Seems like we've been stuck, across all major vendors, at (a discounted) $30 to $35 per bottle of 60 x 125 mg NR for quite awhile, making tablet composition and shipping costs the bigger issues for the time being.

The current price point could be primarily due to Chromadex having the patent for NR....these vendors need to mark it up a certain amount to cover their costs (whatever those may be)

and make some kind of profit.

(oops, "capsule", not "tablet" composition)

Yup, Chromadex has probably fixed this price for time being.  Will be interesting to see if price is lowered over time as we've been expecting/hoping, or if further research and increasing demand actually pushes it higher again -- worst case being special patented formulations requiring a prescription for specific medical uses, combined with new research indicating some unforeseen risk to taking plain NR.

What is so discouraging, is how Niagen pricing is all over the place currently. Re your example ^, in Aug I purchased 6 bottles LCR Niagen 250mg for $150 free shipping. Now it's +$64.27 extra. The nice $25/bottle price I got is gone (for now at least), but it sure would be nice to know bulk Niagen powder vendor pricing to evaluate all the offers out there. Companies obviously need to make some profit, but in an efficient marketplace, a commodity powder should settle on some sort of semi-std. pricing from all vendors. Or at least it should.

You are aware this is the HPN group buy and Livecellresearch product pumping is not welcome on this forum. Many reasons why, such as off topic but primarily they've refused to provided evidence of their product assurance claims.

The email below is recent but questions have lingered over ingredient handling and transparency for 2-years as basic customer questions are dodged time and again as shown below. If someones price appears to be to good it might be a read flag. Buyer Beware!

Some of you may also remember they claimed they were selling 100% NIAGEN with no other ingredients. But don't let me influence what you put in your bodies.

post-34050-0-38675000-1477123619.png

Oops they forgot to list all their ingredients. Maybe they cleaned up their act since they published this but without transparency I can't recommend them without cooperation and they've avoided the basic questions. They only changed their labeling above after it was proven they weren't listing all of their ingredients and they were using silica powder before they switched to rice bran. Not a big deal until you hold yourselves to be the purest product vender and sell to people who are specifically emptying the contents under their tongue who don't want to inhale silica dust.

No you don't get my question. I know Certificate of Analysis documents are lot-specific. I and others have been asking to see these documents since 2014. You advertise you perform third party tests for our assurance but are not willing to make these public for verification. How does this give any of us any assurance?

You also advertize you are a Certified Lab and you also say "that strictly adhere to GMP standards" Do you guys carry a GMP certification for your encapsulation process because that's the implication?

With so many Compounding ficilities facing Recent FDA Actions there is a real concern today that GMP claims have to be confirmed. If this claim is true this is something to be extermly proud of and I comend you because very few labs can meet this criteria because of the expence. So from a martketing standpoint producing this cerfification would put you as the top dog being that the rest of the NR vendors farm out their encapsulation process to 3rd party Certified Lab's to meet state and national GMP standards.

Please just send me a copy of each document for verification and I will notify our user-base that these questions have been fulfilled.

Best regards,

Bryan

Hello Bryan,

Thank you for contacting LCR, we hope you’re having a great day!

Since Certificate of Analysis is lot-specific, we do not provide them to our customers as we regularly have new batches analyzed and delivered. All our supplements are GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliant, according to guidelines set by the FDA. These guidelines assure that all of our products have the identity, strength, composition, quality, and purity that appear on their labels.

I hope that information helps!

^ Indeed troubling that they made such a basic labeling error (or maybe on purpose for marketing purpose?). Thanks, I never understood what the problems with them were. Also odd they won't produce even one CofA, as a sample to show they exist (are actually done). Refusing such a minor request begs the question, "What (else) are they not telling." Sigh...

This whole ordeal lead to their marketing guy Ethan Furman moving on 5 months later as questions continued. We are a pretty tough crowd on LongeCity and we ask a lot of questions "as it should be."

Sorry, it's a small thing but drives me nuts. To "beg the question" is not to raise the question like that smoke I see begs the question 'is something burning.' Begging the question is asking a question which contains an assumption about the underlying subject. For example, when discussing whether marijuana was safe or not with a researcher Nancy Grace asked him "Why do you think Marijuana has such devastating effects?" she was begging the question, as the debate was whether or not marijuana had negative effects let alone devastating ones. It is an effective tactic in rhetoric because it puts someone in the position where they must attack the question and seem to be avoiding it or answer the question and seem to be agreeing to some extent with the underlying assumption.

No code and it looks perpetual. They told me they were going to see about that and get back to me so no more waiting. Still let me know if they take these down and I'll make the call.

Bryan,

Any possible way you could find out...

  1. if our group ordered less/more/same this last go-round since the dosage studies had been published for a bit by the time the normal ordering period came up.
  2. if the 180ct ordering was popular enough to continue? The last time around I ordered the 180ct bottles even though I would have ordered the 6x 60ct for the lower pricing just to ensure that the 'test' for demand would get my support.

I noticed they dropped the 60ct prices via the HPN web store and are listing an even lower 60ct price via amazon. Do we still have buying power?

Hrmmm... kinda uneasy about seeing HPN Niagen for $29.99 60 count bottle from a reseller (that seems to have registered here on longecity), but a price like that does make one want to know. Makes the, I'm going to get burned, spidey-sense tingle like when looking at new availability from a Chinese supplier.

[Edit] I guess a better place for this is the vendor vetting thread...

