I don't know about safe, but gabapentin and pregabalin have been known to enhance sleep.

I have been on gabapentin for over a year for this purpose. It takes a few months before you notice any real big change but it does indeed work. I find coupling it with tryptophan works great for my insomnia. The tryptophan gets me to sleep and the gabapentin deepens my sleep.

It's a tough problem. The only thing that works consistently for me is an otc sleeping pill and I don't want to use it more than 2x a week. Lemon balm quit working, scullcap doesnt do that much. Valarian root plus scullcap worked great at first, now not so great. MJ worked great but now not so much and it's expensive. Phenibut works great but no more than 1x per week. I'm ordering lyrica which is expensive but I will see how it does.

Phenibut just once a week seems overly cautious (which is understandable, considering it's reputation).

With GABA agonists (including phenibut, benzos and back to back GHB/GBL use), my personal rule of thumb has been either five consecutive days of use then two days break if use is going to be little to none the next week, or three days use two days break if it isn't. Now, those numbers are a semi-asspull - I got them from a knowledgable seeming individual on another forum, unsourced - but they haven't failed me or anyone whose consumption I advice yet, and we've hit them semi-regularly. Taking generous leeway for individual variation in brain function, I really think you should be safe using phenibut at least one day out of three.

It might get less effective for sleep, though.

VALERIAN. Caps because Unlike can't believe noone has mentioned it. Also passionflower incarnate.

Also, try exercise. It works wonders for sleep. Most insomniacs don't exercise much
