I've purchased 98% from Genscript and was happy with the product (although I no longer experiment with it). Genscript was reccomended by some friends who work at a somewhat prestigious lab - so just my take. Pretty much anyone can order from Genscript and generally the price comes down quite a bit as referenced elsewhere in this thread. If you are willing to spend a few hundred dollars you can get a good price. Otherwise the group buy might make sense.

Someone should probably just buy a peptide synthesizer e.g.
http://compare.ebay....mTypes&var=sbar

Maybe I'll look into it...

This is all very confusing. Genscript was one of the labs that many of us first started looking at when I opened this thread and from the last reports their price for 98% was about $25,000 if you buy 100 grams. Everyone here is well aware of Genscript and they have no bones about selling to just about anyone as long as you "sign up". If you were able to negotiate this, really low, rate from them then why didn't you just say so so everyone, anyone else could take advantage of it or join you in a buy? Why all the secrecy, then bashing me because I just suggested that you have it tested (because you would not divulge the source) and then next going after Dreamer because he did?
This really did not need to devolve into this at all. Just be upfront and straight from the beginning.
How about we let all this go, please proceed with your group buy and let us all know the results. I am glad to know now who the source is.

I would also like to sign up for a purchase. I'm also in the U. S. Thank you, and thank you for taking the initiative in making these arrangements.

To all those interested in buying some AGAG for their personal use, you might want to wait a bit before committing to the ongoing saga of the current group buy.

I am in discussion with GS with regards to setting up arrangements for Longecity members to buy direct from them in smaller quantities for a direct relationship for payment and shipping, no middlemen and no risks as a result. You would be able to order directly from the producer and receive it directly from the producer.

I should have the information by end of day today and will post here for those interested.

Thanks BobSeitz! Thank god apparently the truth behing this mess is still appearent for people with common sense! But this thread is now looking really ugly, and until some mods clean it up (if they ever see fit), this does not look like a right place to conduct clean and cold-headed operations anymore... Until the situation looks better, could you please send me your email via PM?
I'll still update the situation here. So now the list looks like this

Myself - FR
Logic - ZA
Chrisip - US
Zen - US
Tintinet - US (6th but if willing to take care of logistics will have priority even if the group buy is limited to 5ppl)
Poonja - ?
PWAIN - AUS
BobSeitz - US

Total so far : 8 people. Those on this list that are still "in", please mention it here and send me a PM with your email adress. Those that have been turned off by the negative campain, it'd be cool if you said so as well. Thanks.

I have received a reply from GenScript with prices for a couple different quantities and the specifications including purity. I have also had additional phone conversations with them to clarify some discrepancies and areas of concern.

They will not be able to get back to me with answers until tomorrow since they are on the East Coast and it's about time to go home.

If any of you decide to proceed with the group order presently being put together, I HIGHLY recommend that you be provided with a copy of the written quote from GS and check the sequence, purity as well as packaging, order size and price delivered. There does seem to be some confusion in the communication of specifications.

I will post more when I receive the information, hopefully tomorrow.

Dreamer proposed to take care of the logistics but for obvious reasons it'd be more reasonable to have a long time member such as tintinet to be trusted with this (since it implies collecting the money, getting the bulk order and then dispatching it)

:)
This is where the proverbial turd hit the fan!
I see both points of view and how anybody would be very insulted at what looks at first to imply that they are a known crook.
At this point emotions take over and then its simply impossible to for the insulted party to see that what was actually meant is that: While we are thankful for your gracious offer, we might all feel more comfortable with a better known member handling the buy if someone else is willing?
Sadly we have all been taken for a ride by a crook at some point and that makes us all somewhat untrusting.
A long term member is the only peace of mind we have in this case, as you will understand if you contemplate sending your hard won money to someone you don't otherwise know.

Well the good that came out of this is that we now know who the supplier is and that the product is legit.
We also know that Tintinet has been very quiet through all this. Hopefully because he does not want to get involved in the argument, although I see other possible reasons?

We also know that the supplier may be interested in a.... group order, rather than a group buy, if there are enough people committed to buying to make it worth making a batch.

I am still keen either way, at the price.

Your observations are almost accurate, Logic.

I would only add that my offer to assist in the logistics was via PM and if daouda had replied to me via PM that, for whatever reasons, he was going to use Tintinet for that task, I would have had absolutely no problem in any way shape or form.

However, he chose to reject my offer publicly on the board for the reason of trustworthiness. He broke the privacy of our PM exchange and implied that I might not be as trustworthy as Tintinet or someone else. That offended me.

