Hello:

Someone knows some remedy for sinusitis? I not sure if I is sinusitis or allergy. Symptoms: nasal congestion, itching, as I have cold.

I hear the sea water is so good for this.

What is your opinion about this?

Regards.

I had a blocked nose for a decade or so.
Colloidal/Ionic Silver 'snarfed' every 2 hrs or so for a day or 2 cured it and I had to train myself to breath through my nose again.
NB that there is evidence that CS is neurotoxic.
I didnt know that at the time, so do do some research on neuro-protectants 1st if you decide to try this. Lithium etc.

It cured my dandruff too.

Thanks for your response. I don´t understand what is 'snarfed', is snort? (I´m spanish). What is NB and CS? The quimic elements?

Do you talk more about the neuro-protectants?

Thank you very much.

snarfed= snorted
cs=colloidal silver
nb=take note! = pay attention= important!

neuro-protectants:
I would now take a good multi vitamin, krill oil, and about 5mg of lithium as lithium orotate before snorting CS.
Hopefully others will chime in with advice here.

Colloidal silver is said to be antibacterial. Maybe Logic had a long-standing sinus infection that was cleared by the CS, but I wouldn't expect it to work for allergic sinusitis, which is probably what the OP has. Allergic sinusitis is very common. I wouldn't inhale anything unless you know that it's soluble in water and harmless to lung tissue. If possible, the best thing would be to see a doctor and get the sinusitis diagnosed. If it's a bacterial infection, you can treat it. If it's a viral infection, just wait for it to go away. If it's an allergic problem, the first thing to do is figure out what you're allergic to. Allergists can test for common allergies. Then take steps to avoid that particular allergen, or if you can't avoid it, consider immunotherapy. As far as home remedies go, you could try a nasal rinse. There are commercial preparations that are sterile and isotonic. Sea water might do more harm than good, I don't know. Hot compresses on the face might help, or breathing steam. Even hot drinks might make you feel better.

While evidence is sparse Niner; there is some evidence of anti-viral activity, as well as anti-bacterial and anti-fungal activity.

I should have clarified that this will only work for a sinus infection, if at all, but assumed that the normal, standard avenues of treatment had been tried..?
I was saying what worked for me...

I cured sinusitis once with the help of a neti-pot (nasal douche) in which I added xylitol to the usual mix of water + salt. I also used colloidal silver http://www.iherb.com...z-59-14-ml/1499 (maybe i put some of this directly in the netipot, dont remember). Please educate yourself about the neti-pot before attempting to use it (traditionnally i dont think you're supposed to use anything besides water+salt)

Xylitol
http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/21994147

I would make sure gums are healthy as well as the rest of the throat area. All of which would benefit from the bacteria altering nature of using Xylitol. Xylitol has the added bonus of pushing calcium from the saliva deeper into the teeth to strengthen them.

I personally make my own mouthwash using Calcium lactate, Xylitol, and Sea Salt.

I have had issues with sinus allergies and sinusitis most of my life. The things that worked well are nasal irrigation and immunotherapy. My GP said immunotherapy never works, so I ignored his advice and the immunotherapy worked extremely well.

Google the Grossan Nasal Irrigator. This is what the sinus specialist recommended for sinusitis (assuming there is no bacterial infection). You take a standard waterpik (used for the teeth) and plug the Grossan into it. Then hold it to one nostril and turn on the waterpik. The water squirts out the other nostril. Use pure water + salt + baking soda. It sounds weird, but it didn't bother me at all when doing it, and it really clears out the sinuses.

Raising the humidity also helped.

Nasal irrigation with a neti pot does the exact same thing, alsmot for free!

Do a "neti pot instructions" or "how to neti pot" google search to find more info

if it's chronic, see a doctor. If something is blocking the sinus duct so it won't drain, you will have repeated infections only temporarily relieved by antibiotics. Polyps can be easily removed if that's what it is.

Actually they do NOT do the exact same thing. In fact the difference between the techniques is described in the wikipedia article that you linked. I extracted and highlighted the relevant section from your wikipedia link:

Irrigation machines that utilize electric motor-driven pumps are also available. These irrigation devices pump salt water solution through a tube, in connection with a nasal adapter tip designed to seal against the nostril. Some of these machines allow adjustment of water volume/speed by use of an adjustment dial which regulates pump speed and volume per minute. Most of these motorized machines use a pulsatile or pulsating water pumping action at a relatively low, predetermined fixed pulse cyclic rate, designed to match the normal wave rate of healthy, unobstructed nasal cilia.[29] This matched pulse rate is claimed to stimulate the nasal cilia hairs and promote better sinus health, while reducing the severity of allergic reactions.[30] More sophisticated motorized irrigators have two or more pulse cycle settings that adjust the actual pulse cycle (as opposed to a simple volume/speed control, which does not alter the pulse cyclic rate). This design affords the user the option of using a higher pulse cyclic rate when suffering from partially closed sinuses, as in a typical case of acute sinusitis. The efficacy of all motorized pump irrigators has not yet been tested compared to simpler non-motorized mechanical pressure nasal irrigation methods.[31]

The sinus specialist I used recommended the pulsatile irrigation technique for precisely the reasons underlined above. Sure it was more expensive. I figure my body is worth it.

The best advice in this thread, however, is "See a doctor", preferably a sinus specialist if you are having chronic problems. I did and it helped tremendously.

Nasal irrigation is good especially if you have an itchy nose which is a sign of allergies. Sinusitis is an infection of the nasal sinuses also known as the Paranasal sinuses and it usually leaves you with nasal congestion, loss of smell and taste, pressure in the head and light yellow or green mucus. As you know, for the best diagnosis and treatment you have to see and ENT doctor, because they specialize in the condition and they know it best.Posted Image

As always, thanks for the responses.

In my case, I haven´t chronic obstruction, when I cure the cold, the obstruction dissapears. I usually run one time in a week and this help me to "clean" my nasal. Little by little, in 2-3 monts or so I start again.

Regards.
