I found a problem as well on the longecity15 code for 6 bottles. However the longecity15x code for 12 bottles made my head turn. I don't want to post the per gram number because something is up and I don't want to jinx it or maybe they made a mistake. I'll put an email in about the longecity15 code.

Hi Bryan_S,

Now that a week or so has passed...

.... perhaps you could tell us a little more about the longecity15 code.

Was it all a big mistake ?

Or is the 'head turning' low price truly real ?

So how much is it ?

Thanks for your help

:-)

Yea it was a mistake. I emailed they needed to fix the longecity15x code and the other one got changed back also, guess I should have kept my mouth shut.

The discount is still active, just checked.

why is the Longecity15x Special, 12 X Bottles.... .only 320 days of supply ?

Surely, That should be 360 days... no ?

12 bottles X 30 days = 360 days ... at least, it is on planet Zog, where i'm from.

Perhaps they could have another stab at the pricing : because....

Currently the Longecity15x for 6 is $33.33 per bottle.

whereas the Longecity15x for 12 is $31.00 per bottle.

There's not much incentive to double the size of the order.

However....If the Longecity15x for 12 was below $30 per bottle,

then... that would definitely be more persuasive.  :-)

And i presume they want to romp home with surging orders for the 12 batch.

I wonder if they'll read this post ?

They might but they know they have it over the other venders with verifiable 3rd party testing and the cleanest product on the market. I know of one vender right now trying to undercut this offer but they aren't investing in the customer safety assurance side and appear to be faking the effort to gain an edge.

HPN is the guys everyone else is trying to beat. They moved into a totally vegetarian product for us at our request, no extra excipients like silica powder or Magnesium stearate. And according to HPN it costs more to encapsulate the NR with these organic alternatives. No other vender we've approached could care less. So while HPN spends money to assure you of a quality product the completion tries to gain an edge by faking the same.

How you spend your money is up to you but if we don't support these guys its the wild wild west with no one else trying to do us right. So its buyer beware. I want cheaper product but I also want a product I can trust at a fair price. JMHO

The 200 capsule bottles are on the forefront so we will look forward to a new price category.

Here on Zog the month has flipped over to September.

I guess that means that news on the 200 capsule bottles is imminent.

Am I missing something here > Thorne Research Amazon everyday pricing (prime Free Shipping) is $59 for 60 x 250mg or $29.50/30 day supply.

Isn't that better than all these so-called 'special forum discounts'?  Dunno... maybe the 200 cap deal will be better?

I will stick with HPN. They have been a reliable supplier with a simple soluble excipient-cellulose. I take it under the tongue, and feel that there is a definite quick absorption of some of the NR. A hint to the possibilities of the method could be found in a recent sec filing which had a reference to a potential melt or dissolvable delivery method. (No actual product mentioned.) I am not knocking any of the other suppliers.

What is the benefit of taking it sublingually?

I no longer take mine by Sublingual administration but did until a few months ago. Its a faster absorption method through the mucus membranes but a few users here have challenged its effectiveness. I'll still do this on occasion and don't mind the taste but have opted for the more traditional method being I'm taking a gram over 12-hours every day. HPN was the first vender to change their formulation to accommodate our sublingual dosage habits with their formulation and go totally vegetarian with their ingredients (No silicon dioxide, silica, glass) so they've proven to be the most responsive vender to our needs.

The HPN IC3 code is still active and by October we will see new deals like to 200 capsule bottles.

The Thorne Research @ Amazon is today the best per gram offer I've seen in awhile if they are truly delivering 15 grams of NR per bottle. 250 X 60 capsules.

They are using silicon dioxide as an excipient with I don't care for because its a carcinogen and an ingredient I wouldn't take sublingually but they've included Leucine which is a first as a excipient.

I'll take this up with HPN and see if we can adjust the new 25 gram 200 capsule orders to stay ahead of the competition.

Hi Bryan_S :-)

Your above comments are perfect timing for a question i was about to ask in this very forum.

My question is:

How is NR best taken ?

{a}  Empty stomach vs after a meal.

{b}  What substances help the body to absorb NR ?  (eg vitamin C ... or perhaps Leucine ?)

{c}  best drunken with acids (lemon juice/apple cider vinegar) or alkalis (bi-carb soda, milk)  ?

Thanks to anyone who answers :-)

You're doing excellent work, Bryan_S, we're all grateful.

do you notice a difference between say.. 250mg per day and 500mg per day and 1000mg per day ?

