I don't have access to a copy of Roy Walford's Beyond the 120-year Diet, and was hoping to track down a reference in a passage I somehow recall reading in the original 120 Year Diet, 25 years ago.
On page 243, there's the text:
Guinea pigs placed on a totally synthetic diet that contains ample amounts of all the known essential nutrients will not thrive at all. Not all essential nutrients have been identified. A CRON diet will probably include these unknowns; a fast-food/quick-pill or processed-food diet very likely will not. 27*
Bookmark 27 from Chapter 9 should be located on page 415. Unfortunately no online preview of the book has this page.
If its a footnoted personal anecdote about animal husbandry difficulties in Dr. Walford's lab, I'm not terribly interested. What I'm hoping for is a publication that sets a synthetic diet against a natural ingredient diet, much like table 2 from another of Dr. Walford's references on page 243 does.
Thanks in advance.
