uridine still just makes me depressed and irritable. been taking it regularly for a month. tried 30 to 300mg ump sublingually. with and without fish oil, choline, quality multi. if I take uridine before bed, it makes me have depressed and irritable dreams all night.only been sticking with it b/c of the supposed memory benefits. but i'm about ready to be done.

Normally this happens if you drink coffee/energy drinks or smoke. Do you fall into that category?

Sometimes it can be a genetic issue with inability to process folate. There will undoubtably be more reasons.

i use caffeine, but not every day, not in huge amounts (usually just drink green tea), and never after 5pm. I've tried uridine on days without caffeine and it was the same. I don't use nicotine.

the depression i feel with uridine feels like low dopamine. i know uridine sensitizes dopamine receptors. any chance that it does so by lowering dopamine (thereby causing the receptors to upregulate)?

Not by that mechanism..

You could try supplementing l-methylfolate and see if that improves things. A fasting blood test could also be useful.

Mr. Happy - could you reiterate the connection between uridine, folate and other B-vitamins?

I recently had bloodwork done and tested fairly high on folate (upper 20's) while being at the low-end for B-12. I get occasional bouts of depression, though when endogenously-related they appear to originate from excess choline or racetam-withdrawal. Correcting a vitamin D deficiency helped, but hasn't been a magic pill. FWIW I've been supplementing fish oil for around 9 months, take 250mg uridine sublingually per day, and generally take conservative doses ALCAR on days when I'm not eating eggs.

High folate can mask symptoms of a B12 deficiency, which isn't helpful. What's your diet like?

Could be bowel fauna/flora or liver issues. Can you continue to stay off the coffee and add some vitamin C to your stack?

Maybe try probiotics, also? Caffeine can cause issues for bowel flora/fauna (read up on taking iron supplements and coffee being a problem) and competes with uridine, so if you can manage to 'nix it for a month for testing, could be helpful.

try mucuna pruriens seed powder, aprox 5g/day (no extract). I don't need coffee since I am using it, and if you are suffering from a dopamine deficit this will improve it too.

I bought CAS 3387-36-8, but vanilla uridine should be fine. 33% smaller doses, by weight, would be needed for straight uridine compared to UMP.

I'm really not sure.. there may not be much difference.

Sounds great... cause I can get the powder here. I am in a good position to judge the differences now too, cause yesterday I received uridine 300mg capsules from cardiovascular research. So I gonna try and get the powder and see what the differences are.
Question is, if there is some kind of adaptation to uridine, if there is, then the first one would always feel the best...

Took 1 in the evening and 1 just prior to going to bed, each time together with o-3. Also, I happen to take mucuna pruriens seed powder regularly, so dopamine should be in check.

So far I feel great, motivated, a little bit of "I was just on vacation" feeling, I feel more aware of my reality (not a "higher resolution" effect like what I had when I increased dopamine, more like I am more aware of all the sensory input). This morning after I woke up one thought kept repeating itself in my mind: "I want to get things DONE!!" which is not usual for me, normally I have to force myself to do stuff.

Also I seem to have a small tinnitus... no biggie though.

BUT... all of what I wrote could be placebo, since I've read a lot about its effects and side effects, so I knew what to expect. I hope it is not, but only time will tell... If it stays that way... I'm sold.

Only problem is that in europe its very expensive, its, depending on source about 1,6-3€ a day, thats about 2-4 US dollars a day. And the cheapest source, that is 1,6€/day is only available if I purchase uridine powder 250g for about 500€ :/ Guaranteed pharma quality then, though. These prices are for a dosage of 600mg/day.

Yesterday I was emotionally easily irritable in the morning (had some negative situations, and they affected me big time emotionally)... but after the second dose of ump in the evening nothing could shake my emotions. I was just in control.
I am not sure it is the uridine(could also have been that the negative effects were 6 hours in the past and I just got over it), but the effect was pretty strong.

Now I am wondering - anyone used higher dosages of ump to keep emotions in check? Right now I'm doing home care for my grandma, and its emotionally very taxing so this would be great.

Yes..

Dose twice a day and consider sublingual doses @ around 250mg.

Maybe warn your partner that you may be a bit unemotional for a few days?

I've been liking 150mg ump sub in the morning. It feels less intense. The emotional dullness was becoming apparent at 300mg.

what are some good teas in replacement of green tea if you do not recommend caffeine, or is that ok? i usually drink 5-6 cups a day


I'm a fan of Rooibos from South Africa. I'm pretty sure there's no caffeine.

I have to take 900mg/day plus to get rock hard emotional stability... (this is with cardiovascular research ump 300mg/cap, sublingual). 300-600mg/day are good for elevated mood, motivation so far. Maybe, once the body is adapting/repairing the brain, less will be more effective?

I'm already getting more productive. yay! But, I also started with forskolin + artichoke extract.

I like jasmine, rose or chamomile, personally. The first 2 go well with milk. :)
