Cerberus - I don't think there are any issues at these doses. Adding ginkgo on a sporadic schedule shouldn't cause any issues - I'd take bacopa & brahmi once or twice a week.

Gracias, amigo. You might want to compress some of this info into a larger post, maybe make a rough outline of what's contained in these 30 pages. It might help with some of the questions being asked that have already been covered.

As for the Chinese manufacturer, so far everything has been great. I'm still alive and the product seems to be the real deal. :)

after using ALCAR, alpha-GPC, and CDP-choline as the choline source (previously none have been an issue themselves too), and 75mg and 100mg daily TAU, along with decent levels of fish oil, vitamin E, and B-vitamin co-factors, i'm sad to say i'm still sad. while somewhat benefiting me in the nootropic sense, my emotional state is still quite low. i'm going to be doing some more tweaking just in case, but overall i've categorized myself as a non-responder :(

Owtsgmi - my current stack:
250-300mg UMP, morning & night
500mg ALCAR, morning and night
100mg alpha-gpc, morning
1 berocca, morning
500IU vitamin E, morning
4x flaxseed oil capsules, morning
2x grape-seed extract, morning
.. and the occasional random vitamin/mineral/supplement, as needed.

It's been nearly 6 months now. No tolerance, side-effects or issues observed - I've tried changing the stack and removing components. I've tried ceasing all supplements for a week (I didn't like it.) I've played around with doses and now ALCAR/alpha-gpc mixes - I'm still feeling good and my current stack is working very well for me. :)

Thanks, mate! I have a similar stack but 250mg alcar x 2, plus a bunch of other supps. I am glad things are working for you. I am feeling quite good at the moment myself. Still willing to tweak the stack and polish the edges a bit still, though. Been a little more than one month on uridine.

Have you considered supplementing with either a dopaminergic (e.g., rasagaline) or a serotonergic (e.g., 5htp or Rhodiola) in low experimental doses? The thought here is that the uridine will modulate or enhance these substances. Maybe the uridine is doing its job (increasing membrane fluidity), but there isn't enough raw material to work with. Just a theory.

a tweak i'm about to experiment with: switch from traditional high EPA, lower DHA, to high DHA, lower EPA.

question: should i take the DHA/EPA all at once with the uridine, or spread throughout the day?

Most people have seen results by once-per-day. Not sure what the absorption rate or upper limit is on DHA.

Are there tangible factors in your life that could be holding you back? Eg. Events/issues, trauma, lack of sleep?

Also, perhaps try adding some L-tyrosine? As Owtsgmi said, maybe you aren't making dopamine?

In fact, I'd love to test that idea out across a wider sample size - any uridine non-responders here that would like to try supplementing 1-2g a day of L-tyrosine? Maybe the uridine-induced dopamine modulation isn't effective for you because you aren't synthesizing enough DA to be released by uridine supplementation.

this could definitely be true cause I benefit a lot from uridine and I was already supplementing tyrosine.

it the tyrosine worth trying in my case, given i already have tyrosine in my diet through my relatively large protein intake (i'm paranoid my work weightlifting in the gym goes to waste if i don't eat and/or supplement w/ extra protein)?

I had been using roughly 1,5g Tyrosine for a while (from whey powder, pills) but in a somewhat unstructured fashion. When my current SHR-5 package runs out I might try and cycle with Uridine again but I am relatively skeptical it is going to do much more than last time round.

Having said that, I would love to get my hands on a strong dopamine agonist to try but my shrink refuses to prescribe me one before doing ADD screening :(

L-tyrosine will raise DA in a healthy brain by around 30%. Much, much more if tyrosine is not being synthesised in a normal manner. :)

I am not sure I am non-responder, without being in someones else's brain, it is hard to compare. I do consider that my baseline might have already been achieved before I supplemented with Uridine. Or could be the sleep issue that has been mentioned before.

Maybe I am on the wrong track here but I was going to start taking l-glutamine to see if that made difference and was considering adding l-tyrosine in about a month.

Tried the Alpha-GPC, Fishoil, B-Complex. Vitamin E, UMP combo for about 3 weeks and didn't experience any results. I upped the sublingual Uridine from 300mg to 600mg yesterday and didn't notice any improvement. Today I added L-Glutamic Acid because I also take Piracetam and I've been in a good mood all day, laughing way more intensely and more frequently. Not sure if it's the higher UMP dose or the added L-Glutamic Acid.

My stack:

- 2000mg fish oil per day (360 EPA / 240 DHA). I read too much fish oil causes inflamation, might not be relevant for you guy's but I am dealing with something else. I started out with a lot more but cut it down.
- Vitamin E (400UI)
- B complex. Started out taking it every day, now cutting it down to once every 2/3 days.
- UMP. Started out with 300 sublingual UMP, now upped to 500.

I am also taking some other things sporadically.

After a couple of weeks I do feel a bit of a mood lift and a bit more 'on the ball'. I've got enough UMP to go another couple of weeks, so will keep with it.

I have some health issues so I am not the norm.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned EPA. EPA from fish oil has at least as much, if not more, evidence that it promotes brain health as opposed to DHA. Both are important, but many studies suggest that the EPA to DHA ratio should include more EPA.

Heres an interesting study, but there are literally 100's of studies out there on this topic.

1st time poster --
Good reponse within 3 days -- feel more energetic, happier, better focus. It is day 8 on UMP
I am 49, was competitive athlete through college, have gym in house
Less caffeine only 2 cups/day vs 6 cups, no caffieine needed in evening (nice)
I carb-cycle (low-carb 2-3 days then high carb/low fat for 1-2 meals)

Morning routine:
2 cups coffee
2-3g ALCAR + 300mg ala
50 - 65 minute workout
folic acid 800mcg + CoQ10 200mg + fish oil 2.4g + D3 1000 IU + Vitamin C 1g + pantothenic acid 1g + Vitamin E mixed (400 IU) -- I realize I could cut back on C and CoQ10
sublinguil Methylcobalamin Vitamin B-12 5000 mcg
Uridine UMP 300 mg sublinguil
shower
1/2 can 7ounces ordinary grocery store Alakan salmon (salmon is cheap here and I like it)
shave, dress for work, check e-mail
Remaining 1/2 can Alaskan salmon on 8 ounces of spinach with red onion and black pepper
drive to work (35 minutes)
2 cups of berries (blackberries, blue berries) + tart cherries
green tea

A fairly large EPA dose is definitely already in the mix. :)

The reason the DHA:EPA ratio favours DHA is mostly because of the patents mentioned that do the same. The other reason is that the natural human ratio of DHA:EPA also seems to heavily favour DHA above EPA. That being said, I think people may need to find their optimum dose levels through some adjustments after the initial 2 weeks. As I take flaxseed oil instead of fish oil, my own ratio / conversion factor is near-impossible to predict..

Why would the non-responders necessarily not be producing enough dopamine? Those Parkinson's (a condition it has been suggested uridine could help with) are producing dopamine well below what anyone in this thread will be.

I've been taking TAU 100-175mg a day for almost a month with no noticeable positive effect to report. I guess I'm a non-responder to uridine. Yesterday, I ordered some acetyl tyrosine to add to the uridine. I'll report in a few days.

User1 - that's a step further down the chain. PD has missing/dead neurons, but surrounding neurons may be able to pick up the slack, thanks to homeostasis/DA agonists. There are other medical issues, such as PKU or phenylketonuria, where you aren't able to synthesize l-tyrosine, so you can't then make dopamine or noepinephrine.

JR - perhaps try only 75-100mg TAU, as well? :)

I'll try that. I'm not giving up. I might give the UMP a try also after I run out of TAU.
