So, let's say we identified affiliate links that were made using a certain advertising platform by running the affiliate links through a database of known affiliate servers. We could then have a script replace that link with LongeCity's affiliate link or ID number for that product every so many times it's displayed and the result would be win/win. We wouldn't have to police indy spam and people would generate the links for us.
How it would work:
If Bob posted an affiliate link to Amazon, our server would identify it and turn it into a rotation ad for the same item where his link would be used every 5th or 8th time the link was used and ours would be used for the balance thus earning us an additional stream of revenue and providing incentives for people to post affiliate links and generate traffic on part or all of our website. After one year, the original poster's links/ID would drop from the rotation.
Under this system we would still disallow junk spamming by flagging those users as spammers. We would only allow this for regulars and approved affiliates. All other affiliate links would be removed or replace with an affiliate link to the homepage of Amazon or something like that.
