I've been using uridine on and off while also doing frequent sessions of neurofeedback... all I can say is holy shit. This stuff really seems to boost the efficacy of the treatment. Sometimes it makes me so stimulated and my mind so active that I have some difficulty getting to sleep. One time I had only 5 hours sleep, but woke up and carried on with my day like it was nothing. This is unprecedented for me. In some ways I feel it is too much, and the amount of growth it stimulates a little overboard. The day after I feel supercharged. After just two uses of the combo of uridine and NFB, I feel I've hit cognitive heights quite significantly beyond the progress I was previously making with just NFB alone, which was itself incredibly impressive. Unfortunately the decreased sleep seems to negatively affect me after a few days of use, so I cannot use uridine continuously at the moment. If any of you guys have experienced insomnia using this stuff, was there anything you took which was successful at attenuating it?

If you can't sleep you should probably try taking less or taking it earlier in the day. Melatonin and lithium are my go-to sleep aids. 0.5mg-1mg melatonin and if I really can't fall asleep, 20mg lithium orotate sublingually.

Today I received my package from nootropisdepot (I ordered from the Netherlands, but delivery was quick and price is acceptable).
Question: the dosage is 150-250mg Uridine twice a day. Is it ok if I take my second dosage without fish oil?

Good idea hephaestus, I'll try titrating the dose upwards from small amounts... I just took 60mg sublingually. When I take it, I do always take it in the morning... it's not the direct stimulation itself but the downstream effects that interfere with my sleep. Melatonin gives me crazy ass dreams as well, even on 300mcg doses. And I wake up feeling groggy. I guess I'm not a neurotypical specimen... nootropics generally don't agree with me.

Uridine is indeed stimulating but are you sure it's such a good idea to be taking it when you do neurofeedback? IIRC uridine functions as an NMDA antagonist (think that may have been the reason I didn't react very well to it), couldn't this have an negative effect if you want lasting changing from the NFB?
Wasn't MrHappy feeding his newly born daughter with that stuff btw? She's still alive and well??

Made my mind go blank more than usually.
I feel it can be good to take after stims/dopaminergic drugs though.

If that is a primary mechanism of action then perhaps it could be a hindrance. On the other hand it is supposed to induce greater generation of synapses, and increased phosphatidylcholine generation, which is a key component of phospholipid membranes, which the brain seems quite partial to. Having been taking NT Factor EnergyLipids powder recently (which is a mixture of important phospholipid components) I think that the integrity of cellular membranes plays an important role in cognition. When treading in unknown territory I have only my subjective experience and wild speculations to go by, and my experience tells me the combo is a good one

You could try lithium orotate then, it's super cheap. I crushed up a whole bottle of 120mg pills and measure the powder.

Is lithium not a little extreme for mild insomnia? It's used in the treatment of Bipolar disorder right? The side effect list makes it look pretty damn toxic
#2472
Posted 08 April 2014 - 08:53 PM
That's sort of like saying, 'the side effects of water include drowning'. The dose for bipolar is something like 300mg-400mg elemental lithium when used alone and 30mg-50mg elemental lithium when used as an adjunct to other medications.

I'll also vouch for low dose lithium orotate. I take 2.5mg before bed each night and it has an overall positive effect on my mood, more level-headed.
Not to mention it has been shown to modestly increase gray matter in bipolar patients.

As can I. One simple Lithium Orotate pill helps me sleep greatly, without any negative side effects being noted thus far after around a month of taking it nearly every night.

I have 2 questions about this stack.
1) What is the reason to waiting 2 weeks before using Choline? I heard a few others just start the whole stack before waiting for choline without any negative effects. Is this to be safe incase either Uridine or Choline gives negative side-effects?
2) On days that I plan to study or read a lot, is it okay use modafinil while on this stack?

it's not a big deal if you decide to start with both immediately, but it's nice to just start with uridine to know exactly how you feel on it so you don't have to second guess yourself or anything like that.

I've been taking the stack just at night and then modafinil in the morning and it's working great so far as my mood seems lifted and I have the urge to be productive. Lithium orotate has been helpful so far, especially if you have an overactive amygdala, it helps to slow those thoughts down a bit. Such a low dose taken regularly doesn't seem harmful in the many months I've taken it. I only take 2.5 mg sublingually and it quells my thoughts better than other anxiolytics.
I usually buy UMP in capsule form, but I think bulk powder is better and more worth it. Looking towards nootropics depot or smart powders as their price seems better than SN, CR or the jarrows formula one.

uridine does not seem to fall under "nootropic", as it is a nucleoside. I'm guessing the GPC and DHA creates such synergy when mixed with uridine? I still have not tried this cocktail mix but something close: DNA/RNA supplement, DMAE, and DHA (algae based, not fish).

In other words, if it makes you smarter, its a nootropic. The chemical can be made out of literally anything, and doesn't truly need to be a chemical at all (as some would argue that Binaural Beats, TULIP and tDCS are nootropic in nature)
And your personal blend of supplements that you say is like Happy Stack? Isn't like it at all. Dimethylaminoethanol is not similar in chemical structure, or effect, to Glycerophosophocholine. And RNA supplements are not the same thing as Uridine Monophosphate. It may have had its own brand of effects, but they would be different from Happy Stack.

