Only downside was the morning after. The increased anxiety, nausea, palpitations and alcohol withdrawal was not a good mix. I was glued to the toilet being sick for 4 hours! My throat was torn to shreds!

I've been using NSI189(base-30mg) for the past 3 weeks along with mirtazapine (22mg) at night for depression, I have noticed a slight synergy between the two in terms of mood elevation and I'm starting to feel alot more normal in terms of drives and motivation as I'm finding work more enjoyable and I find myself taking on alot more responsibility, frequent dreams I usually have from the mirtazapine alone are now alot more vivid and complex with actually story-lines instead of the usual fragmented garbage.
I've rekindled my love of running the past week and it has potentiated the effects of both anti-depressants tremendously!
I feel alot better now than I did a month ago, I am by no means depression free but I am getting better with each new day.
Cerebrolysin (5x10ml) arrives tomorrow, I'm unsure about about trialing it in-case there is a unknown contraindication with either the mirt or nsi...I worry it might be overload

Out of curiousity has anyone else experienced any form of hairloss/thinning? I noticed a small patch while scratching my head yesterday thats quite smooth and seems to be very thin compared to my normal head of hair. Only 25 and it doesn't run in the family at all.

You mean NSI-189 affects hair-health? How long have you taken it?

I'm not 100% on it, I was just curious if anyone else had issues. On my longest trial of 40mg BID at the moment, if its happening to others that are on the trial then we can narrow it down a little bit more

Does anyone know by chance whether Scienceguy's original group buy purchase of NSI was freebase, or phosphate? I still have his batch from the initial group buy...and that actually also makes me curious about how much it degrades, seeing as it's now a year ish old.

As I posted earlier, for anyone suffering from anxiety you can take ashwagandha and get rid of it. Take some in the morning with your nsi and you will feel great throughout the day. I use planetary herbals.
I have a vague theory that NSI increases cortisol somehow and Ashwagandha takes care of that.

Phosphate I'm pretty sure. My batch is over a year old but still works with no noticeable loss of potency.

Awesome, I'm going to give this a try instead of the Noopept with NSI which also helps. I already take Ashwa at night - just a tiny bit worried about gaba receptor downregulation / dependence. Have you encountered any tolerance issues with day and nightly dosing?

pretty sure you want to have more cortisol, not less. less cortisol = anxiety and inflammation, more cortisol = feeling good (though with some negatives on body fat, appetite, etc)

This is not correct, it all depends with how much cortisol you "start with". Its quite possible to have high cortisol and be anxious from it.
Also it depends in the amount of time you have elevated cortisol, its different short term and long-term.

I only take it when i take NSI which is in the morning, No noticeable loss of potency yet, although it's only been around 2 weeks since I started taking both together. Ashwagandha had lost its effect on me, but since I started taking it with NSI I get a clear energy throughout the day.
I'm not too sure about tolerance/withdrawl sorry.
I would like to hear how you get on with taking NSI with Ashwa though - I hope it helps you.

Took NSI (VLKs batch) after a long break and it increased my depressions.
Could it be that NSI increases Inflammation an/or other Stress Hormones than cortisol ?
Edit:
You would help me a lot with understanding the cause of my "special" depression and therefore help to find perhaps a treatment.
Thanks

Hello consumers of NSI-189 and everyone else. I've been interested in taking NSI-189 for a very long time now. I finally got around to doing so, but I must say ... when it comes to taking powder like these, it's really really hard for me to do so. Getting all the powder off the bag and a lot of it actually go to waste when I try to weigh it out and all. I was wondering if anyone had any specific method in how to weigh small amounts of powder without getting an excess amount go to waste. Since the doses are as little as something like 20-40mg, I noticed that I probably drop more than a dose or two trying to just get a single dose for myself.
Anyways, I was also wondering if it's okay to take it orally with water. I weigh it out, put the powder on a spoon and just lick it off.
Was wondering what's an ideal amount of time for one to see results. I mean, it takes a lot of effort for me to actually dose so I'm hoping it's all worth it in the end. Then again, I won't ever know if I don't try.
Took ~20mg orally just now.

