"...research found PGD2 prevents hair growth, and mice that were genetically inclined to produce higher levels of PGD2 had inhibited hair growth. The research also found PGD2 levels were much higher in balding scalp tissue than nonbalding scalp tissue. The paper suggested one of the receptors involved in production of PGD2, GPR44, would therefore be a therapeutic targets for androgenic alopecia in both men and women with hair loss and thinning..."

"...aspirin reduced only PGD2 by 86%..."

Am I being an idiot or should I be dissolving a couple of aspirin in my shampoo right now!? :)
Could it be this simple??

The good old oral route?
Dosage?

Aspirin stops prostaglan formation by inhibiting COX. I doubt dissolving it in shampoo would would have as strong an effect. Does anyone know peppermint oil contains salicylates? That could explain why it has some positive effect on hair growth when rubbed into the scalp.

Thx for the info 1kgcoffee.

Wiki says Salicylic acidcan "...be prepared by the hydrolysis of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid)..."
http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Salicylate
So perhaps adding some to shampoo is worth a try?

What could aid apsorption?

The 2nd link talks about a 'human dose' of 375mg.
http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/18223672
Thats a high pain killer dosage. I wonder if 80-81mg has any effect?

Sigh... I thought I was onto something new, but no:

'Wipes egg off face again' :)

Still; mixing some aspirin into my shampoo is a lot cheaper.