Alright, I know it is a bit early to give any kind of 'review' but I just wanted to post what I've experienced thus far.
6 days into it. I posted my stack on the previous page I believe. I started taking Choline just 2 days ago though.
Uridine + DHA + vitamins + healthy diet and exercise (diet and exercise not new) seems to have improved so much. I wake up much more alert. I feel more productive and actually get much more done than I would have. I saw a feel people say they felt 'zen-like' and I think that's spot on. Also, my sleeping habits are better.
The only thing I want that I haven't felt so far is retaining more info from class lectures and studying. Perhaps its because my Physics professor is indeed horrible, my choline hasn't kicked in just yet, or maybe I need modafinil ontop of everything to see some real results.
This is my first nootropic stack and I'm glad to see results from it. If anyone has suggestions for motivation to study and retaining more info and critically think better, please let me (us) know.

hi everyone, I am (not completely) new here, but I've been following this topic for a very long time and I've been taking uridine + CDP Choline and DHA for a few months now.
I'm quite happy with the results but the reason why I have made an account here is one thing I wanted to ask you.
I'd been taking uridine from JR, later I switched to superiornutraceuticals but now I am in UK (I ordered to Poland before) and I am afraid that package from outside EU with such content could be seized or I could pay lots of taxes or oder stuff here in England. So I was thinking about buying it from some british website but I am not sure if it's legit.
So I wanted to ask if someone has already bought it from them and can tell about its purity. I cannot paste a link within my first 10 posts :D but I can describe the website as smartnootropics co uk. Has anybody ordered stuff, especially UMP from them?

The Uridine from smartnootropics (the powder) is from MindNutrition, and is as far as I know a reputable company. However the prices are very high, I ordered from Nootropicsdepot and I'm located in The Netherlands. Quality is good, quick delivery and prices are way lower.

Any specific reason for sublingual dosing of lithium orotate?
Well for instance like last night at subway I had too many things going on, and needed to slow down and chill out a bit so took 1/2 sublingual and you can feel it slowing you down a bit. I like to be able to tell when something is working and sublingual is faster and stronger (thus utilizing more of the product). I try to be careful taking too many things sublingually because when that happens with like noopept or seritony stuff my mind gets too speedy, so just one at a time. Just make sure you check a mirror because my lips were all white and the people there probably thought I was on some rocks lol

Thanks for update about nootropicsdepot, I just ordered from them so now more optimistic it will be a good batch. I've tried jarrows formula ump (from amazon or iherb) which is good but pricey, tau from CR which I dont seem to like much, and I'm wondering if taking this (the TAU) at night is causing stomach upset in the morning, or one of the other many things in my stack lol. May switch to taking the stack just in the morning instead of just at night to balance stomach issues.

Where did you get sublingual lithium orotate?
I don't believe you can just crush up a tablet of something and expect it to absorb sublingually. Am I mistaken?
#2487
Posted 11 April 2014 - 04:20 PM
Just doctor's best from amazon, it looks kind of like a milky altoid and melts very easily in your mouth within minutes, so for me there's no need to crush it when it melts so easily. Its cheap but good enough for me, maybe others know better sources. I've never tried more than 5mg at a time so don't know that effect either, I've just felt and heard that there's no problem taking small amounts daily but too much can be bad for you.
#2488
Posted 11 April 2014 - 04:33 PM
What I meant is that I believe you are just absorbing it through the normal route in the stomach, intestines and not sublingually. Isn't molecule size a factor in that, or something? Not really sure.
#2489
Posted 11 April 2014 - 04:51 PM
Oh I don't really know about that since I don't know as much science as the other people here. I just know I feel the effects more of noots sublingually. Molecule-size or not keep something in your mouth for a period of time it will be into your blood stream, thats why bad dental problems can cause a host of other problems. I am also wondering about that since I have amalgam fillings. But yeah its like if anyone took oxytocin, sublingually or nasally seems the only way to bypass the stomach and get it into your brain. But I am sure people can experiment with the noot the most effective way to administer it.

For information as I have begun the stack, I've lost 3 n at dual-n-back from 7 to 4... I'm a lot depressed (could it be TAU or Huperzine A but I just took 1 dose) and I have stopped fish oïl which was making me like a stupid ghost, wasn't able to speak. You have really strange brain to like taking those weird stuff or it's just me But seriously I'm mad.
Yeah for info I'm also taking Lion's mane. What great stack... I was wondering why no nobel was Under "a stack" it's just that it's stupid stuff for making stupid people think that they will become smarter. I'm really sad because I have some serious exam and can't understand what I read Oh yeah nota bene number 2, yeah as I forget a lot, I'm also taking phosphatidylserine. It sounds like a so pure "stack" yeah yeah
PS3: Sorry if I sound rude. The be honest Uridine seems to have a general positif effect on me though... Maybe it's a placebo
