how long does piracetam usually stay good for? i have 2 kilos of primaforce piracetam just sitting around and i'd like to make sure i store it properly so it lasts as long as possible. any ideas..? i searched around and couldn't really find anything. thanks in advance!

A friend of mine gave me a 700 gram opened bottle of Piracetam that had been sitting around for no less than 2 years, probably longer. It sat around my house for another 6-9 months before I started taking it. It is hydrophilic and seemed to have formed rocks inside the container, but it seems to work just fine(I'd guess it is greater than 3 years old). I also stocked up in Smart Powders Fire Sale, and I am looking for ways to keep it as potent as possible. I'm considering getting some Silica packs cheap on Ebay, separating the Piracetam into 500 gram batches with the powder in a pile surround by silica packs, and wrapping it tightly in many, many, many layers of saran wrap. Then throwing it back into a closed container with more silica packs. I've heard that moisture (and air?) can get into even a well sealed plastic container fairly easily. Hoping the saran wrap will keep out almost all of the air and the silica, all of the water. I don't have a way to vacuum seal the powder, and thought this might be a reasonable alternative. Any ideas/advice/comments? Also looking for ways to preserve other bulk powders better. Piracetam seems to hold up better than other powders kept in similar containers. I throw in left-over plastic silica packs from vitamin bottles, but moisture still seems to get in.

My first tub took me about 2 years to get through, being opened every day, and I didn't notice any difference in appearance or efficacy when I re-ordered.

As for long-term storage, even vacuum bags (and I'd bet saran wrap) are permeable to slow diffusion of air. The easiest solution I can think of is to grab a bunch of large Ball canning jars with the screw-on lids, fill them up to the very top (and compress) to exclude all the air, seal them tightly, and store inside something opaque in as cool a place as possible (basement?). You could throw a silica packet on top, though I'm not sure if it's entirely necessary.

Fridge or freezer. Heat and light are the main things that degrade chemical compound.

I keep a bottle with a 2-3 month supply of Piracetam powder around and open and close if freely, but consider separating the larger supply where you only open it to pull out another 2-3 month supply. But I find Piracetam seems more stable than a lot of other powders. On the other hand, I encapsulated some Piracetam and took it to Costa Rica, very damp and hot, and the consistency of the Piracetam charged quickly in the heat and humidity. I live in the mountains, house is usually 60-72 degrees, but we get a lot of rain also, so somewhat humid. But my Piracetam seems pretty stable here.

The main problem here is that bulk piracetam is constantly exposed to oxygen due to the headspace in the bulk container and introduced to more oxygen each time you open the container. Your question cannot be adequately answered until we know the rate of oxidation. Macroscopic observations are also not useful, as many drugs do not change color, form or smell when they react with oxygen.

From my personal experience I've had 500 g of Piracetam for over a year and it still works fine for me as long as it's coupled with a good choline source.

I had a question, which is a little off topic, but I couldn't find another thread to answer it.

Where do you buy your Piracetam from? (Mods, if this kind of question or talk is not allowed, please let me know!)

Who has the most reasonable price? Who has the 'best' quality?
