This deserves its own thread. I've been taking this stuff (specifications below) on an off for a year now, and it unmistakably boosts my visual memory for roughly 24 hours after the fact (effects may take a few days of dosing to max out). Lumosity brain games has detected the improvement in my scores on Memory Matrix and Observation Tower, in particular. These games both involve a brief visual flash of data (highlighted squares and random digits, respectively). The user then has to recall the flashed information. It does not noticeably affect serial memory, for instance, recalling a list of names read to me one at a time.

Additionally, visual simulation improves; in other words, I can visualize engineering problems more readily, which materially contributes to my productivity.

The effects do not seem to wane with time, despite my fairly consistent use.

The only downside is a perceptible increase in tinnitus, and reduced deep sleep due to vivid lucid dreaming, at high doses. But I've never had an actual hallucination, so we're not talking about "shrooms" here. At my maintenance dose of (1/3) of a pill (powder capsule) daily (78 kg adult male), these issues are not in evidence. I've gone as high a whole pill on occasion. I only just yesterday took a whole pill, for instance, after more than 2 weeks of taking none at all. This morning I broke my record on Observation Tower. However, I cheated somewhat because I had de facto stem cell therapy around the previous time I took a pill; nonetheless, the benefits were clear long before that, albeit not at this record breaking level.

Now, why does this work? I've heard rumors of interaction with CaMKII, tubulin protein, glutamate upregulation (but not totally uncontrolled as with monosodium glutamate), and 5HTP. Sorry but I have no good science here, apart from these search suggestions, none of which may actually be true.

Note that some individuals seem to be nonresponders -- perhaps half the population, according to my unscientific peer survey. Again, I have no clue as to why. Either it's genetic, or perhaps their visual memory is already so good that the boost is indetectable.

Ingredients per single pill:

Shiitake mushroom extract (stem, fruiting body), 10% polysaccharides including beta glucan: 100 mg

Maitake mushroom extract (stem, fruiting body), 30% polysaccharides including beta glucan: 100 mg

Inactive ingredients:

Oat grain (filller?): 200 mg

Gelatin, cellulose, magnesium stearate, and silica
