Hi there I was basically wondering about the L-Carnitine supplement in the form of ALCAR (Acetyl L-Carnitine) and I was interested in trying it if there are any sort of memory benefits (not sure if there is to this level but basically I have trouble remembering what happened a few days ago) do you think it would help for that and also for OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) symptoms? and also for anxiety or ADHD symptoms

Also do you know of any other sort of vitamins or something i may be deficient in causing the trouble remembering what happened a few days ago (I'm interested in b vitamins, but i don't know what other things I can have in a non-drug like way more of a correcting a potential deficency way)

another question I am also interested in is how safe is l-carnitine because I have researched that it does seem likely safe but what I am worried of is that maybe it will cause a dependency and if you stop your intelligence/cognition may drop further than baseline or drop suddenly making you feel dumb? And so it would be possibly not be desireable for that reason?

Thanks so much :)

Here we go...

There is no perfect formula that will work for everyone. But I can tell you for sure that the next formula will work for you with a high probability (I say probability becase although all these are safe compounds your body may react different that expected).

1000 mg Piracetam
1000 mg fish oil (search for high DHA content)
500 mg ALCAR
B complex vitamins set

Try this for 2 weeks, then come back with some feedback. After 2 weeks you will want to add some extra choline sources other than the one from food.
And an universal must: every day do 10-15 min of excercise and watch carefully what you eat. Forbidden are: any souce, fried things in sunflower oil.
As for recommended: any vegetables you can find, lots of salads, as you need minerals for your brain to stay healthy.

Peace and be smart with your motivation!

I will warn you that if you have any kind of thyroid weakness any kind of carnitine may be a poor choice.

Whenever I used carnitine I felt a huge initial lift of energy for a day or two followed by extreme lethargy that would not go away until I stopped. It appears through my research that carnitine may block certain thyroid receptors, so if you are borderline hypothyroid this may make you feel worse. If your hyperthyroid it may actually be better. They actually now are considering using carnitine to help treat hyperthyroidism.
