Just curious if IP6 supplementation, aside from its chelation benefits, could also be expected to provide some of the beneficial effects of myo-inositol. I know that humans lack phytase, but some lactobacillus and bifido species seem to produce it. The question is, then, would more than just a few percent be broken down in the gut before absorption?

A good question, and one that I've tried to find an answer to myself.

What I've gathered is, if IP6 is taken on an empty stomach (which is the only way it should be taken), it is absorbed quite quickly, and long before it reaches the colon where lactobacillus/bifido might break it down.  I don't believe IP6 will be broken down in the body once absorbed, but then I couldn't really find any research on this.

I take both IP6 (cycled on/off and in low doses), and myo-inositol (daily, and again in low doses) and really like what I've experienced from both forms.  My liver enzymes (ALT/AST) are down in the TEENS and blood sugar/insulin seems improved.  No more post sugar crumping if I have a soda or dessert.

Myo-inositol taken an hour before bed sends me to dreamland and I don't wake up in the middle of the night like I used to. When I take it during the day, I don't have recurring/obsessive thought loops or "earworm" music I would sometimes be plagued with.  It's almost like Dolby noise reduction for the brain.  Clear head...  Evan keel.  Great stuff!

A supplement labeled "Inositol" is myo-inositol (one and the same): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inositol

IP6 is "Inositol Hexaphosphate" also known as Phytic Acid (one and the same):

Both are quite interesting...  Give them a read

Awesome, I have inositol on its way and I just got my ITPP shipment(myo-inositol trispyrophosphate) yesterday
. I just noticed couple supplements with myo-inositol on their label and majority with inositol. The ones with myo- were more expensive too

You're paying for 3 letters in this case. They are almost certainly chemically the same.
