I don't know why but mixing these 3 together (ashwagandha, rhodiola, bacopa) I get a sense of euphoria. Almost to the point i can't concentrate on school work or just don't want to do it. Can anyone explain how these 3 together create this feeling?

Interesting. I took Rhodiola Rosea and Ashwagandha together and never experienced this. Maybe it's the addition of the bacopa.

I hate Rhodiola Rosea; makes me feel dissociated and apathetic. But I suppose there must be some people on the opposite side of the reactive bell curve.

Maybe you should just take it as a social lubricant?

How much of each herb are you taking that causes this?

Well here's a list of what I took.

Rhodiola rosea 150mg (mbs)
Ashwagandha 350mg (Gaia)
Bacopa 200mg (Thorne)- gave me a slight sense of euphoria
Then i added
Ashwagandha sensoril 225mg (jarrow) - then I just had a crazy euphoria.

This euphoria was definitely not a productive one though. I had a lot of homework yesterday and wasn't able to do any of it because of this combo. This is definitely a great combo for social lubrication, but not anything that requires mental work. Usually Everyday I just take the first two listed. I believe it was possibly the combination of bacopa and sensoril that hit me the hardest.

What happens is that those herbs work on the energy field of your body even if they are all sedating they all increase your inner energy and you seem to be pretty sensible, so just go progressively. That's not the first time I hear something like that from a combination of herbs.

I understand that herbal steriodal supplements are very variable in the potency and effect, mainly through species and batch variance.
I would be tempted to maintain current dosing schedules. Often the euphoria will abate, removing the distraction that stops the high being productive. Im going to order now

Well BAcopa is a slight SSRI
and Rhodiola rosea is a slight MAOI you combine those two and you might get yourself a serotonin high. You do that too much and you enter into a storm. You might also be undiagnosed Bipolar Type 1 and you find increase in serotonin via SSRI/MAOI activating (causes you to slightly cycle into hypomanic state).

i really like rhodiola, the energy and mood boosts are great, but i have developed after one week of use, an odd pressure in my ears, almost as if im in a plane on takeoff, it's got me worried that perhaps my blood pressure is being raised, or maybe an allergic reaction, in any event I don't intend to stop taking, hopefully it's unrelated.

I wouldn't doubt an allergic reaction. Personally I've had best results with very low doses, but have tried taking an extract that was worth about 1200 mg with my GF and we both got a burning skin rash.

Do You have reference for Bacopa and SSRI like effect connection. It seems interesting to me.

This one says each capsule is an extract made from 2500mg of dried rhodiola root. I've been taking 3 a day of these. I think I'll stick with this for the next week, see if it passes, if not I'll take a few days off and see if things improve, it could just be a quality problem too as I purchased these from an ebay 'company' and the price is almost ridiculously low compared to other brands, making me question the quality somewhat.

Bacopa affects the Opioid system as well, which can contribute to euphoria.

I'll second the possibility of an undiagnosed Bipolar disorder.

When I was much more depressed, a combination of St John's Wort, Rhodiola and Bacopa would send me into a hypomanic state almost every time I took them.
At my worst, the St John's Wort or Rhodiola on their own would sometimes be enough for a few hours of hypomania.
It doesn't happen any more, presumably because my mood is much more stable in general now.

Not sure if it is a SSRI (or even just an SRI) but it definitely has serotonergic feeling in my case:
* Mildly anxiolytic
* Mood uplift
* Slightly fatiguing
* Lowers motivation (also libido, IIRC)
* Can improve sleep

Much the same I get with Fluoxetine except that one is about an order of magnitude stronger.

These are my three favorite herbs, I use them daily and cycle them on and off. I only take Rhodiola in the morning and sometimes less then full dose of Ashwagandha in the morning, but always full dose in the evening.

Bacopa - 1 teaspoon organic powder, morning and evening
Ashwagandha - 1 teaspoon organic powder, morning and evening
Rhodiola - 1 pill, 250mg in the morning (standardized root extract 1% salidroside, not sure about how much rosavins)

I never experienced any negative except it can be quite sedating in the evening if taken to early, but I wake up really refreshed. No euphoria like mentioned above but it washes away almost all of my anxiety and makes me much more functional in times of stress.