Is it that you feel yourself to have more energy ?

Rather than me put words in your mouth, what effect do you notice from these higher dosages ?

Oh.. and.. do you have a link to the 'user experiences' thread ?

Thanks for your help Bryan_S :-)

1) Doesn't Leucine activate mTOR?

2) Playground, this was actually a discussion that started on the main thread regarding when and how. It was recently discovered that NAMPT levels spike early afternoon and the conclusion was that the best time to take it was around noon. I also take it first thing in the morning under the theory that if they're spiking at noon, they may be spiking as soon as you get up. That's just based on similar spikes around similar times with cortisol levels (i.e. never drink coffee as soon as you get up or between 8 and 9:00 or 13 and 14:00.

Many interesting topics brought up here.

a) Didn't realize Leucine activated mTOR, but now I do. Can't be much in a Thorne's capsule, so is that enough or how much to maximize effect? I take BCAAs in my AM drink mix to take my LCR NR (not Thorne), and get ~1G Leucine, not knowing this. Happy coincidence, I guess.

b) Nate-2004, can you give a link to the NAMPT discussion, I would be interested, thanks.

c) I see the silicon dioxide in Thorne's cap, as the last component, wonder how much that is? FDA says "generally recognized as safe" as a food ingredient. EPA says, "Toxicity Category III, which is the second lowest degree of the toxicity rating scale." And note that LCR NR has no silicon dioxide. Question is, why add something not really required like that?

d) Good questions playground! It's probably discussed somewhere, but interesting topic to me as well.

I currently use a blenderized pre-breakfast cocktail drink - 4 Oz Fresh Pomegranate juice, 2g BCCAs, 3.5g D-Aspartic Acid, 700mg Rhodiola Rosea Rosavin, 700mg L-Threonine, 15g Sunflower Lecithin, 15h Virgin Organic Coconut oil.  (Probably sounds awful, but really is quite tasty!)

Use above to take >> 250mg LCR NR, 100mg trans-PteroStilbene, 20mg PQQ, 700mg carnitine complex, 450mg UltraSOD Gliadin complex, and 500mg Curcumin C3. Seems to give a nice pick-me-up feeling.  Anyone with thoughts on above, please feel free to comment.

e) Still learning so not fully clear onNR time of day and NMPT concept. I was taking 375mg NR AM, 125mg PM, but have recently cut back to just 250mg AM dose, to see if I felt any difference. So far no.

f) Bryan_S, thanks for looking into better pricing for quantity...we all appreciate saving where we can :)

See here on the NAMPT discussion, it wasn't a long one.

You can Google mTOR and find a page on selfhacked about leucine. Examine has more details on BCAA's btw, there's little use in them. I use Examine a lot nowadays to figure out what's worth my time and money based on available evidence. They have quite an accumulation of data that's parsed and analyzed for strength of evidence, consistency and level of significance such as the effect compared to placebo. Not only that but they have translations to layman terms for us non-biochemists. I use that site in conjunction with this one too because they leave out some details such as quercetin and apigenin's CD38 inhibition. They're also missing L-carnosine for some reason.

I use my inflammation as an indicator. I also think beyond a certain point your flushing the NR down the drain if you ingest it faster than it can be utilized. So I spread my 1000 milligrams out over the day.

Some time ago when some of the first clinical trial data was being released we obtained half-life figures and put together some charts like this.

post-34050-0-92800500-1449117000.png

You can find some other charts @ http://www.longecity...-curated/page-4

The idea was to smooth out the levels through the day while maximizing NAD levels.

I'll see what HPN comes up with guys. We'll see with all the added competition how this all shakes out. I'll still shy away from the Silica powder and pay the difference to go with better ingredients but we can't expect all venders to do this. Its cheaper to use the powdered glass. And in doing so drop prices.

I will say this don't take these products sublingual because accidentally inhaling silica powder can create health problems and its likely better to not disturb and open these capsules.

Hopefully silica powder is safe topically, I've been using it in my hyaluronic acid gel each day but since you said it was unstable I have to add it each time I apply it so I just mix a small fraction of the capsule in my hand before applying.

This site concludes it is safe in cosmetics so I figure it's ok and no chance I'll inhale it from my hand before mixing.

Thanks for the link, interesting, and like everything, it's complicated.

On mTOR, I'm certainly after the good it offers, test, muscle growth, ATP, more mitochondria, the bad, esp. aging, not so much. I'm taking a little BCAA (50% Leucine) and protein, that's takes mTOR up, but also several supps and exercise that depress it.  I know I feel great, strong, w/muscles I've never had, and I'm 67. I take other things too, but something working, maybe a balance of many things helps.

