Did you try Lysine ? Sorry, I didn't go through all 13 pages to find the answer. Lysine really helped where no other substance did.
Are you able to elaborate on this a bit? What did Lysine help exactly?
For anxiety like others mentioned. It kicks in after a week or two at 3 grams a day. It's also very important for protein synthesis and preventing muscle catabolism. Unless it was medically necessary to fight an infection, DON'T take cipro man. That's one nasty drug that'll keep kicking long after you've forgotten about it.
Anxiety is not so hard to tackle. Use magnesium, taurine, P5P, Lysine, oral Gaba, etc. Heck, drink some chamomile tea and add a couple grams of glycine before bed. Don't do anything risky and out of the ordinary. It's simply not necessary. I've taken 1.2 grams magnesium to combat amphetamine withdrawals with absolutely no side effects minus a fast, fast, fast recovery from the dependence. Magnesium all the way..

I have often wondered the same about sarcosine, but I've always cycled it anyway. Sarcosine has been awesome for my own OCD symptons.

Not actually an Anxiety question so much as I'm trying to start a 'nootropic stack' to improve concentration diring the stress of exams, and after reading your post I'll try to avoid those that act on GABA and include a couple that help 'anxiety' because I figure they can't hurt an effort to fight exam stress.
My initial list was:
- Piracetam
- CDPCholine
- Either sulbutiamine or pyritinol
- Picamilon
- Aniracetam
- Lion's Mane
- PhosphatidylSerine
- Brahmi
- Stabilium (in substitute of regular fish oil)
Derived from: http://www.longecity...-to-nootropics/
After reading your post it's clear the Picamilion will have to go (I'm guessing I'll just increase the dose of Pyritinol to get the B vitamin synergistic benefits).
Do any of the others in my proposed list have the GABA complications referred to in your initial post?
Thanks in advance!
Best,
Elf

this is all my fault, I should have listened to you guys and I didn't, what a fool
my life is now permanently ruined
i went to see the doctor on monday, I told him about my case and he would put me on another benzo, I refused that and told him that cipro can antagonize gaba and upregulate receptors so why not try it. he said that he didn't know about that use of cipro but knowing the medication is safe then he would give me a prescription for it.
got my cipro and started to use it on tuesday, took two 500mg pills lin the morning
later in the day my heart started pounding like hell, I thought that was going to subside so I took another 500mg on the evening
and then...... I don't know, I just have no idea what happened between tuesday and today, I was laying on the couch when I kind of woke up.
I don't know what happened I have a total blackout, did I sleep? the last thing I remember is the beginning of the colbert report on tv
but this is an horror as the massive heart pounding still continues, it's been 1 hour I'm up and it's still there, I think it didn't stop from tuesday to friday
please help this is totally my fault and I acknowledge it, I shouldn't have try that, is that damage permanent? please tell me it's not
it's so loud I can hear it without focusing on it, my heart rate is still the same around 115bpm
aside from that I don't feel any other side effects, my tendons are fine, the rest seem fine, it's ok but this heart make it stop!
I will wait for the day to pass and see how it goes, I'm scared to take another pill of cipro, it might make it worse or give me that blackout again

I think you're already aware of the next steps:
Stop taking cipro.
Head to a different doctor.
You'll be okay.
Also, see if you can regain control of your heartbeat by lying down and concentrating on your breathing.
Blackouts and increased heart rate are some of the many known side-effects. There is/was a class-action lawsuit, as I understand.

Note: Considering that you took 1000mg in the morning, and that the highest dosage recommended is 750mg for SEVERE infections, you may have very well caused lasting damage to your body. It is possible that you will experience tendon problems, digestive issues, stomach pains, depersonalization, memory loss, depression etc, as a result of this. I have no idea what compelled you not only to take this medication but OVERDOSE on it?
If your doctor actually prescribed you 1500mg of daily cipro (Considered an overdose, and these amounts cause permanent damage), his license needs to be revoked. Taking it for no legitimate medical reason can lead to proliferation of treatment resistant diseases. This is nothing to play around with.
If you consider the results of ingesting toluene and an overdose of ciprofloxacin, it is possible that you have induced some amount of brain or other organ damage. You should get a blood workup to make sure you are OK.
Ciprofloxacin brain damage does not have to be immediate. It might set in fully after a few weeks or longer. My friend has practically lost all his emotions as a result of ciprofloxacin, but only after a few weeks of feeling perfectly happy. He says its the worst thing that ever happened to him. While he hasn't been able to walk for months after Cipro, the neurological effects appear far worse. Now he has recovered his ability to walk and run, but his mental state has not improved.
Seek a new doctor and STOP anything you are taking, stop experimenting, stop 'nootropic' stacking and dedicate yourself to a healthy diet and exercise.

