hi,

I've been using piracetam for one month now. Always 800mg in the mourning and 800mg in the afternoon. Since last week I've added 600mg of choline citrate in the mourning. However since than, I started getting brain fog sometimes. Brain fog is some very very light feeling of pressure on your head and also a weird feeling of not being able to concentrate well, no clarity. Also, a bit sensitive to light.

So monday I took my last dose. Now we are wednesday and I'm still experiencing the brain fog... It scares me..
I also drank alcohol with the piracetam in the weekends, but not very very much.. (like 8 beers every saturday or so)

What should I do?

Cheers...

8 beers isn't much alcohol?

Anyway, give yourself a little more time. What you might be experiencing is the contrast between the brain on Piracetam versus baseline.

Everyone knows that 1/1000 people permanently damage themselves by repeated Piracetam use. I guess you shoulda thought of that before you took it.

Just j/k.

I would try the choline without the piracetam and see if that helps. It could take a while for your acetylcholine system to go back to baseline.

Hi,

thanks for replying... Today, the same + a very small headache..

It could also be caused by the L-theanine, maybe melatonin, or maybe magnesium..

I'm going to try some choline citrate for a couple of days without taking anything else now.
I'll report back...

Cheers

Also, it seems if I'm cross-eying sometimes and I have to refocus. Especially when I look into the light, I get a feeling in my brain..

It certainly could! I'm unable to take melatonin (regular or TR) because it causes excessive fatigue and brain fog the next day. Depending on the form, magnesium could also be having such an effect (what time of day are you taking it?). Theanine too, though I've seldom heard of such an effect. Did you have these going before you started the piracetam?

You might also consider that it's not the piracetam that's doing this to you, but the choline citrate. I get severe brain fog and depressed mood if I take as little as 200mg. (This is why I take ALCAR instead of a direct choline precursor.)

You'd probably do best to stop everything for a few days, and add things one at a time so you can tell what's doing what. :)

Well the melatonin I've been taking that for 6 months, never had problems.
Idem magnesium, I take that in the morning and before bed.
L-theanine, just started last week.

Today focus is a bit better, but the headache is still there. I've taken 1200 choline citrate to see if this helps.
Anyway, I will stop take supps for a while and see how it goes. Just the fish oil I will continue..

cheers

Any idea how long that should take?

It's been 9 days since last piracetam dose, the headaches are gone, but today I still have difficulties with focussing and vision. If I look too long at something, I can't stay focused anymore. Although it's allready a bit better.

Yesterday I tried 600mg ALCAR and it provoked these symptoms more!

I didn't have brain-fog but day before yesterday I incurred a non-stop tension headache, the first one i'd ever experienced, after taking some cholinergic substances (alcar + caffeine, after regular choline bitartrate consumption). The headache persisted for 24 hours, getting neither better or worse, until I took some piracetam (500 mg) which halved the tension, then another 1000mg which made it go away completely.

Maybe you stopped taking the wrong substance?

It's because your binge drinking 8 fucking beers every saturday. I've also heard some people say on this forum that you shouldn't drink alcohol with piracetam.

8 beers is nothing!

Sounds like the theanine is the culprit, since it started at almost exactly the same time, either that or your just worn out in general, have a bit of a rest.

I felt like trash when getting half way through my first glass of cider after taking piracetam day 1. The effects of the alcohol were exactly the same in every respect except cognitive decline and inability to hold a single thought together, which was many drinks too early and too intense. Even though you might think you switch your brain off when socialising and vibing, that experience tought me that the brain is far from switched off when doing so, and that I needed a lot more from brain than it was giving me in order to have any fun.

Try these simple things:

- Avoid marijuana at all cost
- Avoid alcohol at all cost
- Try many combination of Piracetam and salts form of Choline. Particularly small dose.
- Try aerobic exercise
- Try fish oil supplement (with Vitamin E)
- Don't use other medication
- Drink more water (brain fog can accure when one is dehydrated)
- Make sure you are getting 100% of daily vitmains and minerals -- http://nutritiondata.self.com/

Hi,

I guess this was just the thing. Everything is back to normal again, focus is back to normal, no more headaches etc, vision: back to normal also. This took about 2 weeks... though it was a scary experience!

I'm trying rhodiola now; it's much easier on yourself.
