(I only upped the costco one to 12 pills to make it equal the total EFA content of the LEF one.)
Why isn't the edit button working?

I just read Mind Boosters by Ray Sahelian and he wrote that the highest he tried was 30 g yielding 9000 mg of DHA/EPA. His description intrigued me so I decided to try it myself. It had a similar effect on me as 2 mg of lorazepam without sedation.
Did Ray state how long he was taking 30 grams of fish oil? If so, post it here. Thanks.
I only take 1 gram of fish oil daily mainly due to cost; I take the Nordic Naturals brand.

The omega 3 studies that are a little worrisome (that I happen to recall):As a high dose fishoil user I'm concerned about oxidation. Is there anything concrete to say that it causes oxidation and is harmful in large doses? Anyone have a reference or is it just speculation?
Thanks!

The study is a bit muddled though, as they used sequential dosing. But it does show that too much DHA increases urinary isoprostane, which isn't such a good thing. So too much DHA = greater oxidation.

Dietary supplementation with eicosapentaenoic acid, but not with other long-chain n-3 or n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, decreases natural killer cell activity in healthy subjects aged >55 y.
NK Cell activity was reduced with a rather small dose of EPA in this study. I do wonder if the fish oil contained vitamin E or not though and if the result was due to reduction in E levels or something else going on.
I also recall a DHA study that resulted in lowering of some other immune markers, but I think vit E corrected that (sorry, don't have a link handy). You can search pubmed for other studies.

He doesn't say. He says he took 10-20 g for several subsequent days and noticed more improvements then says he currently takes 600-1200 EPA/DHA.
I took 20 g today and had a good day after a very restful night of sleep for me. People said I looked more relaxed. I felt more energetic, focused, and thought a bit clearer. I did have a slight headache at times today.
In some of the mental illness studies (schizophrenia and bipolar) with fish oil they use 10 g a day and see significant improvements he states in the book. I'm guessing that if a high fish oil dose helps with any kind of mental problem, particularly stress and anxiety, it probably more than offsets any oxidation issues. Stress and anxiety can often be more deadly than cigarette smoking or eating junk food constantly. I'm also guessing that as long as a certain level provides some sort of perceived benefit, there's a chance the body, particularly the brain, is using it and not just letting it sit around to be oxidized.
That all being said, I used to take 1-2 g a day but now plan to keep tapering the dose until I start losing the benefits. I'll level off for a while and repeat.