I don't understand, why would the doc tell me it's safe when it's not? Isn't that his job? Many people who take cipro experience permanent or very long lasting (10+ years) damage, but it is possible that you stopped in time. Your doctor should have his license revoked, Cipro is not 'safe medication'. Its method of action can worsen benzo withdrawal and anxiety significantly.
Note: Considering that you took 1000mg in the morning, and that the highest dosage recommended is 750mg for SEVERE infections, you may have very well caused lasting damage to your body. I called him on the afternoon telling him my symptoms and how I feel after taking cipro, he was kinda surprised as he told me that this couldn't be cipro, he was pretty sure that cipro wasn't the culprit. I told him about the heart pounding, he could even hear it over the phone, well according to him it's not cipro but just stress. he told me to keep on taking cipro and that even if cipro did that it will resolve in one week max after treatment.
I don't know what to think, the doc says cipro is very safe and people on the internet tell me it's the most evil medication man has created.
I tried laying down and it's still ongoing, it hasn't subsided at all! What should I try? betablockers?
here's my hr report : 108bpm, diastolic 101mmHG, systolic 152mmHG
diastolic is abnormally high, it should be around 85mmHG, systolic is around 120mmHG ideally and my BPM is still around the same as asual
Are you serious hooter? Like I can have my heart beat loudly for over 10 years? I won't make it, I will probably have an heart attack by then.
I was prescribed 2 weeks of 1500mg cipro a day 2 in the morning one in the evening, I don't have increased anxiety, even though I have always anxiety so probably I couldn't notice the increase.
I have no issues with tendons, I feel rather fine on that side, the manual says tendon damage can only occur if your over 65 which is hardly my case lol
however the damage I have now is heart beating very loudly, skipped beats, upset stomach and maybe some pns damage (I feel inner thorax pain)
what scares me most is my heart, is it going to resolve during the week? I'm gonna wait until monday if this isn't resolving I will go to ER, this is freaking me out.
so tendon damage can be recovered afterall? apart from that, I don't feel brain damage coming, I still have my emotions I think, what do you mean losing emotions? like you can't laugh anymore or feel happy?
I can't exercise at all, my heart is screwed up, if I force myself I will likely faint and go to the emergency, as for the healthy diet well apart from the drive-thru I have no other option.

Your doctor.. is a moron. Don't worry, there are plenty of them still around, like other doctors I know that still prescribe yas and yasmin for birth control, despite the class action lawsuits and many 18 year old girls having their gallbladders removed.
Stop. Go see another doctor. Get better.

now I'm pretty sure it was cipro that caused blackout, I didn't take alcohol that night.
but what happened? could have I been totally awake during the blackout? I was lying on my couch and when I woke up I was still in the same exact place, I probably didn't move or did I?
But the worst thing, is the insomnia I have now, it's nearly 6am and I haven't closed my eyes, I usually feel sleepy and go to bed at midnight to wake up at around 3am but now this didn't happen, I feel more wide awake than ever.
could that be the cipro too? I thought I couldn't be more hyper than I was, I was wrong, it's much worse now!
this is really scary, total insomnia and heart pounding 24/7 there's something wrong with me, is cipro messing up with hormones and causing me that?

While he hasn't been able to walk for months after Cipro, the neurological effects appear far worse. Now he has recovered his ability to walk and run, but his mental state has not improved.
Seek a new doctor and STOP anything you are taking, stop experimenting, stop 'nootropic' stacking and dedicate yourself to a healthy diet and exercise.

