I've been taking Jarrows Coconut Oil capsules 2x a day for about a week now and I have noticed an significant increase in verbal fluency upon taking them. I have tried over at least 50 nootropics and supplements to boost cognitive function and diminish brain fog and while some have increased focus and reasoning ability nothing besides cdp choline has come close to improving my verbal fluency quite like coconut oil does. I'm not sure what exactly the coconut oil is doing to my brain to produce such effects, which is a part of the reason I made this thread, to spread awareness of coconut oils tremendous cognitive benefits and to inquire on how coconut oil actually improves cognition. I'm also wondering if others have noticed a marked increase in verbal fluency after taking coconut oil.

Does the oil make you more prone to talk? Or are the effects only realized when you are already speaking and able to articulate your words better?

I am interested if anyone has experience with the C.B. brand as the price almost seems too good to be true. If it weren't bought from Costco I would have been skeptical.

How is your insulin sensitivity / blood sugar doing? If you want to further investigate, then you can test MCT oil alone to see whether it has the same benefits as coconut oil. If so, then the effect is most likely from your cells getting alternative energy from ketones. If so, then perhaps there is some problem with main energy source, i.e., a problem with insulin sensitivity. If this is true, then doing anything (e.g. HIIT) to improve insulin sensitivity might also be beneficial (from nootropic substances ALCAR comes to mind).
I haven't observed it's effects on the verbal fluency. In general, for me it's definitely very energy stabilizing, fulfilling and it suppresses hunger very well.
I generally use 1-3 tablespoons though.

I'm not sure whether or not I have problems in then insulin department. However, I do find that sugary and high carb food exacerbate my brain fog issues. How would I be able to tell without getting any tests from a doctor?

Hi, Interesting topic. I'm glad coconut oil is getting more attention in the wellness world.
I've been using coconut oil supplements as well, and I, too, have noticed cognitive benefits, as well as other improvements in my health.
I went with some Eukonic brand capsules that I got on Amazon--they're organic, cold pressed, and extra virgin. Good stuff.
(went with this brand after calling their 800 number and asking a million questions about their sourcing & 3rd party testing)
After taking two 1000mg capsules, 2x per day, daily, these are the main benefits I've noticed:
- Improved focus throughout the day
- Improved energy throughout the day
- Seemingly suppressed appetite (nothing unhealthy.... just snacking less)
- My skin appears more radiant, and I'm using less topical moisturizer on my face
To say the least, I am impressed and a FIRM believer in coconut oil--so long as it's quality. I actually started taking coconut oil as a "preventative medicine" and wasn't expecting to "feel" anything, per se, so I'm just very pleased.

You're right that it's probably cheaper to buy "normal oil" however I still prefer the capsules.
My Reasons:
- When coconut oil is heated above 120-degrees F, it loses some of its nutritional value. I'm not sure what goes first--the lauric acid, or the MCT, but I don't want to lose any of it! The cold-pressed oil in capsules helps me avoid using it to cook
- In my experience, cooking with coconut oil doesn't ensure you get a 100% consistent amount each day
- Even if I were able to make sure I consume the same amount each day with "normal oil," what about the days I don't cook? It's just easier to take the capsules, in my opinion
I'm not saying don't cook with the oil.... these are just the reasons my stubborn self prefers the capsules.

Either coconut or MCT oil, i put it in a tablespoon and swallow it with my softgels. Should improve bioavailability of fat-solubles further.

Ether way you might consider adding uridine, semax, methylene blue, and J147 to your regime.
