Just thought this was important to those who can't afford a very expensive scale.

With my own milligram scale ($20+shipping), it keeps on wanting to go back to zero if it's close to zero.
So I turn my scale on without the tray. Then I put the tray on and I don't tare it. I write down the weight shown (2.500).
Then I can put about 10mg on and it shows 2.510.
I then calculate the difference (10).

Seems to be +/-1-2mg on the cheap Gemini.

This scale has a laser-pointer battery super glued to the weighing platform, super glued to a plastic tray

I found a q-tip and a dab of acetone cleans it up really nicely.

Why did you superglue a battery to the scale? Over the long term, that kind of battery is prone to leaking corrosive gunk.

Instead of a battery, use a quarter.

I don't get what you're trying to accomplish. Is this just a hack to avoid buying a decent scale?

The reason(maybe) it is only $20 is there is a clearance problem. The scale doesn't work because a tray rests on the scale's body, about a dime's distance from the active part of the scale. So I put a dime on the scale, and for $20 I have enough accuracy for my purposes, Reviewers of the scale (and me) are very happy about accuracy, convenience and price.