Well, you know what you don't want. Discuss that with your next doctor and if they can't work with you, find another one.
Once the heartrate returns to normal, I'd be talking to a neurologist, however, to set your expectations, you usually have to wait to see one and I'd still shop around as some of them can be antisocial or really old-school / rigid. You'll know when you find the right one.
In the meantime, I would stop everything else, find some magnesium (preferrably malate form) and take 500mg + 250mg of vitamin C every 3-4 hours. Drink a lot of water. No caffeine, stimulants.
Go put that elevated heart rate to use and get some cardio exercise, even if it's just going for a run around your neighbourhood. Tire yourself out.
Hopefully things will calm down and then, most importantly, you will be able to sleep.
The elevated heart rate will be adding to your anxiety at the moment, so keep in mind that you're not that stressed, you're drugged and haven't slept.
You'll be okay.

Stop taking it if you have heart symptoms. In fact here is what the drug guide says about it:
Stop using Cipro and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
- severe dizziness, fainting, fast or pounding heartbeats;
As Mr.Happy said 300mg Magnesium and 500mg + 250mg of vitamin C every 3-4 hours is a very good idea.

11) PIRACETAM (at 9.8 - 24g total daily dosage)

Effects should become effective after a few days, but sometimes it takes up to a month. They will peak (reach their highest point) around a month or two after beginning treatment. Anxiolytic (anti anxiety) effects appear in higher doses (such as 20 to 24g daily dosage). I suggest dissolving it in grape juice, because this will neutralize the taste.
I've taken this for 1+ year and it has been very helpful.

20 g per day should be very expensive. How much?
You can buy powder in bulk: 50 to 90 dollars for 1 kg
That's enough for 40 to 50 days. 1.8 dollars per day

But i can't longer take Piracetam ,not every very tiny dose ,it give me very bad reaction right now ,i think NMDA receptor now at peak level because of i prone to glutamate toxicity from food now .11) PIRACETAM (at 9.8 - 24g total daily dosage)

Anything effect similar to Piracetam ,in increase confident and creativity ,or how to restore Piracetam effect ,or we no longer take Piracetam that long ?,
your time seem not long enough 1yrs + .
TREATING ANXIETY SAFELY & EFFECTIVELY ,
is it mean permanent up-regulate gaba receptor to avoid nmda receptor glutamate toxicity prone ? or also something else can produce anxiety not just glutamate?
if Piracetam bring NMDA receptor to normal healthy level ,i think no gaba need ,or i might have so few gaba receptor to balance normal healty level of NMDA receptor.

Cipro brain damage can be delayed and can surface weeks later, with no prior symptoms. My friend was ok for a month or two after cipro, then suddenly dissociated and depressed. He didn't take anything else.
Stop taking it if you have heart symptoms. In fact here is what the drug guide says about it:Stop using Cipro and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

I am devastated I don't know what to do!! Do I go to ER right now?
I haven't slept for days, not a second of sleep! cipro has made me woerse than ever, I could hardly sleep before now I can't even sleep, I am starting to have alzheimers symptoms, I think slowly I can't remember anything for a long time!! I have total neurodegenration, when I want out to walmart I took hours to find my own house, what do I do now? go to ER or what?
will they help me or be useless, lack of sleep is destroyed my brain if this continues I will be literally braindead in a matter of days.
help is this cipro or lack of sleep???

edit: it's also antihistaminic, but anyway, it's bad for memory and so on, I know because I have abused it, it's really a bad choice for someone like nootropic_addict.

Is noopept a good anxyliotic? I need for public speaking situations
Noopept is not so good as a stand alone product, try aniracetam or stack both. (1.6 grams ani 3x10mg noopept) Wait 30 minutes then go public speak your butt off. Or try PEA 3 grams for an intense hypermanic high. No nervousness and just excitement instead of the usual anxiety. You will be cool, calm, collected focused and able to public speak very efficiently for 40-60 minutes.
Where are you public speaking and on what topic?
Let us know how you go, best of luck.
Namaste,
Kaga

Great Thread. Mostly.
I have a just started taking Afobazole, 4 days in. I like it and find it to be quite effective already.
Does anyone know if it is safe or has anyone tried taking phenibut with afobazole? I like to take Phenibut occasionally recreationally and for certain social situations.
Also anyone take bacopa and afobazole together? Was thinking of adding that in too.
