Hi all. Is anyone else kinda paranoid about surgical complications arising from supplementation? For example, this list (http://anes.med.umic...or_patients.pdf) indicates what drugs and supplements should be discontinued before surgery. This thread on longecity (http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/62930-which-supplements-are-blood-thinners/) discusses similar concerns in regards to blood thinners.

Of course, I would follow these guidelines before a planned surgery. What worries me is if I am ever in a situation that requires emergency surgery, such as a bad car accident. Recently, I discontinued ginkgo over this concern (ginkgo may increase bleeding by acting as an anticoagulant). Now, I am paranoid about a few other things I supplement, such as ginseng and fish oil. I'll post my whole list if anyone has any thoughts.

Ginseng (standardized extract)

Ginkgo (standardized extract)

Magnesium L-Threonate

Magnesium Glycinate Lysinate

Suntheanine

CDP-choline

Bacopa (standardized extract)

ALCAR

Creatine

Fish Oil (Nordic Naturals)

Multivitamin (Thorne Basic Nutrients 2/Day) - very basic multi w/ good forms, only concern I think would be the 20 IU alpha tocopherols (vitamin E) and 24 mg gamma tocopherols

I also used to take piracetam (5 g daily) a few months ago. Am thinking of starting again.