It didn't stop there.

That's about all I have to say on this issue.

Proof that no matter how old you get (or don't get) high school and childish bickering will follow closely behind.

If you’re involved in a group buy please do ensure you have a solid base of facts before you part ways with your money (unless you have cash to throw away in which case I have a bridge you might like to buy).

Other than that regardless of how offended you might be taking it personally and taking revenge is childish and inappropriate. If you’ve made it clear that you’re angry and you comment towards that end you have to know how that is going to appear and you should realize what your intent is behind those remarks.

I’ve left Logic’s post and Dreamers response to that post visible. Let’s end this silly game here, now and allow the group purchase to go through. These people are responsible for their own money and there’s no need to Superman your way to a saved day.

I’ll probably go up and clean up some more silliness above if there is still some visible.

Thanks for being adults guys (or at least trying).

...
Dreamer, to answer your question : both zen and yourself have contacted me via PM to manifest your "membership" in this group buy. When writing post 445 I had forgotten about zen's PM, but he did send his 2 days before you had sent yours (PMs are dated as you all know). Poonja contacted me by PM only as well, but after you.
This is the reason why, in post no 447, I wrote

I have send a PM to Daouda on June 2nd, 2013 at 11:22 PM. I did not realize that I should also post here - I am sorry for any confusion this might have caused.

There does seem to be some confusion in the communication of specifications.

All informations about the specifications have been clearly given by me in my very first post about the group buy, on the previous page.
In case some people have missed it, here it is again :

I asked a reputable company for a quote for 5g of >98% AGAG aliquoted to 50 tubes (so that's 100mg per tube which seems the most convenient)
With a nice discount the final quote (not including shipping) is 1030euros (1338.7 usd) : This is 20.6 euros (that's USD 26.77) per 100mg!
(this is less than 54 usd for 200mg, compare to bioluma 700 usd for 200mg! Almost 13 times the price! - clearly a shameless ripoff)
I will have to confirm this price as they offered me a 20%+ discount for a quote that included other peptides as well (however the reason they gave for the discount was that it'd be my first order, and then I took some time before responding to their offer so they raised the discount again), but the discount-less price is 1320.27 eur.
.
With 10 participants getting 500mg each, this would be 103 eur (usd 133.87) per person (+shipping charges) (166 days supply at 3mg / day)
5 participants getting 1g each, 206 eur (usd 267.74) per person (+shipping charges) (333 days supply at 3mg / day)

For various reasons (the fact that a larger qtty of AGAG will make for a better quality of research, and in order to make logistics easier to deal with), we have - for the moment - apparently decided on a 5 ppl group buy for 1g each. But this isnt written in stone, and in case the person taking charge of logistics is OK with it, we could make a bigger order for more people (and hopefully get a better price per gram in the process?).

Also, those whom have expressed interest in purchasing lower qtties (like Andey's 2*100mg) can maybe try their luck getting it from one of the group buy members once they've gotten their share.

Any good reason not to just go with the number of users x 1g so if 8 people are interested, buy 8 grams, if 7 people, get 7 grams. Also I am willing to take an addition part gram to help those who can't afford a whole gram. So for eg if 3 people can only afford 200mg each, then I will buy the remaining 400mg taking my order to 1.4 grams. That will allow the order to be in whole grams. Don't really need more than a gram but if it will help out, I will do it. Want to thank ALL those who are organising this or have been involved in the past.

No definite reason not to, we just started with a 5g proposal, like I said we could probably ugrade the order to a higher qtty HOWEVER it depends on the willingness of the US-based "logistics officer" to take care of dispatching more packages to international destinations which can be somwhat of a hassle and thus a turn-off (I wont be that person so in order not to make this position a nightmare and make this group buy happen, I can't say 'who wants to take charge of sending 4 packages' then saying 'you know what finally it'll be 7")

So there is 9 there and chrisip indicated that he might take 2 grams or if not, I could do the second gram shared with those that could not afford a full gram. All up were already at 10 grams. If it is a real pain to reship, then maybe a $10 or $20 dollar handling fee to the person doing all the work.

I am in discussions today with GenScript to finalize the details of individual purchases of the AGAG peptide in quantities of 1 gram/order in 100 mg vials with the option of smaller size vials, perhaps smaller size total order, all handled directly between person ordering and GS. This assures accountability and provides recourse for any problems that may arise, and eliminates duplicate shipping and handling costs and efforts.

