Hi guys,

I'm considering going back onto a stimulant but this time with Focalin, and at a small dosage. I've been thinking that the stimulants I have taken in the past have been at too large of doses for what I find necessary. I at least want to try this theory before dismissing it.

However, the problem that comes along with a smaller dosage is prolonging the beneficial effects throughout the day. I get unbearable side effects after a stimulant wears off, the worst being almost suicidal depression. So, I've come to ask you guys how to deal with this issue; what can I do to better prolong a low focalin XR dose (>=2.5 mg) throughout the day?

Well, try the 5 mg dosage of Focalin XR, that might do the trick.

Also, if you are having trouble with the low-dose cutting out on you, you can either supplement with a small (1,5) dose of Focalin IR in the evening, which you simply hack up to an appropriate size.

Either that, or you can do this:

The Focalin XR capsules are sometimes prescribed over other extended release stimulants because the capsules can be opened and their contents mixed with applesauce or pudding to help children who cannot, or will not, swallow large capsules. This is possible due to the SODAS (Spheroidal Oral Drug Absorption System) delivery system, also used in Ritalin LA.

The time-release system of Focalin XR is different than that of Concerta - the time-release component is a part of the VERY SMALL BEADS inside of it, and not the actual casing. ( unlike Concerta)

If you have 5 mg Focalin XR, then just split a few of them open, and you can then schedule a regular re-dosing time in the evening with the micro-doses in the beads - and it will STILL be XR!! : D

Man... I'm actually pretty g'damn envious of you - I'm stuck with sh*tty concerta, which is the DL-mix, and it produces 40 TIMES the Norepinephrine than Dopamin - compare that to the D-enantiomer in Focalin - 1,7 times the Nore than the dopa.

And then take into account that I've got a nearly normal Norepinephrine -production ( it sounds like you do as well, if you get anxiety from stims)... well, you've got it good with Focalin man - if you do the dosing-trick I just told ya', you might just have found a golden medication.

What kind of inhumane monster breaks apart a capsule of Focalin and puts extended release beads of d-MPH in applesauce ?!?!?!
