Dear friends,

There has been emerging a tradition by longevity researchers and activists around the world to organize events dedicated to promotion of longevity research on or around October 1 – the UN International Day of Older Persons.
This day is sometimes referred to in some parts of the longevity activists community as the “International Longevity Day”.

In 2013, events during or around that day – ranging from small meetings of friends to seminars and rather large conferences, alongside special publications, distributions of outreach materials (petitions and flyers) and media appearances – were held in over 30 countries, and in 2014 in over 20 countries.

Let us maintain and strengthen this tradition! It is now 3 months before October 1, a good time to plan a mutually reinforcing network of events worldwide. If you plan to organize an event for that day, please let know. Together we can create an activism wave of strong impact.

In the last years, there were excellent events organized by longevity activists in Asia, both live meetings and on line outreach, especially in Japan and Korea, and mainly on line outreach in other countries – Philippines, Singapure, Indonesia and more.

Hopefully more events and publications will be organized this year in the area.

As promotional materials, one can use the position paper on the “Critical need to promote research of aging and aging-related diseases to improve health and longevity of the elderly population,” briefly describing the rationales, technologies and policies needed to promote this research. It is now available in Chinese http://www.longevity...search-chinese/ and in English – http://www.longevity...ound-the-world/

And some promotional materials are also available in Japanese http://www.longevity...org/L/japanese/ Korean http://www.longevity...l.org/L/korean/ Indonesia/Malay http://www.longevity...g/panjang-umur/ and more.

Please spread the word! If you would like to get involved – please let know! Thank you.
