L-Tryptophan / L-Tyrosine ratio?

I am taking 1000mg of L-Tryptophan every night and 500mg of L-Tyrosine every morning.

 

Is the ratio OK or is it too much Tryptophan? 

 

I've heard that the ratio must be perfect or otherwise one of them will counteract the other one

(for example, if taking too much tryptophan, it will deplete the dopamine levels that tyrosine is

set to fix).

 

I know that with 5-HTP, it is 500mg of Tyrosine for every 50mg's of 5-HTP.

 

Anyone knows?

The body cannot synthesize both Serotonin and Dopamine at the same time from the basic precursors of L-Tryp and L-Tyro, so you're right to split the doses between morning and night. The dosages seem right, if you find the effects are good.

The ratio you're talking about is only for 5-HTP + Tyrosine. 5-HTP skips the rate limiting step in synthesizing Serotonin, and thus doesn't have the same problems that L-Tryptophan does, but if you don't keep your neurotransmitters balanced you will feel very off, possibly depressed. That's the balance they're talking about, not the synthesis.

Basically, you're conflating the rate limiting step with the overall neurotransmitter balance. What you're doing right now is perfectly fine.

I have low dopamine and serotonin. Currently doing 500 mg L-Tyrosine for the last 3 days and feeling a considerably positive effect. I also don't want to create an imbalance. How should I appropriately supplement with Tryptophan? And how long will I need to keep it up for?

Since when can it not synthesize the two together? Of course it can.

Are tryptophan & tyrosine the kind of supplements one should take regularly or is it ok to take both 3-4 days a week?
 

Last week I started taking 800mg tryptophan at night and 500-1000mg tyrosine in the morning. Is that a correct ratio?

Has anyone noticed waking up more often because of tryptophan, by the way?

Ok, so my tolerance to l-tyrosine skyrocketed in just over a week. I took a few days off, but that helped only ever so slightly.

Is there something I can take to upregulate dopamine production/receptors in long-term? As far as I understand, supplementing with l-tyrosine is not gonna lead anywhere in the long run, so what would be the safe and more reliable alternative?

This is how I concluded I should take it just based on the fact that dopamine can keep you awake. 

 

I get my L-tryptophan in bulk and am trying to figure out how to mix it. Some say to mix it with warm water and collagen peptides and letting it bond. Problem is that L-tryptophan doesn't mix well in water and I kind of want the benefits of the collagen as well as the tryptophan. Wouldn't letting it bond negate the benefits of the collagen?

is there anything that when you inject it you bypass its rate limiting step (how much your DNA code allows of it to make something else) vs taking orally?' Like are b vitamins precursors to anything?
