Where does nootropics stand in the natural cycle of growth

I am trying to formulate these questions for some time.
How does someone get stronger , smarter and more efficient at what he is doing ?
How does someone get dumber , weaker , and less efficient what he is doing ?
How wakefulness change ?
Why do we have pleasure , and we get less pleasure as we dig in more ?
What is natural cycle of getting better ?

My guess is
1) Something attracts you - you want to have it -you wake up - focus on getting it -
1-a) you use brute force and fail - and rest - get stronger - use brute force again until you get it (you get stronger) ...
1-b) you try to get it without getting exhausted - you read, learn efficient methods (in other words prepare and practice) for getting it - you fail , rest and prepare harder (you get more intelligent at getting it - crystallized intelligence ).
1-c) if the obstacles change dynamically , you try to understand the phenomena to predict what will happen - you fail - you rest - you try again untill you predict correctly (you get wiser)
1-d) you try to get it by instantly forcing a solution in a very limited setting (conditions and time) - you fail - you try harder to combine things at your disposal in a practical manner until you get it (you get more intelligent generally - fluid intelligence)
1-e) You perform a combination of 1-a to 1-d in different ratios (you get better - stronger in many aspects)

Where does nootropics stand at this picture ? What if my environment and my goals limit my capacity to grow out of them ?
Is it possible that someone needing nootropics are fighting for lost causes, or trying to accomplish something unrewarding (during entire process) or not motivating enough ? Just plain bitter to chew bad for teeth kind of thing ...

Please elaborate on these questions... I really want to be informed about what forum users think about the significance and permanency of nootropics.

One good place nootropics fit is in the increasing of intelligence. And by getting smarter, studying nootropics, and refining them further, it is intelligence increasing intelligence increasing intelligence, ad nauseum.