You could buy a 5-10mg scoop, and scoop the powder out in small increments onto the scale.

Get a plastic scoop that's made for powders such as these. I use a 500mg scoop that came with my tub of ALCAR.

You could purchase a different container to transfer it into. The NSI-189 from VLK's group buy came in a container similar to this one and it's ideal for just tilting and tapping until approximately the right dosage comes out.

Thanks. I totally forgot that I had one but unfortunately I cannot find it. So I think I'll put an order in for one of those soon, along with some capsules so I don't have to always scoop out the powder and weigh it out before I dose. Also, what are those powder containers called? I'd love to have one of those, but not sure what to search for on Amazon.
Again: Sorry if this has already been answered previously but how many days did it take before any of you guys noticed a benefit from NSI-189 usage?

Hi all, this arrive from Bioscience Nutraceuticals, I'm treading with caution until I have it tested. Can anyone confirm smell, taste, texture and any details that might help compare authentic NSI-189 to my product?
Have uploaded a couple images...
Cheers
Visually, that looks similar to vlk's - somewhat fluffy and hydrophobic. The taste is a little like burned plastic to me, others say like capers. It also numbs the tongue a bit.
So far I'm quite impressed with the product I received, it seems to fit people's descriptions here (more so of the freebase) and the effects are interesting to say the least. I have yet to get my friend to find the time to test it for me but I will be sure to post when I do.
As for the taste - I find it's not too dissimilar from Noopept, which also had a burned rubber-like flavour. Although this has a slight "peppery" characteristic.

http://www.neuroscie...hind-our-brains
Interesting article indeed. So COMT Val158Met, BDNF Val66Met, 5-HTTLPR are genetic variants that, at this stage of knowledge and research, are considered to facilitate hippocampus shrinking in individuals that experience serious stressful life events (deaths in the family, divorce, unemployment, financial losses, relocations, serious illnesses or accidents). In particular only when all three variants are present stressful life events could lead to hippocampus shrinking where "People with only one or even none of the risk genes, on the other hand, had an enlarged hippocampus with similar life events". This confirms the genetic component of depression which usually runs in families.
I wonder whether 23andme.com tests for those specific genes (I doubt it) or you need specific genetic testing.
NSI-189 can potentially reverse hippocampus shrinking if Neuralstem Inc. claims will be validated.
I also wonder what substances and treatment can help prevent hippocampus shrinking in the first place when a serious stressful life event occur in high risk individuals who carry the above genetic variants.
I am thinking of beta blockers (i.e. propranolol) to counteract high adrenalin levels, phosphatidylserine/Vitamin C etc. to counteract high cortisol levels or GABA enhancers/agonists (such as valium or other benzos) to replenish/mantain GABA levels.
Does anyone know which hormones are released (possibly in high levels) and/or neurotransmitters depleted during serious stressful life events that might have a negative impact in the hippocampus size? Any good resource on physiology and neurobiology of stressful life events?

Dose: I started dosing 40mg oral veg. capsules. twice a day since 2nd of August, that is, it's my 18th day today.
Today I've only taken a 20mg oral veg. capsule despite what the study says. Again, I noticed a lot of anxiety. What's up with this thing?!
I once tried 5mg and 15mg sublingual but I didn't notice that much of a difference.

tianeptine has a decent amount of papers saying it protects against stress

I must interject a word of caution within that recommendation. Tianeptine has been further and further demonstrating what appears to be high tendencies toward tolerance, withdrawals upon cessation, and potential abuse dynamics. The jury is not as yet out, but the evidence seems to perhaps be gathering to support this. Notably it has mu-opioid agonist activity, and indeed may well bear the traits to some degree of classical opiates.
