RickyFitts:  I too am +/+ SOD2, experimenting with C60 as an SOD mimetic. I’ve taken it intermittently since early this year (2018).  My energy levels and emotional stability have always been good, so I wasn’t expecting much by adding C60 to my supplement regimen.  However, the initial effects the day after the first dose were palpable and profound, similar to what you and others here have described.  But, also like you, they have become less pronounced as time has gone by.  I still feel quite good; maybe I've just gotten used to a "new normal".  Reading so many similar reports, I have to wonder if, in the beginning, we may have experienced a hormetic or adaptive effect from the C60, with an uptick in metabolism, but that over time, with chronic dosing, we may have become habituated to it.  Additionally, if you’re really feeling poorly, C60 may have induced a down-regulation of the other endogenous antioxidants (glutathione and catalase), which may have been up-regulated prior to C60 consumption in order to compensate for the under-functioning SOD.  Also, consider the possibility that C60, as a mitochondrial energizer, may be stimulating detox reactions that the other pathways are not prepared to handle.  Such situations can make a person feel quite ill.  At any rate, cell signaling confounded by environmental and genetic variances is no easy scenario to unravel.  However, in my mind, it suggests that lower doses or intermittent cycles of C60 might be more prudent and advantageous than chronic, uninterrupted dosing.  Like you, my blood levels have also tested high for iron at times (without hardly ever eating meat!), but curiously, only after a period of time at altitude.  Recent testing revealed I have 2 genes that predispose me to hereditary hemochromatosis (iron overload).  The genes are activated in low oxygen environments (in my case, high altitude).  Have you been tested for hemochromatosis or the genes predisposing to it?  Needless to say, this added potential for oxidative stress is a double whammy for people with under-functioning SOD2.  Hence, I'm not ready to give up on C60.
