Hello,

Tried ketogenic diet, out of interest, for ~1 month (measured by blood ketones). Started out at <10% body fat with excellent lipid panel (high HDL, low HDL & apo B). After month of keto, my HDL decreased, LDL doubled and apo B went to shit. Keto is not for me.

I'm returning to moderate carbs (low GI carbs, lots of protein). I am looking for supplements to quickly normalize my lipid values. Going to use: beta-glucans (barley & yeast extracted), red wine. What other stuff would you recommend?

Genetics, gotta love it.

Out of curiosity, what were you using for your fats? I presume you were also fully in keto, staying there, and not eating too much protein?

Saturated fats - butter, coconut oil, egg yolk. Some cheese. Polyunsaturated fats from nuts & avocados. Fully in keto all the time (measured blood ketones), so protein consumption was fine.

If you give it another go in the future drop the coconut oil and butter completely. The coconut oil alone will wreck your lipid profile.

That's odd. A lot of Amazonian tribes are generally practicing ketosis, and they seem in perfect health. I think your case is unique.
