"Amber fossil reveals ancient reproduction in flowering plants



It will be possible to extract huge data from preserved fossils by emerging techniques.



A 100-million-year old piece of amber has been discovered which reveals the oldest evidence of sexual reproduction in a flowering plant – a cluster of 18 tiny flowers from the Cretaceous Period – with one of them in the process of making some new seeds for the next generation.

The perfectly-preserved scene, in a plant now extinct, is part of a portrait created in the mid-Cretaceous when flowering plants were changing the face of the Earth forever, adding beauty, biodiversity and food. It appears identical to the reproduction process that "angiosperms," or flowering plants still use today.

Researchers from Oregon State University and Germany published their findings on the fossils in the Journal of the Botanical Institute of Texas.

The flowers themselves are in remarkable condition, as are many such plants and insects preserved for all time in amber. The flowing tree sap covered the specimens and then began the long process of turning into a fossilized, semi-precious gem. The flower cluster is one of the most complete ever found in amber and appeared at a time when many of the flowering plants were still quite small.

Even more remarkable is the microscopic image of pollen tubes growing out of two grains of pollen and penetrating the flower's stigma, the receptive part of the female reproductive system. This sets the stage for fertilization of the egg and would begin the process of seed formation – had the reproductive act been completed.

"In Cretaceous flowers we've never before seen a fossil that shows the pollen tube actually entering the stigma," said George Poinar, Jr., a professor emeritus in the Department of Integrative Biology at the OSU College of Science. "This is the beauty of amber fossils. They are preserved so rapidly after entering the resin that structures such as pollen grains and tubes can be detected with a microscope."

Laymen don't understand that computers are machines doing maths. that';s all.
If the maths is advanced you need less computing.
But if the computing is advanced, you need less maths!
The greater and faster computers get, the earlier Quantum Archaeology can map the quantum world.
For human resurrections we dont need to go too far into teh quantum, and about 5 nanometres is thought to be the smallest relevant unique tracts of any human.

You can put standard parts in for less than that.

The point is to study diseases, and also the limits of engineering.

In the early 2020's Machine Intelligence will take over from men doing experiments and research. Things are very slow comparatively.

By 2027 or 2026, technology should have accelerated fast enough to accurately calculate the past to quantum levels (under 100 billionths of a metre) and resurrect the dead with microrobots as The Quantum Archaeology Grid

The study also confirms that the Neanderthal traits underwent positive selection, which is how advantageous traits becomes established in a population.
The findings come during a time of huge interest in comparative evolution being used to trace genetic ancestry. On Dec 18, the most complete sequence of Neanderthal DNA was published by a team of international researchers in the journal Nature. The study was completed with DNA extracted from a 50,000 year old toe bone that belonged to a Neanderthal woman."

At some point quantum calculations and quantum technology is going to be used to describe the past (mainly as quantum computers dawn in 2022, when fault errors are no longer preventative).
The calculation then possible will enable a history that is integrated...one event will link to another at all scales possible.
Nothing that has happened will be outside simulation capabilities, including raising the dead.

Researchers find dogs sensitive to small variations in Earth's magnetic field




Cause & Effect underpin the world. There is no part of any action that s not directly caused and interrelated to other events.

Mapping those events is being done, mainly manually by scientists. When sufficient basic mapping is completed, calculations can be made using the laws of physics, to cart the whole world present and past: including human thoughts (which are not outside the law of physics).

This enormous discovery will thunder in the human psyche as death is correctly seen as reversible.