Well the promotion price with HPN is about the same, I must say I like their site, they seem to be pretty straight up with answers on a lot of different things, personally right now I'm happy using HPN since I've bought and had 2 shipments sent to Europe without a hitch but if I need anything else I can't get this side of the pond I think I'd definitely have a look at AlivebyNature to.

Can only wonder if the Chinese stuff turns out to be the real deal if it does it could be a potential game changer but I won't be holding my breath just yet.

The Chinese stuff has never panned out and they will send you a Certificate of Analysis to boot but they've proved to be false.  NMN might come into the picture if they can get the price into a competitive range, we'll see. If you see anything approaching NR's price right now I'd question that by sending a sample out for testing.

The slight complication with this is that Chromadex has patent protection on the synthesis of nicatinomide riboside chloride, and unless these guys came up with a new route that avoids the patented steps, they are in violation.

Just to clarify, they do NOT have a patent on nicatinomide riboside, nor do they have a patent on nicatinomide riboside chloride (which is what niagen is). Chromadex has a patent only on the synthesis of niagen. But it's apparently a very good and thorough patent protecting the only clearly viable method of synthesis. Someone could work around it, but it would be difficult and their production cost would almost certainly be several times that of Chromadex's.

ProHealth being an official partner of Chromadex, I think the prices with this vendor make group buys pretty much obsolete when you calculate the cost per mg.

samstersam this is the HPN group buy thread. But since you posted here I will tell you HPN has the cleanest product on the market. If you check the ProHealth ingredients you'll find a bunch of junk. So for some of us its not just about price. Plus HPN has supported our community for a long while. I've thrown the ProHealth pricing at a couple of vendors who've told me they would provide us the best pricing. Do you know the response I've gotten is; we can't give our Niagen away for less then it takes to bottle, package and ship it. So sometimes the price itself makes you say "whats going on here and how can they undercut everyone else?" I'm not saying they've done anything wrong but the ProHealth price is suspect.

So that being said its your money. I just placed an order for 12 bottles of HPN's product yesterday.

I've been watching this thread for awhile, and while I would agree with you, Bryan_S that this is the HPN group buy thread, you should ask the mods/owners of this forum to delete those non-relevant threads, but instead, this fear-mongering is a bit unsavory.  So LCR doesn't release analysis documents and had a blunder in disclosing excipients.  But ProHealth seemingly passes your criteria of "clean" ingredients but suddenly is "full of junk."  And then the not-so-subtle allegations of outright dilution or fraud from cheaper vendors from complete speculation and hearsay.

You have the choice to buy from HPN and support of this forum is great. But this whole thread leaves a bad taste in my mouth about HPN, even though you supposedly don't work for them.

Yes, it is the Niagen group buy thread, and I think both sides of the coin can be discussed. Both pros and cons.

In the Nicotinamide Riboside thread discussion, there are pros and cons and even comparisons to other supplements in the discussion. That's what forums are about. Discussion.

Likewise, I believe if there are better deals out there for comparative purposes it should still be relevant to this thread.

Mentioning other vendors for comparative purposes is valid in my opinion. Especially when it comes to price and savings. That's what GROUP BUYS are for. The title of this thread is about the GROUP BUY of Niagen, and I'm merely comparing vendors.

This thread is titled literally "Niagen Nicotinamide Riboside Group Buy", as in pricing, questions about promo codes, where, how, assistance etc.  The title does not imply only about the subject on how awesome HPN (only one specific Niagen vendor) is and how other vendors are bad. Those kind of comments make me think there is more to your bias than it appears on the outside.

May I ask you a simple question?

"I will tell you HPN has the cleanest product on the market".

Really? Is this a factual statement? Can show me comparative studies of ALL niagen vendors vs HPN? Have you actually done analysis on ALL niagen vendors vs HPN? Reading such statements from you makes me wonder...For someone not affiliated with HPN, it sure is a salesman type of statement.

Yes, it is the Niagen group buy thread, and I think both sides of the coin can be discussed. Both pros and cons.

I hear and see your argument, however I do post about the competitive pricing and ingredients in this linked thread but this one has been dedicated to the HPN group buy as you can see in the first forum post. So the argument as to which forum is the proper place to put competitive offers is what we're discussing. So you'll find I do review other offers and we've set up a place to do just that. So I'm not saying what your saying isn't important but this isn't where that discussion is located. I would like to invite and encourage you to participate in the nicotinamide riboside niagen vendor vetting discussion. If you want to argue ingredients and which vendor is best we can do that there. So here is some history HPN responded to "our requests" and formulated their product to meet "our demands" thru this group buy. No other vendor has been willing to change their ingredients for us but this one.

Well this is good news...

Check out the HPN Nutraceuticals Storefront on Amazon... 180 ct N® at $79.99.

Bryan,

I guess this directly negates the request I had earlier for you to ask if we still have 'buying power'. If our 'group buy' special pricing is 25% more than the general public price I'd say we've lost any special status. At $3.56/g it is far better than the 12 bottle deal.

I agree, it looks like they are going to do better prices than they've given us. Thanks for posting this new best price from HPN. With the competitive prices lately it looks like they are finally responding to the outside pricing pressure.

Well Alivebynature ship to Europe, I just successfully ordered the below:-

http://alivebynature...gen-3pk-250-mg/

This is the 3 pack of 250mg NR cost me $144 with shipping, that's 180 tablets of 250mg each.

The HPN 180 pack would cost me about $115 with shipping but they would be 180 x 125mg each

Couldn't pass this up, that's me up from 250mg to 500mg p/d for 90 days :)
