You can't get 100% raw whey. Mine on upgradedself.com comes from grass fed cows, and we start with raw milk, which goes straight to the whey processor, rather than to a cheese plant. The milk is not pasteurized the way it is in milk production for cheese, but it is heated enough during the whey creation process that it is not strictly "raw". It has the most intact peptides I could figure out how to get into a whey product, which is why I made it that way! :)

UPDATE: Haven't gotten my labs yet (hdl/ldl etc.) but my systolic blood pressure reading jumped up like 15-20pts (not percent) and RHR by roughly 6 bpms ever since I've been inducted into nutritional ketosis (6-8 weeks) and been drinking sea salt. First, I am thinking, in view of all anecdotal evidence, how in the bloody hell is this possible considering I lost 10lbs of essentially fat.

Then I realize that I've been chugging sea salt -- in fear of dehydration from ketosis more so than by Dave's suggestions here. In fact, this should be in no way misconstrued that I am trying to blame anyone. What I am trying to do is figure out whether 1) I am warranted in attributing the increase in blood pressure/rhr to sea salt (2-4g day) or 2)the presumably high levels of cholesterol that I may soon receive in the mail., or maybe, 3) that the sea salt I was drinking was shit quality or 4) the keto components of my diet are inferior.

The reason I am thinking sea salt is b/c I just cannot fathom that losing 10lbs of glucose-collected fat, feeling great mentally and physically, despite being largely sedentary for the exam period, would lead to high cholesterol levels. Unless I have major visceral fat, it's just inconceivable to me that at 6-7% body fat I would have high LDL which would motivate high blood pressure reading. Is it the salt?

I will update on blood results later.

UPDATE: continued drinking salt last couple weeks

Blood pressure daily average readings via Omron Series 7:

115/75 on waking but after drinking 2g of himalayan pink salt
121/82 immediately after eating like 500 calories worth of butter/c oil/milk/chocolate/caffeine. Pulse average went up by a few bpms but that's expected on some caffeine.

Overall, I am pretty confident whatever malaise I had was not due to high blood pressure and the latter is prob not due to drinking salt. Also taking blood pressure readings at the doctor's office is hardly informative, if not misleading. #quantifiedself

P.S. I am still not sure why Peter Attia argues, or rather makes an assertion, that people's blood pressure falls when they start ketosis/bp/lchf because they remove sodium from their diet. Is it the sodium alone or the sodium plus whatever shit food it comes in?

Very interesting thread.

Given the fact that Dave Asprey launched a very good book in december 2014 and maybe too busy now to stroll here, he and tim ferriss are probably the 2 people that inspired me to change my life and move towards a better and upgraded me, both mentally & physically.

If it was not for their coming out of the closet in some way on national exposure thru the medias, i would have never heard about nootropics, paleo, abelard lindsay, steve fowkes or any diet/productivity hack whatsoever and consequently, i would have never heard of longecity.org.

I now plan to follow the bulleproof diet probably until my last breath because it makes sense to a newbie like me, alongside cold exposure (jack kruse style) and intermittent fasting.

Keep up the good work.

Not sure if Dave Asprey has re-started measuring his vitals and aging biomarkers, but if you have the money, it is a good thing to do. Upgrading yourself is great, just be sure experimental-type changes in diet/supplements are not doing more harm than good.

I do actively search for presentations or video-discussions with Dave Asprey, Abel James and Tim Ferris. And I am reading the Bulletproof Diet. Ok, they clearly have a big ego but as long as their intentions are genuine and their science is good, I don't mind that. And I guess everyone deserves to earn a living. I first heard of Dave Asprey when I got this craze of getting Modafinil in 2013 but there was no way my doctor would accept to write a prescription for that. She stated that modafinil would increase my blood pressure and is overall dangerous. Instead she gave me a product called Arcalion (a b vitamin variant which should be a stimulant). Obviously, a far cry.

Anyway, nowadays I am more into supplements that relax me than to enhance my cognitive abilities.

What I would like to ask (related to a video-chat between Abel James and Dr. Perlmutter) is this. I have been eating an egg or two a day (boiled) for 1 year now and my LDL-C went up to the highest in 5 years. Should I be worried? I am slowly shifting towards eating more Kerry Gold which seems to give me a lot of energy for physical training, would this be recommended? Is the science behind "saturated fat is good for you" conclusive? Lately I have cut off caffeine from my diet and my physical performance improved significantly. Maybe I had adrenal fatigue.

For ref purposes (mg/dl):

Trig: 79.72

LDLC: 111.76

HDL: 32.48
