I recently found out that I have candida overgrowth in my body. Right now I am on a low sugar diet and taking various supplements. For curing my candida overgrowth I am currently taking Candida Clear. Two days ago I had to take a break though due to die-off symptoms being worse than the usual day (since I have an exam on friday). For candida I've been researching and it seems as if coconut oil and certain mushrooms are good for candida overgrowth. I placed an order for reishi and coconut oil, which I should receive next week. Is there anyone who's has experience with candida or possibly cured it? Any tips supplements, diet, and exercise wise?

I looked it up recently for a relative. Here is what I found in addition to coconut oil, allicin and garlic. From my notes:

• B5, cysteine and B1 to counteract toxicity of acetaldehyde and gliotoxin
• NAC to break disulfide bonds of gliotoxin
• nattokinase
• Candex

• curcumin:

Curcumin was a more potent antifungal than fluconazole against P. brasiliensis, the causal agent of the neglected disease paracoccidioidomycosis.

Curcumin dramatically inhibited the adhesion of Candida species isolated from AIDS patients to BEC, demonstrating that curcumin is a promising lead compound that warrants further investigation into its therapeutical use in immunocompromised patients.

• nicotinamide:

Inhibition of Hst3p activity by conditional gene repression or nicotinamide treatment results in a loss of cell viability associated with abnormal filamentous growth, histone degradation and gross aberrations in DNA staining. 2010

Inhibitory effect of nicotinamide on enzymatic activity of selected fungal strains causing skin infection. 2010
nicotinamide exhibited biological activity towards C. albicans, T. rubrum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes, which resulted in a decrease in the activity of enzymes produced by the fungi.

I did a lot of research on this "candida" thing, and it's all a bunch of BS, IMHO, unless you are seriously ill. Skip the extreme diet and random supplements. One thing I noticed in my research is that no one is ever really "cured", which was a huge red flag for me. If this is really helping you and you believe it's Candida then you will be doing this for the rest of your life and it's probably not something you want. If you have stomach issues and this is helping, consider the things that might have been removed from your diet such as Gluten. You could have Celiac Disease. A while back I got testing at enterolab.com and it helped a lot.

Good luck.

How did you find out you had Candida overgrowth, and where is it (mucosal, skin, intestinal, etc.)?

If your really have Candidiasis, get antifungal treatment.

It's probably a good idea to try and boost your immune system to help knock out the yeast. I'd look into astragalus root and ganoderma lucidum mushroom.

Easy to cure really; just find a virus that lives on candida only and eat it! :|o

I feel that Phage Therapy is a very important and effective therapy/cure for all sorts of antibiotic resistant and otherwise persistant bacterial infections.
Its not well known because you cant patent virii provided by nature and make an ill gotten fortune, but it will be one of the big fallbacks when antibiotics become useless.

The difference between typing Colloidal Silver vs Silver Nanoparticles into a search for:
silver nanoparticles  candida biofilm is night n day

Effect of silver nanoparticles on Candida albicans biofilms: an ultrastructural study
Our results demonstrate that silver nanoparticles are potent inhibitors of C. albicans biofilm formation. SEM observations are consistent with an overall loss of structure of biofilms mostly due to disruption of the outer cell membrane/wall and inhibition of filamentation.TEM indicates the permeabilization of the cell wall and subsequent disruption of the structural layers of the outer fungal cell wall. The anti-biofilm effects are via cell wall disruption.

Silver Nanoparticles: A Promising Antifungal Agent against the Growth and Biofilm Formation of the Emergent Candida auris
an antibiofilm activity assay was determined using a colony-forming assay and a cell viability assay by a live–dead yeast kit. Significant antifungal and antibiofilm activity of AgNPs was detected against all isolates; MIC was <6.25 μg/mL, the range of MFC was from 6.25 to 12.5 μg/mL for all isolates, and the highest value of IC50 was 3.2 μg/mL.

Effect of silver nanoparticles alone and in combination with fluconazole on Candida albicans
SNP alone and in combination with Flu were also found effective in controlling the budding and germ tube formation of C. albicans. The dimorphic shift from the budding form to the filamentous form aids the fungus in penetrating epithelia (Gow, 1997). SNP improves antibiotics' ability to adhere to cell membranes when administered together with other antibiotics and block the budding process. SNP has showed the properties of a biofilm inhibitor

I'm not saying "Take Silver!"  Dosage etc hasn't been looked at..?  etc-etc?
So this is here to be researched more, thought about and discussed and the inevitable etc. :)

But I will say this:  Given the choice between looking and Papa Smurf and being F dead, Blue I am!  :)
I dare say my friend will see it the same way.

Anti Biofilm  Is where one should start.  Nothing works well through it.

Mechanisms, clinically curative effects, and antifungal activities of cinnamon oil and pogostemon oil complex against three species of Candida
...Irregular hollows appeared on the surfaces, inside organelles were destroyed and the cells burst after treatment...

...TEM examination over a 48 - 72 h period indicated that the cell walls were damaged, organelles were destroyed and most cytoplasms became empty bubbles. Sixty intestinal Candida-infected patients were treated with a capsule containing cinnamon and pogostemon oil. The curative ratio was 71.67% (43/60), and the improvement ratio was 28.33% (17/ 60), giving a total ratio of 100%..!

Pogostemon who!?  :)

Berberine Antifungal Activity in Fluconazole-Resistant Pathogenic Yeasts: Action Mechanism Evaluated by Flow Cytometry and Biofilm Growth Inhibition in Candida spp.
For biofilm assessment, a colorimetric 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay was used to determine the susceptibility of sessile cells. The isolates used in the study belonged to the Laboratory of Bioprospection and Experiments in Yeast (LABEL) of the Federal University of Ceará. After 24 and 72 h, fluconazole-resistant Candida and Cryptococcus neoformans strains showed berberine MICs equal to 8 μg/ml and 16 μg/ml, respectively. Cytometric analysis showed that treatment with berberine caused alterations to the integrity of the plasma and mitochondrial membranes and DNA damage, which led to cell death, probably by apoptosis.
