finasteride? I suppose it wouldn't hurt if you're trying to lose weight as it wouldn't affect inflammation outside of the gut for the most part. Some types of inflammation are necessary to reduce fat growth, while others are lipolytic.

Also, it does appear that finasteride users are finding ways to restore their libido. From their patterns of success, it shouldn't affect our community much.

Well its good there finding ways to restore there libido but what about there brains?? Thats the troubling and most underestimated side of them all,is the mental sides which hardly are ever mentioned or spoken about its always oh finesteride will kill your boner but what about your mind it deff does something to your cognitive behaviors as well,as thats the main issues i am struggling with.No lawyers wanted to even bring the subject up in the lawsuites either, as they quickly dismissed the victims of mental sides and didnt even want to look into the case. But theres plenty of evidence that fin can mess up your cognitive system as well..

One area that a ton of people overlook is UVA rays penetrating glass. Most people don't have UVA protection in their car, or office. And they assume that they are not being exposed to sun damage in those environments. But while glass rejects all UVB rays so you'll never get a tan, it barely reflects any UVA rays.

This is correct. Though both UV-B and UV-A radiation can cause skin cancer and sunburns, UV-A does not affect vitamin D production and seems to be superior in its ability to cause skin cancer and damage to skin. UV-A is also psychoactive (opioidergic). You need a little bit of both UV-A and UV-B to feel the summer weather, UV-B is not sufficient.

The good feeling from tanning is because of this

https://en.wikipedia...ulating_hormone

You can buy an activator in a bottle called this

https://en.wikipedia...i/Bremelanotide

or this

https://en.wikipedia...ki/Melanotan_II

And it provides a real melanin based tan without any UV

It is also an aphrodisiac

"Research in the early 1960s showed that in rats, administration of α-MSH caused sexual arousal, and work on this continued in many labs up through the 1980s, when scientists at University of Arizona began attempting to develop α-MSH and analogs as potential sunless tanning agents, and synthesized and tested several analogs, including melanotan-I and melanotan II.[1][8]"

I haven't managed to read through all of the responses to this topic yet, but am working on doing so.

One person mentioned that a factor in someone looking younger than their age can be behavior.   I think that I look my age but am often guessed to be fifteen years younger (at least most recently).   I can pass for that young for the following reasons, in my opinion:

1. I live in a mid-western state in the U.S.  If I were in New York, Miami, L.A., etc., there would be far more people who are physically fit in the way that I am.  In the mid-west, many young people are overweight.

2. I have led a fairly unconventional life and have always had younger people in my life as friends in addition to older people and those my own age.  When hanging out with younger people, it is easier to blend in and people often assume you are "one of them".

3. I seem to keep up with the times.  I like new technologies and new ways to do things and basically "different".  So I "act young".  If you can already pass for a bit younger by looks alone, then certain behaviors can make you "seem" young.  Not look young, but seem it.  The two attributes together can result in one seeming much younger than his/her biological age.

Only in the past few months have I begun to focus on looking younger.  This is because I was working with someone and we began to develop a connection and I felt that there might be something there (romantically).  My age was revealed a few weeks ago and it turns out that I am 14 years older than this person.  After my age was revealed, the person avoided me and has done so.  It made me quite sad and still does and I've found myself bemoaning my old age and the life that has passed me by.  (The person had assumed that I was fifteen years younger than I am).  I'll get over it and go back to caring about fighting aging for the reasons I've always done:   health, avoidance of *pain* (!!), etc.

Please guys wutever u do please DO NOT!! take finesteride, no fear mongering i was just one of the unlucky ones it ruins (some) lives.

Your crippling fear ruined your own life.

https://www.ncbi.nlm...les/PMC5264352/

50% of finasteride users experienced continual sexual side effects after discontinuing finasteride, while 59% of placebo subjects noted continual sexual side effects

I *think* I took Finasteride and now my penis doesn't work FOREVER!

A handful of people taking high dose dutasteride experience some legitimate sexual sides, but that's reducing DHT by 97% instead of 70%. It also resolved upon cessation. As an adult male you don't really need much DHT. DHT is a bit like Growth Hormone. You don't need as much when you're 45 as when you're 13. But unlike GH, your body keeps producing almost as much DHT at 50 as it did at 15. That causes some mostly bad side effects.

Pictures can lie.

Someone with front light and without smiling can look totally free of wrinkels. See the same person from the side and light from above and you see all the lines in the face, the loss of substance. Smiling makes it even worse.

And dont forget that between 20 and 35 the body naturally doesnt change that much, making it hard to determine the age and easy to look much younger.

I dont want to be off topic too much, but for me Nicotinamide Riboside probably reversed all sexual dysfunction from finasteride and also helped with hair regrowth. If you have further problems with hair loss from irritated skin, also use Thiocyanate, it will help your skin feel healthy again.

What about this celeb? I was googling young looking celebs and she ws voted top in a poll

http://www.imdb.com/...06496/nm0000084

Shes 42 years of age, this photo came up as 2007 on the imbd page. Shes definitely looks much younger than her age I think, but don't know much about her.

hannibalrisingpic8.jpg

Looks age correct to my eyes. I was going to say 45, but 42 is within error of margin.

Why do young people think that automatically if a person is over 40 that they LOOK like a typical out of shape person with a face that's sinking in with deep wrinkles? Just goes to show the ignorance of the young.

I'd have to disagree with that after seeing how all my old friends and cousins have aged (many of us are now around 35).

I think it could be much harder to look significantly younger (at a young age) than your peers compared to how it would be when you're older, since there will have been a longer period of time to diverge away from them in terms of appearance.

There may be a bigger effect from diet and lifestyle on the 'rate of aging' later on than when things are running more optimally at a younger age. That being said, I still think there is room for improvement even in one's 20s and early 30s, which can and does make a difference.
