I took my first prescribed 200mg dose of Modafinil today at (stupidly) 3PM. Alongside it, I had some dark chocolate, and I am VERY sensitive to caffeine. Now, 6 hours later, and I can't stop... doing things. I got it for motivation/apathy, and it helps me focus so well, but, and this will take more experimenting, I just wonder how to be on this and be able to relax, to think creatively and clearly, and not just mindlessly get things done. I know the caffeine greatly enhanced the stimulation, but does anyone have any feedback about this topic? I should probably only take it on days I am working (I am a filmmaker and videographer, either out in the field or doing boring things on the computer). I also take .75/mg klonopin a day (weaning off) and Gabapentin as needed for physical anxiety (either a hit or miss, sometimes it feels "dirty"). Thanks!

L-Theanine is a commonly accepted staple to stack with stimulants such as Caffeine (mostly in a 2:1 Thean:Caff dosing ratio), to promote a calm feeling to smoothen out and balance the edginess of stimulants.

For me, I only use 50mg Modafinil, and whenever I have caffeine with it, I use a 3:1 Thean:Caff ratio, since I'm mixing 2 stimulants. For example: 50mg Moda, 100mg caffeine, 300mg l-theanine.

Adding Aniracetam can help as well.

Yes, thanks, I use L-Theanine as needed. I try to avoid caffeine as much as possible. It definitely synergized with Modafinil, but I get a crash from the caffeine portion, no matter the smallest dose. Would something like, a low dose of L-DOPA suit alongside Modafinil well? I have 1-carboxy, which is I guess L-DOPA with a COMT inhibitor. Kind of sounds like too much.

I'd love to experiment more with -racetams, espectially phenylracetam (which is stimulating), but piracetam and all cholinergics make me depressed.

From some more experimenting, it seems that Modafinil only really has a motivational effect (as opposed to just a wakefulness one) when combined with dopaminergics. A very small amount of dark chocolate goes really well with it. Since I can't really have too much (or any) caffeine, what would be something sustainable to combine with Modafinil for its fullest effect? I have read the "Combinations" threads, but what about something like a low dose of Tyrosine/L-DOPA?

Modafinil already increases dopamine levels, any small amounts of tyrosine will probably be a waste of tyrosine. If you want to avoid the over stimulation, cut down the dosage of the modafinil -- snap it in half or quarters. I started with 200 mgs which stimulated my mouth immensely, the next few days it started making me sleepy. Paradoxal. Now I take it @50 mgs periodically when I do. Along with aniracetam which is calming and ginko biloba to regulate the release.
