Hello,

After reading on this forum that David Wolfe claims cacao to be a superfood, I hastily bought it at Whole Foods. It was an organic Cacao+Maca powder product.

I started putting the Cacao\Maca powder in my morning shakes (unflavored whey isolate, 1 tbsp manuka honey, vitamin d3, milled flaxseeds)

After a week, I noticed that my libido was high - can attribute this to the maca.

I also noticed that I was seriously craving the powder, and started having it twice daily (morning, post-workout).

It's week two now, and I get an incredible sense of well-being (probably due to the theobromine, phenylethylamine, etc in cacao) everytime I have this, but I have a feeling it's highly addictive so I'm stopping. In addition to this, I'm getting stomach bloating\pain.

Has anyone else had experience with cacao? Gonna do some research after this post. Peace

Incidentally, I started using cacao and maca in my morning beverage, but I think it is too early to come to conclusions yet. However, I will say that I have experienced a perceived increase in energy and mood within 30min of drinking my strange concoction, but that may just be me imagining things. If I notice any other effects, I'll post back.

I also mix cacao with maca and feel an increased well-being. Hey, there's nothing wrong with being addicted with something that's good for you! Beats the "other" addictions.. :)

First, I actually notice a more pronounced libido boost from cacao than maca, so you should try them individually before attributing this effect to maca.

Craving of the powder and incredible sense of well-being is also the cacao.

Is the maca doing anything at all? Good question! :) I can never tell. It does seem to bother my stomach though, whereas cacao actually helps.

It depends on your source of maca.

Top grade maca (dehydrated juice ground) isn't cheap. For me it causes massive hunger suppression and acne. I'm not cycling it at present so not sure of the long term effects.

I'm using Monster Maca from therootofthematter. Pretty expensive stuff but lower doses have the same effect as the moderately priced product. I had to stop Cacao because of the arginine content and a possible viral reactivation.

I have read that high levels of arginine can cause herpes outbreaks while lysine can help suppress them. Maybe this is what he was referring to.
