renfr: How's the Swanson Bacopa treating you? I just received my order a few days ago and started taking them myself.. it's been 3 days of 1 pill in the morning and 1 before sleep, and I definitely feel more stabilized.. not lethargic, but defintely not very active.. more like a "flatline" kind of feeling.. i definitely dont feel as agitated as i used to get.
Also, where did you get your ALCAR and segiline from? Please PM me the source if you don't want to post here.
I don't know if it was me at the time or if it's Swanson's but Swanson's bacopa made me kind of "drunk", however this side effect fades out with racetam supplementation.
I don't use Swanson's anymore, international shipping fees are horribly high (but their product is of high quality), now I switched to Himalaya brand which is of the same quality anyway.
The "lethargic" side effect is due to drop in dopamine neurons activity. This is not harmful for your brain, in fact it's rather neuroprotective however decrease in dopamine activity makes you totally unmotivated, lethargic and very lazy. Also this can trigger erectile disfunction.
The best way to benefit from Bacopa's mood stabilizing and memory enhancing properties without the laziness side effect, is to take a substance such as sulbutiamine which upregulates dopamine activity.
Each time I take sulbutiamine after "binging" on Bacopa I feel motivated again and I have no laziness issues. However required sulbutiamine dosage is at least 1000mg (to me) and that can be very expensive. (sulbutiamine costs 15 bucks a month for 1g/day).
Both. I took some pure herb. And, I'm suggesting it was over any legal limits.
Rice was recently in the news as having elevated levels of arsenic, for example. It can happen. A regulation doesn't make something impossible.
Then in that case, heavy metals overdose is highly possible. Bacopa herb is imported from countries with no proper safety regulations and presence of toxic substances is very likely.
But yeah you're right, even in western countries food can be contaminated and this is really a lack of luck.
