Why not just go with L-Glutamine? Doesn't the body convert it the same as Glutamic Acid?

L-Glutamine is a worthless supplement. I tried taking it for months with no effect whatsoever.
A small dose of glutamic acid on the other hand, is noticeable, and not toxic at all.

Quite a strong statement and wrong. L-Glutamine works great in my piracetam stack and I have tried Glutamic acid, MSG, etc I have been taking this consistent (piracetam) stack for 3+ years and the effects are as good as they ever were:

8:30am and 3:30pm

piracteam 800mg
L-Glutamine 1000mg
ALCAR 250mg
Phosphatidylserine 200 mg (only in the am)
Magnesium Citrate 200mg

Everyone is different. Please don't totally dismiss a supplement just because you didn't respond to it.

Fine, let me rephrase. L-Glutamine was a worthless supplement to me. I tried taking it for months with no susceptible gain whatsoever.
Considering you take quite a lot with your piracetam, have you tried dropping the glutamine alone and noticed anything off?
If you do believe it works for you, it isn't all that expensive so good for you. Maybe it is synergystic with the rest of your stack. Maybe you lack it in your diet?
It's just that I, and health_nutty too apparently, found it rather useless. As with anything on the forum, take that as you wish, strong statement or not.

Yes, I did try dropping it a few times when I was first experimenting with piracetam dosages and adjuncts. I tried varying dosages of L-Glutamine, Pyroglutamic acid, Glutamic Acid and MSG, along with swapping a bunch of other supplements in and out. I finally settled on the stack above because it kept the piracetam effects going, while minimizing any negative effects (primarily brain fog and irritability). I do think proper dosing of piracetam is a balancing act on the glutamatergic pathways. What I found to provide that balance is this stack that includes L-Glutamine. You may be finding that balance with a different stack or have a different brain chemistry, but I like the fact that I'm not ingesting MSG or glutamic acid due to the concerns about toxicity.

Phosphatidylserine 200 mg (only in the am)

How come you only take it in the morning? I take it in the evening. My logic is that it'll help suppress cortisol levels which will provide more restful sleep.

I double-checked and I actually take 400mg in the morning. Before I bought these pills, I had the 200mg size, which I took in the morning and early afternoon. I was thinking that they had some synergy with the piracetam so I try to take it with that. I may try to take PS at night as an experiment, but I do sleep pretty well already.

When you take piracetam alone, do you get any type of headaches?

I remember the negative symptoms when taking piracetam were headaches, aggitation/agression and brain fog. Once I loaded up with choline (like an attack dose) the headaches went away. Then, it was basically evening out the glutamiergic balance to avoid the other two negatives. I think the adjuncts I take do a good job in keeping that balance.

Anyone know where I can buy glutamic acid? I tried looking for it but all I can find is the Solgar brand, which is 500 mg per capsule. I think this is too high? I need a shop which can do international shipping.

I've been getting sleep problem, irritability and anxiety after couple months on piracetam and aniracetam. I've tried l-glutamine before, and it made my anxiety and irritability worse.
