I've been taking deprenyl for 3 months now, and found myself very motivated.  I'm getting stuff done, and looking to begin a career in programming.  In fact, I've already started looking at programming "BootCamps" and plan to be highly successful and put in tons of work.

However, I'm afraid that I owe some of this motivation to deprenyl.  Yesterday, I stopped taking it to try to gain some clarity, and today I feel a little bit less motivated and optimistic about my future.

Should I be worried that I'll find myself in a situation in the future where I'm reaping the seeds of my deprenyl-infused motivation and action, yet find that I want to be drug-free?

What is your current dosage and why do you want to be drug free?

I guess all I'm saying is that, I don't want to build a career and become successful with the help of a drug... maybe I shouldn't be so worried about it, but that's my current feeling.

My current dosage is 1.25 mg daily, so about 9 mg a week. It definitely makes a difference to me though.

I'm probably biased....

However in this situation the positives appear to out weight the negatives. It seems like you enjoy programming and you are thinking about long term goals/accomplishments. Deprenyl may help in your efforts but that is all.

Why is that a bad thing? It's like taking caffeine to boost your mood and productivity at work. The only difference is that Selegiline requires you to swallow a pill whilst caffeine can be obtained in the form of a drink, like coffee. If Selegiline is working for you then keep taking it.  There's nothing worse in life then not being able to get motivated and staying in an apathetic state.

I would think about an IF situation, so if Depernyl would loose its effects. I mean Youre building a future on one single brick so to say.

Just saying for consideration not downing or something

Do you take it under the tongue or swallow it? and what is your weight?

I took 2.5mg sublingually a few days ago and noticed a very significant effect, and at least decent effect for a few days now with 1.25mg every other day same way.

I find more pleasure in doing things overall, and perhaps less anxiety. Taking long walks I find myself enjoying feeling a bit worn out in my legs, for example. I will see how well it maintains, and if I want to increase to 1.25mg every day.

The initial 2.5mg had the effect of making food taste wonderful...and I started having all sorts of ideas that I wrote down. (only other thing I used was a low amount (maybe 10-30mg)  of caffeine, these days)

So I used 1.25mg (Sublingually) every day for about 14 days, after a few initial every-other-day doses. There was significant motivational effects and feeling of well-being for about 7 days out of this 14 days. The first few days caused slightly unpleasant stimulation (e.g. heart felt like it was beating much harder), but BP and heart rate was as usual (maybe slightly elevated heart rate). During this 7 day period food tasted much better than normal, and my ears and face was warm. Then it became rather insignificant, these obvious effects at least faded away, but maybe there was underlying improvement in motivation nevertheless for much longer, I don't know.  I think it helped moderately with social anxiety.

Very mild discomfort (mostly fatigue) upon discontinuation (4 days ago), I did this kind of dosing before (but for some reason I can't recall my experience) and not much bad came out of quitting.

That's true. I suppose as long as deprenyl is legal and accessible, there's no real point in getting off it as there aren't any known significant negative side effects. Unfortunately, the only thing I don't like about it is that it makes me a bit of an emotional zombie. I feel less of a desire to connect with others and tend to objectify situations much more.

I've been taking 5mg/day (SL) for over 3 years now. I really like the effects. More motivation, less worries, less dwelling and tribulations, although still connected with others, with life and able to experience other emotions like sadness; so no "zombification". No side-effects.