I use Examine a lot too, they're mostly good, but not always. Knowledge builds, I read far and wide, make my own mind up. There's so much out there.

I tried a bottle of HPN, then went to Thorne Research.....I am going to stick with HPN.  So, I tried the lc3 code just now, and it wouldn't work. I tried about 5 times in a row, I even tried a different web browser. Can anyone confirm that it still works?

EDITED:

I apologize if this was off topic (reported as such). I was replying to the conversation about dosages and such above. I forgot to add the reason I was posting here in my excitement over how well NR is working for me. The larger dosage sales etc. I think would be a waste for me. I took advantage of the latest HPN sale and bought 12 bottles of the 125mg and they work perfect for me. The larger dosage sale mentioned of 60/250mg (the deal linked on Amazon) wouldn't work for me as I would go from taking 375 mg/day to 750 mg/day using my dosing schedule.

I put the original part of my post with my dosages etc. in the personal experiences thread.

Hi Bryan_S,

Two questions:

(1) Apart from your inflammation, do you notice any other effect(s)

of your 1000 mg daily NR regime ?

(2) I have inspected the Thorn Research product.  I expect HPN will now lose a lot of business.

They've put some attractive ingredients into that product.  They could only improve it if

they added cycloastrogenol and Milk Thistle.  Have HPN said _when_ they will deliver the

     sept 200 offer price ?

Thanks for your help.  Be happy

The competition will spread the business out but the user base is increasing as well. Some aspects like verifiable third party testing and organic ingredients will differentiate one product from the other along with price. It all comes down to what the consumer values. Since we are all part of a longevity group I would think our product scrutiny would be second to none and we watch more closely to what we put in our bodies.

This is the HPN group buy thread and some of this is discussion is best suited for the Vender Vetting thread. http://www.longecity...and-discussion/

The HPN 200 capsule bottles are on track for October.

Inflammation is what brought me here but mental clarity followed almost side by side like a fog had been lifted. I've been surprised at age spots that have faded and my skin looks better. I also had some neuropathy from my injuries that has almost completely disappeared. These are things better discussed on the experience thread.http://www.longecity...erience-thread

They list the active ingredient as "Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride" - 125 mg. And then say "This product contains ChromaDex Inc.'s proprietary Nicotinamide Riboside ingredient, Niagen". To me, this looks suspiciously like misleading labeling. For all we know it could be 8 parts chloride to 1 part Niagen. Or am I missing something here?

Not to mention that most Thorne Research products are usually over-priced, sometimes ridiculously so, and now they're giving us such a deal?

Good deal, HPN has the cleanest product to date and has stood by our members since the spring of 2014. You can't go wrong by supporting this vender.

Thorne and HPN have both been with ChromaDex since July of 2013. I have no problem with them in particular, they are currently going head to head with HPN on price but they still use Silicon dioxide (Powdered Glass) in their capsule preparation so its not exactly an apples to apples comparison. It costs more to take the path NPN has but Thorne at least has verifiable third party testing like HPN.

"To me, this looks suspiciously like misleading labeling"

You want to see misleading marketing, one venders "customer assurance" claims they perform third party testing but after 2 years of requests to demonstrate their claims they've produced nothing to assure any of us on LongeCity they are following any safety protocols. They also claim to have a certified lab and no Local or State authority can find paperwork confirming their claim and the company refuses to generate the paperwork to support that marketing. No Surprise really, they also claim to be "the Makers of Niagen" and that trade mark belongs to ChromaDex and they are "the makers of Niagen" and the only ones that can boast that claim. Tell me those things aren't misleading.

Its one go those days where misleading marketing bothers me and as far as I can tell Thorne hasn't made that error or I'd speak up.

You may want to reconsider your critique of Thorne's product and its label. It seems everyone else may have it incorrectly labeled. The technical name of Niagen...seemingly is, in fact, "Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride".

They convert the molecule into a salt to stabilize it so Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride is correct.

The IC3 code ... or ic3 or lc3 or LC3 code... is not working right now.

Does anyone have any hints, tips or advice .... or news.... as to how to  solve this ?

Thanks to anyone that replies.

Yeah it's getting to that time when I need to order more soon. What's the status on their 200 count bottles?  It'd also be great to find out if they can do doses of 350mg instead of 250mg.

Just waiting till people can sell the powder in bulk.
