Are you planning on having them all speak separately or will they all be there together to interact?

I'd love to hear what these people would say to each other.

Early to say, but I've had an interest in this field for a while.
I think I'll find my way to Atlanta,
good conversation in good company.
How do immortalists party, btw?
Dancing, wine, women? - rock, or dance music
Lean chicken or a nice steak?
Business casual, formal, dressed to kill, hmmm....
Surely not lab coats, and goggles ;) way too sexy
Maybe it's the philosophy of work before play.
I think, immortalists tend to a philosophical discussion over a nice meal.
But, I'm reading stereotypes. Someone clear up this mystery.
How do immortalists like to celebrate? :)

PS*Don't mind me, I'm just trying to be a little playful. This site is awesome by the way, led me to some great reading.

Although the registration fee is not a problem for me financially Bruce, the trip there unfortunately might prove to be.
Living in Central California as I do, thats a long distance trip, and a rather expensive one for just one day.

I will take a close look at my funds and see what I can come up with.
I would very much like to attend, as I unfortunately was not able to last year.
I'll let you know.

Understandable, Omnido.

It's many months away...but still perhaps promoting it more openly is a good idea. I'll post something on Google Posts, LEF's forum, and a few other places soon.

I wonder if a web popup when people enter our website informing them of the event is a good idea.

Thoughts? Comments?

Heh... web popups are one of my greatest dis-likes... I instinctively delete them all usually without looking... at least the ones my anti-popup sw does not handle... also pupups usually influence my evaluation of a website and organization negatively... thus I would rather not risk this in others and would therefore like to find alternative avenues to increasing interest in the conference.

Thus, thank you Life Mirage in helping toward this goal... and thanks for signing up for the conference as well!

See you in Atlanta,
Bruce

First of all, don't think of this conference as being "many months away." Think of it as being "ONLY a few months away!!" People need to plan, and word has to spread SOON, or we risk having a conference where the speakers outnumber the attendees. Not good at all.

I will try to think of some things, but we all need to put our heads together and get the word out to anyone who will listen. If any press are invited (and we should try to get some -- perhaps PopSci since they've covered Aubrey in the past) then our priority will be to FILL the room, even if it means luring some people (like MPrize donators, etc) with discounts, helping to organize groups of Transhumanists from around the country, etc.

For now, rather than a pop-up, the ImmInst Conference should be promoted prominently on the front page in big letters. The moment people come to the site, they should see we are having a major conference soon, and they should feel compelled to learn more. Also, it will help our other members remember to sign up.

As for me, I will sign up soon. I definitely will be there, but the irony is I normally work on two major conferences a year for the Securities & Exchange Commission, and one of them happens to be Nov 2-5. Looks like I will have to work the first 2 days of the SEC conference in NY, then fly down Thursday night or early Friday morning to help set up for the conference on Saturday.
