Seems like it might have potential if you can get such a drug to the brain effectively, though I don't know if strengthening of synaptic connections will be a good thing or hinder neuroplasticity. Could someone more knowledgeable comment on this?

Interestingly, histones can protect DNA from iron-mediated damage (oxidation?). The drug they tested in the first article article unwinds DNA from the histones to upregulate transcription, which might expose the DNA to premature damage (just a thought).

I could imagine a romantic scenario for a thriller, where one must choose between a long life by not taking this drug, or a short yet brilliant life through enhanced cognition and accelerated aging. These are all just fun ideas I'm tossing around though :P

I still can't figure out how he managed to do that. He was having it made but was able to perfect it and get the negative side effects out and one day he stopped using it but kept the enhancements.