If you are interested in participating, please PM me with your email address and amount you are interested in buying from GS. No commitment is required at this time. I will provide updated information to those interested via email as I receive it from GS. I hope to have things worked out today, but it may take an extra day or so, depending on responses from GS.

I will not be receiving any compensation from anyone on any of these orders, nor will I even be involved outside of the coordination effort to the extent required to facilitate things.

It'd be nice to know the actual price per gram that is offered, to compare it with the group buy option that I'm proposing. You sure were very loud about your abbhorration of secrecy earlier in this thread.
Using your own words, "There does seem to be some confusion in the communication of specifications."

A group buy is a great way for people of good will to collaborate and pool their funds in other to benefit from bulk pricing which woudlnt be possible as individuals. The dupilicte shipping and handling costs are no big deal when dealing witha limited number of people. It has been done here already and is currently being done again with NSI-189. Everything is going just fine.

Furthermore, a group buy enables ppl from outside the US to benefit, as a fedex package directly from genscript has great chances to attract customs attention, and be taxed heavily or even blocked, when a discreet package sent by a US individual via slow USPS has great chances to slip right through customs.

The group buy is a win/win/win option. It's quite sad that some people want really hard for it to fail.

Sorry for the delayed response. Work has been very busy for me this week, and I haven't had much time for other activities.

I haven't organized an international research chemical group buy previously, but I'd be willing to give it a try, if it will benefit the group.

Guys u r both offering great solutions to the board !!!

naturally dealing directly w the manufacturer is perfect...IF the prices offered r within range of the group buy

having in place a "group buy" structure/facility ...in general ..is also great for times minimum orders make this route cost prohibitive n as daouda says "cross border issues...which let me remind u works both ways in this regulatory environment

what else could we do if dreamer didn't come up w his contact

guys this is not n ego contest as to who's method is better...they both have their applications...each is valuable...just different

I don't know who threw the 1st punch or maybe too offense in imprecise communication...but its like seeing 2 friends fighting unecessarily

Thx Tintinet for accepting to do the group buy.
We have not heard back from Dreamer yet on whether 'the supplier' is amenable to a 'group order'.
If they are and the price is similar we may be able to save Tintinet some time and effort by having the US buyers get their AGAG directly leaving only the participants outside the US with customs concerns to be processed.
A combination of both Daouda's and Dreamer's initiatives. that would suite everyone.

Any news Dreamer?

Here is what I have from GenScript so far.

A group order, placed directly with Genscript by each individual buyer through the group, paid for directly to GenScript and shipped directly to the individual buyer by GenScript will be as follows:

5 grams total group order – Cost will be $1,350 or $270 per gram plus shipping
100 mg per tube/vial, screw top
Peptide sequence: AEDG = {ALA}-{GLU}-{ASP}-{GLY}
>98% purity
China is the Country of origin
Produced by GenScript

Items still under discussion and negotiations:

Lower cost for larger group order
1/2 gram minimum order size in group orders
Packaging in 50 mg tube/vial
Type of vial
Possibility of a dropper top
How re-orders are to be handled, group, individuals, minimum order size etc.

As this is Friday late, I won’t have any more information until Monday at the earliest.

They want a list of the buyers and addresses, at least city, state and zip along with individual order size to confirm the shipping arrangements and total costs for each individual buyer.

I will need the names (at least the first name for now) and city, state and zip as well as order size to send them to finalize the shipping arrangements and costs.

So those of you that want to join in on a group order, I need you to provide to me via PM, your name (at least first name for now), city, state and zip or City, Country and code; and size of order, preferably by Monday morning, June 10.

Be sure to include your email address as I will be communicating with the group via email, not on the board and will not be listing the names of those who wish to join in this group/individual buy.

After Dreamer's update on the group order this is also what I've come to think.

The "group order" price is pretty much the same as what I'd negociated for the group buy.
So the best solution clearly would be :
- Each US member orders directly his share from gencript via Dreamer's deal
- Exception being for tintinet that will also be ordering the shares of the international participants (unless you're confident enough that a large FedEx package from a company such as GenScript and with an advertised content of an exotic white powder will slip through your customs unnoticed).

So that's one group order, with a group buy within it!

For the group buy things are pretty much the same coordination-wise
We need the exact number of people that tintinet will have to order for
And setup a payitsquare page for tintinet to collect the money

Actually since Dreamer gave a pretty tight deadline we (actually tintinet) should setup a payitsquare page right now, and then he should order for the people that will actually have paid by june 10th (that's in 2 days!)
I hope tintinet isn't too busy right now because this would have to be done very soon.
I'll try and email him about this hoping he would react fast enough
