I'm reading through information on Sodium Valproate here: http://www.alldayche...te-er-7123.html (thanks to KimberCT http://www.longecity...valproic-acid/)

It says:

Avoid crushing, breaking, or chewing a Divalproex extended release (ER) tablet as doing so may lead to too much of the medicine to be release at once. Instead swallow it whole. You must ensure to drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Always store Divalproex Sodium anti-convulsant medication in a cool and dry place.

However, I'm considering taking this as part of a perfect-pitch training experiment (http://www.longecity...ral-plasticity/)

My thinking is that this compound is designed to counteract epileptic seizures, which means it must be administered consistently; optimally the patient should maintain a constant rate of influx.

But in my case I need to dose up and train, maybe for only one hour.

So I could maybe reduce my intake to a fraction of the recommended dose. This might also have a benefit that it would offset the development of tolerance.

So I'm considering crushing a single 1000mg pill into say 10 doses of 100mg.

A single dose of 25mg powder may take effect after a few minutes and last for an hour... That would be ideal, but I've no idea whether that's how these things work. Maybe I would need to mix it in to a juice-drink and sip it over the course of the hour...

Can anyone give some definition to this idea?

You will need to weigh the pill on a scale then divide that amount by 10 because of all the filler in the pill 100mg Valproic acid will weigh more than 100mg.

Valproate comes in liquid form, maybe try to get that? There is also 125 mg capsules and tablets which might be easier

Quite surprised someone has downvoted my original post.

I think I'm asking a valid question here. Because I don't understand exactly how Sodium Valproate acts, I don't know whether it is important to maintain a constant supply to the brain over say a week, or whether I could just take a dose and half an hour later it would put my brain into a more plastic state, whereupon I could do the training exercise and shortly afterwards my brain would return to normal.

If the latter is the case, this would be worth knowing! Because it doesn't look like a very pleasant compound, and I don't want to put any more through my system than is necessary for accomplishing the task I have embarked upon.
