I have registered as Shonghow. My name does not appear on the team list, what should I do?
Hi Shonghow, thanks for registering.
Make sure you have the Folding client engaged. You should see a multicolored icon ( for the latest win client) in the System Tray (at the bottom of the screen). If you are using an earlier client the image looks like a red flower but for the latest client, the multi-colored icon looks llike this:
Click the image and determine if the work unit is progressing, there will be a percentage indication 0%, 1%, 2%, until 100%, as the work unit progresses. When the work unit is complete (100%) it will attempt to send it to Stanford and get a new one.
If you think a work unit has already completed, check your configuration to make sure you have the team number correct (32461) otherwise you will probably be working for anynomous or whatever, also make sure your username is correct.
Feel free to mention any additional specific concerns that you may have here.

Good question Shonghow. Is it possible to use many different computers at the same time as using the user name Shonghow to increase the speed of progressing or do you have to sign up as different users on different computers?
Yes, this is a very good way of increasing productivity.
You can run as many computers as you like under the same team name and same username. The computers can be at any location, for example, maybe a friend or relative wants to help you out.
When the client software is downloaded and installed, a User ID number is assigned to to each installation. This ensures that computers running under same team and username will not be folding duplicate work units.
If one has a dual-core or quad-core computer, then one can effectively run multiple clients (one client per core for regular work units). In this case, the user can assign what is called a Machine ID number in the client configuration, the default value is #1. Up to eight Machine ID numbers (#s1, 2,3...8) can be assigned by the user.

Depends on the speed of your processor, and if you are using the beta client that utilizes your graphics card or not.A question I somehow seem to have missed,About how many points per day can be expected from each modern Windows xp computer??
And how about mackintosh?

Yes agreed, Live Forever.Depends on the speed of your processor, and if you are using the beta client that utilizes your graphics card or not.
As I recall, the Stanford benchmark machine is a 2.8 GHz P4 for regular uniprocessor work units, and points are established at 110 PPD . If your computer is faster or slower your points can be considerably different. There are many other factors, see this thread.
Again, depends. Older Macs can be pretty slow, especially those with G4 processors. Newer Macs with Intel Core 2 processors (or even newer versions) can fold work units relatively fast. And how about mackintosh?
FahInfo is a very good resource for this research.
