Hi Everyone,

I have set up this POLL to decide whether or not we should continue with establishing a set of RULES & PROTOCOL to be followed during Group Buys, with the objective being to protect both the Group Buy ORGANIZER and PARTICIPANTS, as well as maximizing the probability of a successful outcome in all respects, and to help maintain good relations between everyone involved throughout the Group Buy process.

So I present the question:
Should we establish a set of RULES & PROTOCOL to be followed during future Group Buys? YES or NO? :)

I'm inclined to vote yes; however I believe they should serve more as a template to which a group buy host can simply state they are adhering to. It should not, however, be mandatory for every group buy, for this would limit the threshold that people would be willing to pass to facilitate such a thing, lowering the probability of group buys happening.

Absolutely! Steps must be taken to minimize risks and prevent future disagreements. Every member should be on the same page from day one.

I votes yes; but, not for a certain set of rules. Rather I was thinking along the lines of an escrow service which would be more conveniant.

I absolutely agree. :)

In fact, I thought it was already clear that whatever RULES & PROTOCOL we compose can only really be viewed as guidelines to voluntarily be followed during Group Buys, given they are not being imposed by LONGECITY Management... But clearly it is not clear, so I think it would be a good idea to add an appropriate statement to the RULES & PROTOCOL such that this is indeed made clear to all [EDIT: I have now added such a statement to the Group Buy RULES & PROTOCOL thread] ;)

Group buy guidelines should be pinned, what is the hold up? I'm tired of reading angry posts "why didnt XYZ arrive, why does my XYZ taste like shit"

Personally, I agree that it would be a very good idea indeed if they are PINNED... Just as soon as this POLL is finished (ideally I would like to see at least total 30 votes) then I will request that it be PINNED... In the meantime I will keep BUMPING it ;)

This is an excellent idea and I agree 100%.

I would also like to suggest something that would greatly compliment this. In addition to having a set of rules and a protocol, there should be a separate subforum dedicated to group buys: This separate subforum would have the pinned rules and protocol relevant to group buys. This way, the discussion in the group buy thread would strictly be limited to specifics related to the group buy (payment information, participants, purity, ect) and speculation, discussion of, and anecdotes related to the specific nootropic would be kept in the Brain Health section .

The reason I suggest this, is because, one does not need to navigate through 50 pages of speculation to find things relevant to the actual group buy and conversely, one does not need to navigate through 50 pages of the group buy information to find anecdotes and speculation. With a separate subforum, this problem essentially would not exist. Lastly, things will stay much more organized with a dedicated subforum.

If such a subforum dedicated to group buys was created, it would be wise to have it visible to registered users only. If a reputable lab was to view one of these group buy threads as a visitor (non-registered user), they might put two and two together, and realize the compound they are working on is actually what the group buy is buying. They might have second thoughts about making a specific compound (potential liability) if they knew 50 humans on an internet forum were intending to ingest it. By having the subforum private, this concern would not exist.

Although i 'm a new member here,i voted yes.Rules, good specified, and a basic protocol will only help a gb to go through faster and with more safety for both parties.

Same as everyone else, it seems. I'm very, very much in favor of a "standard protocol" for group buys. It should be one that can be used out of the box, but also one that folks should expect to change on the basis of individual buys. I think the group organizer should be responsible for clearly explaining which protocol (if any) is being used, and then other folks can agree to participate or not (or suggest changes to the protocol proffered by the organizer.)

I think its a good idea, but before doing it i would seek legal advice in order to ensure that by doing so you're not creating a liability for the website operator. one example of potential liability would be under section 230 of the communications decency act which holds that website operators aren't responsible for the content produced by the users of the website. however, if the website operator actively becomes involved in posting content then immunity has been waived in certain instances where website operators materially participated in creating content. not sure whether that would apply here but its probably smart to make sure. creating guidelines might be okay if not mandatory, but in may be construed as facilitating the activity if it were an official requirement of the website. in this case if it were just a guideline posted by a random user who doesn't represent the site then that would probably be better. again i am not an expert so it would be best to speak to someone more knowledgeable.

agree

FYI - The date that I started this POLL precedes the date that I found out about what happened to VLK... and even so I personally am of the view that the decision is not for any one individual to make, but via a DEMOCRACY... I realize this POLL might seem 'obvious' to some people; however, it is important that we go about this in the correct manner, and this includes the need to have this POLL ;)

...if the website operator actively becomes involved in posting content...

Thank you for expressing your concern and very astute observation; however, please kindly note that this is never, ever going to happen, and hence please be reassured by the fact that your concern is consequentially a non-issue :)

I'm new here and I actually found this site whilst researching Nicotinamide Riboside and by chance found a link to the group buy and this site.
I have registered interest in that group buy and think it is in everybody's interests for GB's to be governed by some basic ground rules.....so I vote yes.

And to be perfectly honest I am quite surprised that someone has actually voted no in the poll! :|?

Absolutely! A independently lab tested & issued CoA, should be required as part of the rules, at a minimum, in my humble opinion.
