oh and one more thing. something that inhibits angiogenesis is also likely to inhibit telomerase. so should you take resveratrol, do not mix with telomerase activator.

Agreed, I think that Astra should be taken far apart from Resveratrol, if combined. I wouldnt take both at the same time, I have talked to someone that did, they didnt notice any sides, but they were not taking a high dose or the premium supp from Revgen. Taking both simultaneously may contradict positive benefits.

Resveratrol improves bone density and strength, limits damage to cells, protects cardio function, and improves cognitive function (possibly even partially as a result of its copper [excess of which is implicated in neurodegeneration] chelation) in several studies. full_circle just likes to cite problems.

Agreed, with consistent use, even marginal positive affects have a cumulative health and survival value.

I'm a newbie here. Just started taking resv 2 weeks ago (98% powder from China). I combine 300-400 mg resv daily with about 150 mg quercetin. I take it mixed in vodka + water + lecithin, fist holding in my mouth for 1-2 minutes, then swallowing it. So far, I see no visible effects or changes. I might have lost 2 pounds but that may be due to eating and drinking alcohol less.
When should I expect to see any noticable effects? Or should I?
Also, since my resv came as powder, can anyone recommend me an accurate way to measure the dose?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, no one answered your question here. They should have sent you a scoop. I think that an eighth of a teaspoon should be about 300 to 500 mgs. depending on the purity of product. I wouldnt use anymore than a quarter of a teaspoon daily. I hope that helps you.

You guys might want to consider borrowing/buying a reliable scale. I was pretty amazed at how far off I was trying to measure with my spoon set. My recollection without checking back into old threads is that when I thought I was using enough spoonfuls to be taking 4 grams a day, the scale showed I was taking 2.5 grams per day. Between the varying densities of products, and batches within products, and the variations that can be found within measuring spoons themselves, weighing on an actual scale could really be helpful for you and everyone else as far as understanding exactly what dosages are involved.

A reliable milligram scale is cost prohibative for most people.

Here's a short thread where this topic was covered. Highlights include maxwatt providing a link to $30 scale... Resveratrol dose

Thanks for the link. Right now I use a small spoon that was provided from another supplement, I know its under 300 mgs, because its smaller than the one provided by Revgen which states theirs is approx. that amount. This helps keep doses to around 500 within a small varience. I want to keep dosing optimal to 2 grams in a 7 day period, as a matter of prudence and economy. The main advantage is that by using a protocol, such as this, I can reduce the instances of any side effects or possible physiological imbalances, that can result from continued use of supplements. Comments?

Ive been using the best available, pre-emulsified, micronized, 250 mgs capsule, combined with a half dose of M98 and other supps in a whey, glutamine, creatine mixed with fruit juice for this long. I recently stopped dosing daily and then re-started on alternate days. I do feel better after taking it. Ive also gone from 190 to 175 lbs. I do have a regimen of other supps, but Resveratrol is the addition that made a difference. I think that taking an occassional break is beneficial to its effects and that high doses should not be taken for extended periods. 500 mgs and under seem to be the best dosing for me. Any others with similar experiences? Comments?

_______________

I'm 55 and my wife is 2 years younger.

My Wife and I have been taking about 1.5 grams of 98% RES day for a couple years all on wake up AM empty stomach.

I have dropped from almost 200 pounds to around the low 160 pound range over a couple years of taking RES.
But, I just had a stomach virus or food poison and dropped to 159 pounds but I am ready to eat food again.

While, my wife on RES did not lose any weight but she has turned muscular doing over 4 miles day on a tread mill running at over 4 MPH.

We also dose on 2,000 IU Vitamin D; 100 mcg Vita K; 30 mg Q-10; 250 mg Polydatin / day.

I'm taking half doses of heart meds 5 mg Norvasc and 5 mg lipitor day.
After my younger brother passed away my MD prescribed it because I had moderate HBP and heart pain.
I tried to stop the heart meds on occaision but I felt heart pains.

The RES appears have made my wife muscular. She has a good muscular figure.
But before the RES she looked like the rest of her family.

Maybe I have lost a lot of weight, due to taking RES.

Is this really possible? Not 100% certain.

We take 98% RES and Polydatin.

Thanks for posting that. Yes, I think it is possible the Res. helped with your weight loss. In some anecdotal reports, people have gained weight and with exercise, some muscle..

Why do you take it with alcohol? Are you a proponent of low dose alcohol being a health benefit? Last study I checked was inconclusive and may even be unhealthy, bringing up risk for some cancers. Sorry I don't have that study here.

I've read some posts suggesting that more resv can be dissolved in alcohol than water or oil, so less volume is needed to dissolve it. Also the fact that I swish it in my mouth for some time before swallowing may increase absorption via mouth mucosa (buccal delivery). I read somewhere that ethanol enters bloodstream faster sublingually. I can't cite any of these now, but these are all collected in my mind from various articles in the past. Also, I occasionally use tinctures made of alcohol and it is established that alcohol dissolves and delivers to the body almost all of the plant chemicals compared to other mediums. So I figured that if I'm going to mix it with something, it might as well be alcohol. Also, as you said, the fact that ethanol has great cardiovascular benefits does not hurt ..

There may be a benefit in administration this way, but I think that regular oral dosing acheives the results and levels desired. That goes for any supplement IMO. But people like to have scientific fun with their regimens, administrations, etc. and if sensible, thats all right!

48 yrs, male. I have taken resv 300 mg for six months, and I can say the following.

Subjective feeling: perhaps a bit more stamina, in muscles and sexually, but hard to quantify.

Objective: Lost abt 8 kg (10 %) within six weeks, and the weight stabilized at an optimal level. This is very positive.

The main reason I started to take resv is that I started to become forgetful and groggy and wanted to 'clear up' my brain. Thus, after some research I started with resv together with curcumin as these were the two most promising substances. And yes, I would say they have delivered, though it is difficult to say if it is the resv or curcumin or the combination of the two. Anyway, I will continue with the combination.

Resv or the combination has not helped with my other problems, unfortunately, i.e. asthma, psoriasis, peripheral neuropathy (hands). The neuropathy started after taking statins, so I advice against taking any - try niacin instead.

This is very interesting. Did you lose the 8 kg without additional exercise or dieting? I've always suspected that my modest weight loss came with Resv usage but can not find any evidence on the web pertaining this.

The kilos just kept on disappearing, one kilo per week for eight weeks. I tried to eat a bit better and my level of exercise was the same. I have tried to diet before, but it did not help, so I am pretty sure the weight loss is due to resv. Also, it has stabilized, and I have not regained the kilos.

I had similar results. It didnt happen overnight, but it seemed to be incremental even after I stopped the Res. for a period. I probably weigh less now than I did at 27, and thankfully, with the same amount of fat I had at that age. I have lowered my intake per week and still feel in a state of youthful homeostasis. I have taken a break from exercise though, and am interested to see how I feel once I start again. I may increase my dose to daily or just on workout days, depending on how things go. After a year of regular dosing and seeing benefits, I am keen to stay with it and avoid any sides or sensitivities that can accompany the use of regular supplementation. I think that cycling and switching the type of product can help with this in my case.
