I made a thread on reddit where I reported my findings over the years. Those interested might want to check it out.

May I ask where your claims about L-lysine being anxiolytic come from? Please understand that you are on a forum where people would prefer to know these answers rather than just individuals claiming such things. It's okay if this is based solely on personal experience, but please indicate that, or if it's based on research please point us to the proper articles.

Just googling for lysine & anxiety gives loads of results, here some pubmed research:
http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/12468617 Dietary L-lysine deficiency increases stress-induced anxiety and fecal excretion in rats.
http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/15159538 Lysine fortification reduces anxiety and lessens stress in family members in economically weak communities in Northwest Syria.

Thanks. I use to take L-Lysine for collagen enhancement, I had no idea it was anxiolytic. Maybe I will give it another trial now.

Lysine might be anxiolytic if it's correcting a deficiency, but if you are already getting enough, is more of it still anxiolytic?

Truthfully I didn't expect much when I picked it up as a supplement, but the effect is definitely there. I always take it with zinc so that might be augmenting its effect.
I first took 2g(2 tablets) 3 times a day, but twice is definitely enough. The effect is definitely there, I'm much, MUCH calmer of a person.

Hi, Just wanted to chime in. ;)
I'm 42 and I had tinnitus due to clubbing while heavy-second-hand-smoking-and-drinking-extra-cheap-booze. I've had it for over 15 years. It's not too bad and I can live without thinking about it for some periods. Lately it's gotten worse, after a couple of nights out in bars where I didn't really care about the noise. I used to be pretty anal about earplugs, but lately I relaxed about it a bit.

I take most of the supplements recommended here for tinnitus, although not everyday and not sure about the dosage. I'm adjusting my regime and will publish it soon.

I know, nothing useful here. Keep walking. :|?

Abstract: Low level laser therapy (LLLT) has been suggested as a treatment modality for reducing tinnitus. The scientific literature is ambiguous and the suggested treatment- and laser parameters differ considerably. Most studies have taken for granted that the target for laser therapy is the inner ear. However, it is evident that a large group of tinnitus sufferers have muscular tension in the head and neck area (somatosensory tinnitus), causing a phantom noise. If a differential diagnosis between these two groups is not performed, the outcome of any study becomes serendipity. Three double blind studies have confirmed the effect of LLLT, but without considering the somatosensory aspect, the evaluation of these studies is problematic. It could even be the case that the irradiation into the ear actually has been treating a tense masticatory muscle close to the meatus acusticus and unknowingly treated somatosensory tinnitus.

Either way, a good parametric equalizer should be able to achieve either of the changes (albeit most likely not a 50 db boost, that is *huge*), on the fly, with every type of music. It may sound a little weird (the article mentioned the music sounding a little dull at first), but I guess that would be ok...

Now how do I figure out the frequency of my tinnitus ? I had done a check up last year (when it started) and my diagram read about as to be expected at my age... If it matters, I am pretty sure mine was initially stress related as I had only very marginal exposure to noise in the past few years, I usually listen to music with good In Ear Headphones but at what I consider to be pretty sane levels, very little club going or concert inflicted exposure, either.

Sometime in 2001, there was an audiologist downtown who had some kind of rack
micoprocessor-based analyzer which actually displayed my tinnitus in both ears,
very clearly and in red, superimposed on the audiogram in white.

When he saw it and the severity of my tinnitus, he was a bit stunned, and asked me
what was wrong with my health.

I was stunned too, and didn't realize they had the technology to detect and measure
tinnitus already.

I forgot to check out what the name of the analyzer was. When I told this to one of
the prominent tinnitus researchers in the States, he asked me to get a printout of the
graph from him. Unfortunately, the audiologist had no printer connected to it.

He has since moved.

While doing some research on Ginkgo Biloba EGb 761 I came across allot of info pointing to it being an effective treatment option for tinnitus, the following links might be of some help:
