Setting aside whether this whole over/undermethylation thing has merit, the respective "treatments" aren't exactly harmful.

The problem is: what is someone to do who pretty much experiences symptoms of BOTH conditions almost equally?

My "symptoms" of undermethylation:

-Excellent response to antihistamines

-Obsessive and compulsive tendencies

-"History of competitiveness"

-High inner tension

-Strong-willed (never give up trying to figure out what is wrong)

-Frequent Headache

-Poor concentration endurance

-Social isolation

My "symptoms" of overmethylation:

-ADHD

-Depression

-Severely low libido

-Low motivation

-Overweight

-Sleep disorders (severe insomnia)

-Low "fluidity" (frequent dry mouth and dry eyes)

-Heavy body hair

To those who believe in methylation problems: How does someone exhibiting equal signs of BOTH conditions figure out which one is predominant?

The problem is that your list of symptoms can all have other causes. Lots of confusing variables. So I don't know if anyone can come out and say you are one or the other.

Testing for histamine blood levels and also genetic testing however the genetic testing can be difficult interpret because some snps will lean one way and others the opposite in the same person. I came across this for testing.
The common biochemistry of UNDERMETHYLATION is:
1. High blood histamine
2. High basophil count
3. Low plasma zinc
4. Elevated serum copper
5. Low homocysteine
6. High heavy metals
7. Low levels of the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine
Dr william walsh has some great videos on youtube
The common biochemistry of an OVERMETHYLATION is:
1. Low blood histamine
2. Low basophil count
3. Low plasma zinc
4. Elevated copper
5. Elevated levels of the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine.

Over/under-methylation is the hands down dumbest explanation for issues I have ever heard. Even new age crap doesn't come as close to being so dumb as this. How can anyone take seriously this nonsense? It cannot be said enough that the world of biology is a billion times more complex than methylation. And the MTHFR mutation variations exists in most people. Go read about personality traits and genetics instead of thinking about this nonsense.

Biology is a billion times more complex than any one disease etiology, that could be said for any theories going around today, what is your point?. As i said most ppl will have mutations that will be both making it a tug of war and difficult to work out. So if he is interested blood tests would be the most accurate way of testing and not going by symptoms. Your response is certainly not helpful and giving ppl bad votes for replying to a question is childish I'm not sure if you've clicked on your name but clearly your not very helpful on these forums i won't bother responding again

blood histamine levels are the worst marker to test for since it's half life is so quick. you need to look at and measure it's metabolite instead.
